  1. The V6 even fire and especially the 3800 engines were basically bullet proof when the regular maintenance was done. Most common problem is customers would not change the oil. I inspected one car when I was a rep, about a 1981 that the engine locked up at about 32,000 miles. It had the original oil filter on it and the customer eventually admitted that he did not change the oil because it was on a 36,000 mile lease and commented "why waste the money on oil changes". He paid for the engine repair.
  2. Dean also has a book out on carburation.
  3. KDKA in Pittsburgh was before that. I believe it is the only station east of the Mississippi that has a K first letter in the station identification. November 2, 1920 On October 27, 1920, the Department of Commerce issued the first commercial radio station license under the call sign KDKA. On November 2, 1920, Leo Rosenberg broadcast the Harding-Cox presidential election returns, marking the first broadcast by a licensed radio station. Under the call sign KDKA, Pittsburgh's Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company transmitted the first scheduled broadcast on Nov. 2, 1920. KDKA's Leo Rosenberg announced live returns of the Presidential election between Warren G. Harding and James Cox.
  4. Good road car if sorted out well and brought back up to factory specifications.
  5. I agree with Joe that it has a Cadillac look including the rear hub caps. Can't tell about the front ones. Might be damaged. Not sure on year.
  6. I now tow with at 3/4 ton Silverado with the 6.6L Diesel. It has an 18,500 pound towing capacity. The biggest issue is that you need to keep reminding yourself that there is a trailer behind you. The truck does not even know you have a car & trailer that you are towing.
  7. Does driving a 1915 Buick truck count? or maybe a 1908 Buick Delivery car? By the way, the shift pattern is different that a modern vehicle. Reverse is top right, 1st is bottom right, 2nd is top left, 3rd is bottom left.
  8. Shows that many of us have the same interests. A lot of common ground between us. I will remove it for you.

  10. The Lansing-Dearborn tour is held the Thursday and Friday after Labor Day. It is held in conjunction with the Old Car Festival at Greenfield Village/ The Henry Ford Museum. If you have not been to the Old Car Festival, it is the best car event in the country for vehicles 1932 and older. They usually have over 500-700 vehicles every year in the village. If you are interested, contact me and I can put you on the list for the sending out tour information. I have already sent out initial hotel information. Questions, PM me. 11. On some things like that I have used the brush that is used to clean copper fittings before soldering them together. You can use them manually with the handle on or cut the handle off and use a drill. Buy them at any hardware store or Home Depot, etc.. https://www.supplyhouse.com/Oatey-31327-1-2-Copper-Fitting-Brush-w-Plastic-Handle?utm_source=google_ad&utm_medium=Shopping_tm&utm_campaign=Shopping_TM_New_users&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAuNGuBhAkEiwAGId4ak1uW93GZyBL3HKroXFfWmsJA40DXwDYFn7ApIf6XqCnCEIWOAaeeBoC8CwQAvD_BwE
  12. Have you gone to a good locksmith? I would guess that the cylinder is a Yale brand with a 928 key cut. Might even be a K1 key blank. Just a guess but a good locksmith will be able to tell you quickly.
  13. Contact Dandy Dave on this forum. He can make them. https://forums.aaca.org/profile/87870-dandy-dave/
  14. 1968 Opel Kadett Station Wagon, dark blue. Like this, but dark blue.
  15. Good advice from 1937 Buick 66C. Especially about changing the fuel pump with a new pump or diaphragm. I changed the fuel pump on our 76 Corvette recently just because. Even though it was working fine I do not remember the last time it was changed, meaning before or after the widespread adoption of E-10 alcohol fuel.
  16. I understand that those truck of that era are worth quite a bit of money today.
  17. I remember those Blazers being built at the Flint truck plant.
