  1. So I was taking my old 1984 Buick Regals 23- 3.8L V6 engine and I started disconnecting the bolts connecting the bell housing to the engine block in which I got all of them off except one of and it’s a TH350 so I started jacking very little and moved the engine very slowly to give me the slightest bit of room to get the last one off and it wouldn’t come off and while trying to take it off the bell housing snapped clean in half and the transmission is still good in working condition but I’m currently stuck and I’m asking this to wonder if I can buy a replacement bell housing for the transmission and where I can get one and what my options are
  2. Yeah I heard what I needed to do was just change the mounts but other wise the transmission line matches right up with it but most likely I’m gonna start with the V6
  3. Yeah I probably will start off with that but I do want to switch it because a lot of the stuff in that car line up with the engine I’m looking for is all that’s why I asked.
  4. I keep seeing that there’s different VIN engine codes for Engines like the Buick 350 5.7L V8 Small block does anyone know what the differences are between the different coded ones and which one would replace my 1984 Buick regal 231 3.8L V6 if there is any necessary differences that one would have different then the other is all. I know the Buick 350 5.7L V8 would line up with the engine mount bolts and transmission lines and all but it’s something I want to know before I buy a replacement engine
  5. I was able to take the oil pan off today and it’s pretty bad from what I can see I think I blew up something in the motor near the crank unfortunately but I could be wrong. I had plans on swapping it with a Buick 350 5.7L V8 when it came to that time. When I get the time to take pictures of how bad it is I will send them in the chat
  6. Alright this is very good to know if this is the case is the engine fixable?
  7. I know this is dumb to ask but when I sprayed the whole carb clean bottle over a period of 2-3 days to get running did that cause my motor to lock up or flood because it was running then it immediately stopped 10 seconds after running and the day prior I had it running for like 2 minutes when I didn’t have a lot of carb cleaner in it just let me know please could save me a lot of time and help me out
  8. Alright 😁 just hope mine is gonna be saveable It might be a better option to swap it with a Buick 350 but if I have the ability to rebuild the engine I will try
  9. Yeah heard they were great on gas to just heard from a handful of people that it had a handful of problems but that’s typical with any engine
  10. The 231 engine I got had engine knock when I purchased it so I knew it was gonna be fragile so when I got it running the first time for like 2 minutes I got happy and so dedicated that I came back the next day to start it again and I kept spraying carb cleaner in it which I definitely did to much like way to much because the car was sitting for awhile so I thought it would need a lot of it then I started it which in which it started again and Ran for like 10 seconds but then immediately stopped which made me assume that I either locked up the engine or flooded it just really don’t know what happened to it. If anyone knows what I did to it just let me know I have heard those engines have history of having bad valve trains and being unreliable but I can be wrong but if anyone is really good with the engines just let me know if I locked it up or flooded/seized it
  11. Yeah that’s what I did wrong you live and you learn. I’m gonna leave belts on next time to do it would make my life easier 😂
  12. Yeah that’s what I did i just jumped to far ahead and didn’t think
  13. I removed 4 bolts attaching fan to clutch i just went to far ahead and didn’t think but I got the water pump off.
  14. Should I put the alternator and air pump back on with the belts so I can take the water pump pulley off? Because when I try to take it off it just spins
  15. Yeah had new battery and new starter put in and same result unfortunately. I just tried to spin that one yesteryday and I couldn’t get it to budge
