  1. McLaughlin was more likely to carry over items like that from the previous year until they ran out. I seem to recall hearing that Buisk shipped some of those things to Oshawa when they made changes (not sure how reliable either the tale or the memory are on that). I do do know for 1929 that there were running changes that ordered through the year, so it makes sense that would have happened in prior times too.
  2. That las one has a bit of a resemblance to our country place.
  3. There was a big car show here today but I ignored it. I figured the pace car had seen enough miles for the year and will be needing the garage space in the city so I drove it out to the country. There Luke and I pulled the truck out and hooked up the trailer for an adventure to get the next addition (photos are on the computer that is presently acting up so it will be another post tomorrow). The the end count is that I drove one Buick, pushed and pulled another, and saw almost all of my Buicks (three project cars are in another building I didn't enter today) today.
  4. A six cylinder open car to go along with my four cylinder would be wonderful. Alas, I just spent some money on something closer that the forum will see photos of vey soon...going tomorrow to pick it up. Exciting stuff.
  5. I spent some time chatting with Todd at Gateway when we stopped in on our way back from Allentown. It turns out he has a '55 Buick (if memory is correct) and is a BCA member. I worked on getting him to bring it to Brookfield next year. Its been fun fun reading this thread from the beginning and catching the excitement.
  6. We saw one in Flip Chip Silver Metallic in Wisconsin Dells on our way home from Allentown. Nice car. She Who Must Be Obeyed wants one. I'm hoping it was just a late enough introduction that they are delaying a year in Canada. If we get one then that frees up the Reatta as a daily summer driver for someone else.
  7. One thing is that there is a loss of expertise as the older generations pass on. Most of my cars are older than I am. When we look at it, starting in around the 50s, cars are relatively modern. When we go back to the thirties, particularly the early thirties, with wood based bodies and mechanical brakes, there is a level of technical expertise required that isn't being taught in technical schools for mechanics. Body shops here are getting less interested in working on anything that isn't as lucrative as the insurance (collision) based market. I've had my body shop of choice, the ones that repaired and painted my Wildcat, turn me down to work on the '29' which doesn't require much work, mostly prep and paint. So, without mentors, we can expect most of the younger folks entering the market to be more interested in the more modern market and / or going the custom route.
  8. If I recall there are two styles of door rests - Special and Roadmaster are different - not sure about Century and Super. You may want to let folks know which you have.
  9. The trunk shape - the 40B series four doors were the jet back styling - sort of a four door sedanette. Theres a a photo of a model 47 in the Standard catalog of Buick for the 1941 year.
  10. Sure you had to bring up Teri, who we haven't seen in a coon's age...didn't Mr..Earl say something about this thread being for artsy photos? What's more artistic than a Buick with a southern belle?
  11. Amusing. Mind you, to give the benefit of the doubt, we do use some words (such as original) to have a slightly different context. Why anyone would need to rebuild a car with 3000 miles is beyond me, then put in a Pertronix and drive it 700 miles. In spite of the ad, to a local buyer, this may be a decent car.
  12. Neat find. Perhaps I should run out to my local antique store.
  13. Uh oh. The man has gone into hiding. See the expectations when you start something? I've got my coffee, but no Daily Buick to go with it yet...sigh.
  14. I just had to look it up as it wasn't familiar to me...the Bolero was a 1990 concept car.
  15. I'd contact Kris on the National Meet Committee. She had suggested increasing the block of rooms may be possible when we were in Allentown. Contact info is in the Bugle. I guess I'd misunderstood with your mention of the Internet options and thought perhaps you were trying to book from the block online. My bad.
  16. When booking for group rates, you almo,St always need to phone the hotel. They seem to generally not have the special group rates online, although they have the typical ones like hotel membership, CAA/AAA, AARP, military, etc. Between OnStar and Google Hangouts, long distance charges are generally not an issue any more.
  17. I have a kit I purchased some time ago for my 1929. Thanks for for the link Mark. Very informative.
  18. That should generally work. The only issue with relaxed suspension is that you need a jack with enough lift. On on a longer trip in particular, I tend to bring a small hydraulic jack or two along.
  19. The Manitoba Classic and Antique Auto Club had their annual corn roast today. The host for over 30 years passed away earlier this summer, so there was a bit of a presentation to the family and I think that had something to do with a really good turnout. Aside from the Wildcat and pace car (the latter came late), there was a '41 Limited and '57 Roadmaster for the Buick representation. The weather was very nice and the company was pleasant.
  20. Before Allentown I found something at Canadian Tire that is sort of a wedge that fits between the seat and console. It isn't great for all sizes of cups but it works better than what was there before.
  21. The colour in that photo of the GSX / 1950 really pops out. Great shot.
  22. That reminds me of a local '52. Unfortunately the owner passed away from cancer and I have no idea where the car went.
  23. Yes, Pete will want it..ok, I want it in The Bugle.
