  1. The DeLuxe is a higher level of Special series 40. It has a 121.5 inch wheelbase, shared with the Super line (except for model 52 four door sedan, which is longer). The vast majority of Specials were in the DeLuxe package.
  2. Got rid of? What's that like? Cal it an advanced stage of the disease, but I have yet to sell anything more than remains of a Buick.
  3. Thanks for the advice. I will let you know what the culprit is.
  4. On Friday I was bringing the Reatta home when it died. Electrical and starter seemed fine, so I was thinking timing chain. It turns out there is no spark. Any thoughts on the cause and whether parts are available or made of unobtainium? On another note none of the rear lights are working...sigh. Hopefully we get this all straightened out as this car is supposed to make the drive to Allentown. Thanks.
  5. My first thought on the first photo was "way too much hair". You shoulda held us in suspense a bit longer.
  6. That's one of the challenges with our beloved Buicks. Not it necessarily endorsing, but a couple sources are RockAuto.com, Kanter, The Buick Farm - that's off the top of my head. I know I'm missing a couple and I'm sure others will chime in.
  7. That's a shame Keith. I moved we'd the pace car out of the garage to wash it...stupid wind and elm seeds...then put it back away. I was thinking of going to a cruise tonight but clouds have built up and we've had a tiring (but productive) day. The he local club heads to a diner for lunch tomorrow. Perhaps that will work out.
  8. Sent mine in. Whether or not it makes it on time is now up to the vagaries of Canada Post and the USPS. With the the cost of a stamp to the U.S. over that of a litre of Buick fuel, an electronic voting process would be nice.
  9. But what about Dorothy? Of course, she and Toto went away for a while too, just like Terry
  10. I drove the Reatta most of the way home this afternoon. It completed its journey following a tow truck to the mechanic...after closing time...long weekend here so it won't be looked at before Tuesday. The way it behave and wouldn't restart while electrical seemed ok leads me to suspect timing chain. Sigh.
  11. Question: Minors allowed where we will be? Obviously they wouldn't be served certain elixirs.
  12. Late breakfast...should work for Mike Separated from other patrons...for their sanity and safety from the breaking glass no doubt. I will definitely be there. I will need to confirm whether any others of the clan are interested in attending.
  13. In today's world, convertibles aren't for the average person and have always been among the higher priced models. The MSRP listed on the Buick web site is only $2,000 more than the Lacrosse. The Cascada isn't even shown on the Buick Canada site
  14. I didn't drive today, but went to the local annual swap meet. A fellow from North Dakota brought up a headlight lens for the '29 for me. I spent no other money, but there were two Buicks for sale - a 1972 Electra four door HT that is occupying too many cycles in my brain right now, and a '52 Canadian small series four door sedan. I believe it was called the Custom in Canada (equivalent of Special). I'd consider that one myself, then I could pass our '52 Roadmaster to another steward who might actually do something with it. Actually, thinking about it, I did drive the Rainier to that event. If I'd had the truck, the temptation would have been greater to bring home big stuff. I briefly considered one fellow had the turbo and assorted other plumbing together as a unit from a '78 Regal.
  15. Keith - see post 242 from Jeff regarding details of Buicks at the ballpark.
  16. Question regarding the ball game: Is there an expectation that the BCA group will be sitting together as a group, or scattered around the park? Personally, I'd rather sit as a group even if the seats are poorer as I think it would be an opportunity to socialize a bit. That said, I haven't been to a pro ball game in about 25 years, so don't have a good grasp on what it would look like. At least one of my children have been to the local minor league park, but I haven't made it there yet. Thanks.
  17. Agreed Keith. It's been too long. 2008 in Oshawa, or have we encountered each other since?
  18. Finally got registered...three more Buicks to add to the list and with 4.5 drivers it should be a reasonable three days. We are just taking in Dorney and the banquet formally. With five of us the tours get a bit out of control so we will do some exploring of the area on our own. I need to remember to talk to the family about the baseball game - the only challenge is that we plan to roll in Tuesday so may be a bit tired for that. Of course with the forum breakfast and a gathering of '29 owners and many other friends to see, I don't think I'll get bored...can't speak for the kids though. It's real now.
  19. Based on the history, I guess I'd need to drive the pace car over.
  20. My vote is for the Buick. That said, I've been married long enough to know my vote doesn't mean much...it and a couple bucks will buy you a cup of coffee.
  21. I took the middle child out to the country to swap the proper wheels onto the pace car, then I drove it home. Everything went well, except we gave up on putting all the Center Lines on the donor car to get it off the jack stands. I'm presently working on cleaning up and installing the trim rings and center caps on the car (even though what I have isn't very nice, they do dress it up quite a bit.
  22. Apparently my parents honeymooned at Niagara Falls. I understand they drove there from Saskatchewan in the '57 Chev Dad had when they were married.
  23. I may be older than I was a few days ago, but I remain a relative youngster in these parts so I ought to be able to remember something. Who can forget Jordan's reaction to you waking him up to a tractor being towed....
  24. Several...understatement of the week methinks
  25. Or make the Spam slices thicker and get Arrie to find you some goose eggs...may need to bake rather than fry for that though. Now why can't I remember important things?
