Thanks for the explanation Sean. I'd never previously heard of that division.

Is it CXD or could it be CKD for complete knock down, which is how I understand they were shipped. I will have to go to my computer to take a look at the McLaughlin numbers I have.

Raise your hand if you drove at least one old Buick this weekend

That really changes the look and character of the truck Larry. Now you can go for ice cream in the rain -
Congrats to all who put their name forward. If I got it right, 2631 votes were cast. If everyone who voted selected three candidates then only 877 ballots were submitted, including spouse votes. Of course, I got mine sent late so I don't know whether it made it on time or not, particularly coming from another country / postal service. I think finding a way to encourage increased voter participation ought to be on the executive radar. Good luck to the new board.

Texas Road Warriors --- Brookfield or Bust (into beer and cheese)
Thriller replied to old-tank's topic in Buick - General
Perhaps "beer and brats" is more acceptable. That said, I do recall a Texan bringing wine to the forum gathering for the "gift" exchange. Chuck, we are all getting older...one day at a time. -

For folks coming from a southerly direction if you leave yourself time on the way up or down, Suzanne and the boys recommend the Volo auto museum in Volo Illinois. -
Try contacting Tony Bult in Whitewater, Wisconsin. There was a feature about him in the October (?) 2016 Bugle. He does restorations and specializes in 27-29 vintage. He's a go to guy for 1929 Buicks. I don't recall whether he rebuilds carbs or not, but if not, he gets good results somewhere. He also has some parts.

I like those Cielo and Wildcat concepts. That modified boat tail Riviera is kind of neat too. -
The '41 has a very similar one to that in the parts manual. It is loose right now, so if I get out there tomorrow I will try to take a few photos.

I have something for the Yankee swap, but don't know yet if I'll be there (will know next week).

I've seen you drive the Landau more than any of your '54s...just sayin'

A 4x4 is what Dad used backing the grain truck up to the auger. He lined it up once then put up a flag to guide left/right and the lumber behind the rear tire. Subsequent trips were quicker and almost foolproof. Just as as we are getting the size of the new, smaller Buicks figured out in the city garage, it is time to bring in a couple of the old, long ones for the summer.

Sweet Super Matt...it's a shame I haven't won the lottery yet. -
The brakes are probably still mechanical (1936 was the first year for hydraulic brakes for Buick if I recall correctly). Is the cost you have for just tires, or tires, tubes, and flaps? If the former, there will be more involved. Restoring the wooden artillery wheels on my 1929 is in the $300 per wheel range, so I'm going to have the better part of $5000 in wheels and tires. I wanted to do a bunch of that work myself, but just wasn't getting to it. If it were me, I'd strongly consider the restored one over this one. Of course, money isn't everything. There can be joy in doing the work yourself and enjoying the car. We are just trying to ensure you go into this with eyes open. Good luck.

Oh man...life was easier when I was just thinking about visiting this car in Jawja. Now I have to tell She Who Must Be Obeyed about it.

I like that wagon limo. -
Leno has more money and can make a decision about what to do with his money quite easily. The club is effectively tun by committee which requires a degree of consensus.

Man oh man...beginning to think the car is saying "I'm almost 80 son, give an old feller a break and let me ride". -
I believe we still have a VHS/CRT unit that we purchased for the minivans we drove that became like a console between the captains seats.
