  1. According to Google Translate: Offered is a Buick Model 27 50C with chassis number 121358 and Motornummer 17223027. The vehicle is perfect for the construction of a racing car or a tourer. The 5,6L 6 cylinder engine has been completely overhauled and brought up to date, of this work there is an extensive photo documentation. The engine has a set "Triple SU Bronze Carburettors" of an Alvis 4.3. The Buick is in very good condition and many parts are double. *** The vehicle can be inspected in Beaulieu at the booth of PreWarCar R706 R707 ***
  2. I was about to say our cars get stored over the winter and you want your protection to at least -40. It doesn't get that cold every winter, but we do always hit -30 at some point (typically January).
  3. It was a little bittersweet today as I drove the Electra out to the country. Aside from some shuffling around, she is probably done for the season. There's just too many driving or nearly driving here in the city and I need to be able to house them. Aside from a lack of functioning AC, I really do like driving that car. I'm not sure it counts, but we also moved the 1962. Put some air in the tires and pushed it to one side of the garage after tidying up. The garage is big enough that I should now be able to drive the Skyhawk in when the time comes.
  4. Mike's Buick Garage. I like the sounds of that. Good luck with the purchase Mike. Some snowbirds head to Galveston so I could be persuaded to come down and turn a wrench some January.
  5. The side of the car (ambulance?) says Leeuwarden, which is in the Netherlands.
  6. I'd be interested myself in one if it fits my 1929. Tony Bult in Wisconsin has done this conversion previously. He specializes in 27-29 Buicks so it may be worthwhile to contact him.
  7. Some of us here met Penn College auto restoration students last summer at the Buick Club of America celebration in Allentown. The folks at the Bulfari shops may be able to answer some of your questions.
  8. It was a lot of fun as the Skyhawk attracted a lot of attention between the colour and the relative rarity. A lot of folks walked up initially thinking it was a Monza. This low mileage, nice overall condition car is a keeper. There are a few things to do. One of the first will be to go over it with Meguiars cleaner, polish, and wax. I'm definitely enjoying having added it to the collection. I went through the BCA roster tonight. There are only two other 1976 Skyhawks listed and six from 1975 to 1980. I guess it makes sense that these aren't seen very often.
  9. Enjoy it while it lasts. You never know when something may crop up. I need to get better at making lists.
  10. We went to a local cruise night tonight. I drove the Skyhawk and Suzanne drove the Reatta. British cars were featured tonight - I have some photos on the camera. Only one obligatory GN tonight.
  11. The Skyhawk made its debut last weekend for a few car club guys and it made its public debut at a local cruise night tonight. A local British car club was the feature club tonight so Morgans, Jags, Austins and Minis abounded. Aside from ours, there was a 67 Riv, 73 Centurion, a custom 55, and a 36 convertible.
  12. A number of folks have talked about tires ad nauseum. My 1941 rides very nicely with bias ply tires and some have said the ride on these old cars can be poorer with radials. I've never done such a switch myself except on the 1966 Wildcat which is a very different car. That said, changing tires without verifying suspension condition would be unwise in my opinion.
  13. Local car club I belong to now pays a contractor for web site and publishing the newsletter. We have a volunteer editor who assembles the articles, but the publisher does the layout. This was done many years ago when I could no longer keep up with the desire for a more modern web site and it helps to lighten the load to actually be able to get an editor.
  14. Enjoy! It's a neat facility. I've been there a couple times but can't say I've seen it all.
  15. Drove the Skyhawk last night to spend an evening celebrating a friend's birthday. Suzanne drove the car for the first time on the way home. Among other brands, he has a 1938 McLaughlin-Buick Special and a 1947 Roadmaster convertible.
  16. Bernie, that was my first reaction / thought when I saw the thread title too.
  17. I can really only speak for my 1941 Special, but these are nice. Relatively comfortable, enough power to drive reasonably quickly, and such smooth, quiet engines. My wife loves that it is so smooth. Ok, now I'm working in my brain that it is overdue to get mine out again. So many Buicks so little time. A couple friends here have 1938s as well. That remains a floor shift while the '41 is three on the tree.
  18. I washed the Wildcat this morning and drove it out to the country. I fired up the Reatta and brought it back to the city. Looking forward to having power brakes again.
  19. I don't have a copy of the photo, but my Wildcat had a trailer hatch when I bought it. The previous owner had used it to tow a trailer (I saw a photo years ago - I think it was a tent trailer but I can't be certain). Once or or twice we used the Rainier to tow the boat and truck to pull the heavier tent trailer. It's an 18' Lund Explorer and while it pulls fine, the fuel economy goes to crap. Tiny mirrors pose a challenge too.
  20. Something is wrong...I don't see a cigar.
  21. I wouldn't. I've towed a couple times with our 6 cylinder Rainier. It is truck-based vehicle so is stronger from the frame perspective. That said just towing my aluminum boat sucked the fuel economy down to where it didn't make sense to use that instead of the truck. I wouldn't consider pulling the tent trailer (2800 lbs give or take with a maximum loaded weight of 3500). I don't know what they are rated for but it always scares me seeing vehicle used for towing that aren't really designed for it. I haven't looked into into it but have wondered if possible (based on contract) and feasible to rent a truck every now and again when necessary to tow.
  22. To quote the philosophers Boney M, "oh those Russians".
  23. Best wishes Mike! A 1953 Super is tempting. With having just purchased two more cars recently though, I don't see it happening.
  24. Counting parts / project cars I currently own 22 Buicks. This is out of control.
