  1. McLaughlin may very well have done things differently than Buick in the US in terms of colours. That said, I don't know the details for 1923. Lamar, how big is that dog house of yours? You may need to let me buy that car instead especially since I don't need to cross an international border with it
  2. I saw my Invicta today...nothing has changed other than the continuing deterioration caused by time. It isn't nearly as nice as this one. Time and money are all that stand between me and getting another four or five cars on the road.
  3. All these '59s and nary a Tampico Red LeSabre wagon among them...gonna have to fix that.
  4. Tony Bult (featured in the October 2016 Bugle if I remember correctly) machined some from aluminum for the 1929. I don't know if 1928 is the same. I have his contact info but would need to get to the computer.
  5. Depends how close the ice cream is to the exhaust and whether home is in a straight line or corners need to be taken.
  6. Mine is plated, but it is a McLaughlin-Buick, which has some small differences.
  7. I'm just hoping to get out to the country where the old cars are let alone driving. Soon grasshopper.
  8. It seems to me my Special just has rubber bumpers in the holes...some of them have been crudely shaped so I don't expect they are original though.
  9. Hmmph...perhaps I was a bit too quick pulling the trigger on the Envision.
  10. Good thing you're protecting that little black beauty. For my my own health I should stop looking at this thread.
  11. My little girl has grown up some since then...should have a degree in just over a year. There were here a couple fifty-fours hanging out later with a couple young ladies hanging out on them. Hope I haven't lost those photos.
  12. Cool. Dennis chose my 1954 Century Estate Wagon as "Cruiser of the Week" at a local cruise night a number of years back. He's quite the character. At the brunch earlier that day he made sure to spend a few minutes chatting with everyone there.
  13. That would be the 1962 Electra. Full size for 1962 had that headlight arrangement.
  14. If I was a US citizen, I'd plead the 5th. That said, there is a degree of the voice of experience involved.
  15. Suzanne likely wouldn't tolerate that...four is likely a hard maximum if we are able to attend.
  16. If there is interest...that's funny. It's one of the highlights of a meet. Breakfast at happy hour is about the right speed for the crew that shows up. Of course, I'm uncertain right now as to whether I will be in Wisconsin or not...sigh.
  17. I love the colour of the LeSabre. That Special would be a great car to get young folks into the hobby...or for someone who likes driving an old Buick but wants to get better fuel economy. My youngest wants a car, but I don't think that is what he's after. Besides, he's broke and I'm pretty much out of space until I can move some pace cars to the old shop.
  18. Grin. That'll change soon now that you have joined the ranks of pre-war Buick owners.
  19. Hello everyone. Work is progressing on my 1929's artillery wheels. In discussion with the wheel shop, the owner had two different opinions from his people. One was to stain the wood, and the other is to oil. I understand these were to have a pinstripe, so I'd thought all along that something like a marine varnish was the answer. I like the idea of oil for the health of the wood, but I'm not sure we could then apply any pinstriping (not the end of the world...absolute correctness is not a huge deal here) and oil needs to be redone more frequently. That said, I think it would be easy enough to do myself. Thoughts? Thanks. I will work on additional research, but have limited time before I need to call him back.
  20. I really can't do justice to your question. My car is under restoration, so I haven't put any miles on in a 1929 myself. About all I know is that '29s have been used in a number or rallies. Bill McLaughlin, who publishes a newsletter on 1929 Buicks, puts a lot of miles on his car.
  21. My copy probably won't arrive before I leave town next week...sigh.
  22. Pretty cool Beemon. I had to look up WSU...I have in-laws in Spokane so I've been in the general vicinity, but not really south of the Interstate. Good to hear the trip went fairly well.
