  1. Now, I never suggested it would be a quick drag race...think of it like a measured cruise departing a stop light to see who can get to the yonder fence post sooner.
  2. Well, now, it's handy that you got yourself a prewar Buick mechanic to visit Buick Gardens too. Does anyone else foresee a '38 drag race between MrEarl and Mark Shaw in their respective two doors? Congrats on the find and surviving the purchase.
  3. Is that the 1929 known as Benson? It has been written up fairly extensively in the Silver Anniversary Buick Club Newsletter. I don't recall details, but it has gone through a few long distance rallies although I don't recall if all were completed. One could do do much worse than choosing a 1929 Buick.
  4. I see...who dat? I can't say he's familiar.
  5. That's what living in a news-free, commercial-free zone will do to me...I had no clue there was a spokesperson for the Enclave. So so is there someone hot who is the spokesperson for my Envision? I'm really liking it and today went over 1000 km on the odometer. There's still lots I don't know about it though...need to study the owner's manual.
  6. Would that be the feller who runs what he calls Buick Gardens?
  7. You don't want to hear about the rest of this year's travel schedule then. New Orleans was just the first stop.
  8. I have a 1923 4 cylinder with motometer and could verify measurements etc., but I don't know how soon I will be able to get out to where it is located.
  9. Perhaps, but that is where and when the training session is scheduled.
  10. Whimper...news this weekend suggests I may not be able to attend as I may be in Honolulu. This won't be confirmed for a while yet though. Sigh.
  11. If I remember correctly, 1928 was the last year for the reverse H shift pattern. Neat car.
  12. Dealers need to keep stock on hand too. When we got the Regal, the dealer had to bring it in from another dealership. They had zero new Regals in stock but a parking lot full of trucks and SUVs (granted a semi-rural dealership). We bought the Regal without ever actually having sat in nor driven one. That said, we generally trust Buick and most won't do that. When we went to pick it up, the salesman commented how good-looking it was and that they should get some...sigh. It seems rare that dealers have what I want.
  13. I'd say we age at the same rate as our cars - one day at a time. Depending on conditions, we may deteriorate faster at times though.
  14. Thanks so much Marty! It was great to meet you and your lovely southern belle. Your hospitality was above and beyond. This man put a number of miles on his SUV driving us around. It was a new experience for us with oysters and the city. Car guys really are the best. We got enough of a taste of the Big Easy that we are certainly interested in a return trip. We did do a bit of walking around the French Quarter and got a few souvenirs. The convention was great and should lead to an income increase that will allow us to travel as we desire...love it.
  15. Yup, would seem. One more thing to eventually address. Typically, when driving the old cars, I rely on my GPS receiver for speed and learn the characteristics of the speedo. As it is, our posted speeds here are km/hr so I have to do some conversions anyway.
  16. Cargo, or a Heil seat, a la 2006 in Mark's truck?
  17. We would plan to attend, assuming no conflicts. Right now, we don't know how many of the five of us will be in Wisconsin. The young'uns may have jobs they won't be able to get away from.
  18. Hi Bronko, The reality is that, with the exception of perhaps a wrecker, you aren't going to find much in the way of Canadian vendors unfortunately. So, our hobby is generally 1.3x that of the U.S. hobbyist. I do get up to Edmonton every couple years at least as we have family and friends that way.
  19. You weren't really shopping if you only got baked goods and no sausage
  20. Thanks again Ed. Now I need to win over the war department.
  21. I'd have been tempted on a GS, particularly with the siz speed, but the car wasn't primarily for me. Maybe next time. If the GSC roster was updated without me needing to remember to send off an email, that would be grand That does remind me I should touch base with the BCA office...they know about the LeSabre.
