  1. the REO club is very active and they have a facebook page. You should post it there also.
  2. Big Al restoration circa 1968. Back to back trips from Boston to Auburn in 69 & 70. I have clear memories of those trips as a little kid.
  3. I said this somewhere else, but for every 540K or 300SL Mercedes built they would make 100 econo-boxes.
  4. Weather is conspiring against me. We are getting 3-5 inches of snow 20 miles north of here tonight. Fortunately just rain and a minor amount of slush here. But we are consistently seeing crappy wet weather ever other day. If it isn't raining then it rained the day before and there are puddles everywhere. I did have the Cord out for about 30 minutes earlier this week but failed to take a picture which I know will be frowned upon. So instead I posted a picture of it in the snow from 50 years ago. I did want to say those 810/812 Cords really can move for prewar.
  5. I like his enthusiasm. I think it is a plus.
  6. Don't forget #4. Those original plates are part of the provenance of the car. If it is a valuable car I guarantee you it is less valuable with the shiny plates.
  7. Sometimes. Or the two speed automatic.
  8. Best way to generate interaction is to post some pictures and history. That usually gets guys engaged.
  9. I do not believe the CCCA or AACA deducts for original tags that are not perfect. In the distant past they might have which started the trend of replacing the tags. Perhaps a judge can chime in. I can tell you for certain valuable cars, especially open 12 cylinder Packards, Mercedes 540K, etc, not having your original tags is going to cost you measurable money when you go to sell the car.
  10. For decades, Restorers would replace their original tags with shiny new ones. I think it’s a mistake. Keep the original tags. Just clean them up as best you can.
  11. Joe, we have a thread somewhere that talks about build quality among various coachbuilders. I think the consensus was that Brewster made the highest quality bodies prewar. I feel like the English builders made more stylish closed bodies than their America counterparts typically. Some English builders had a reputation for great quality also. Not all.
  12. I was going to say the same thing. As for valuing the car, I do not believe you will get the 4k back. Project cars are very hard to sell these days. I was shocked that this Chevy only brought 9K all in at the Mark Smith Auction. It has been customized in period and was a coupe in fairly good shape. That tells you everything you need to know about the early Chevy market. https://www.goodingco.com/lot/1926-chevrolet-series-v-superior-coupe/
  13. Depends on the chassis length and body. The Convertible Coupes had a higher speed ratios than the sedans. I know nothing about the automatic transmission cars. Supposedly a Royale was good for 90mph. I wouldn't know as I have driven my car a total of 1/4 of mile in 10 years.
  14. You needed to know where the sweet spot had moved to. Sometimes a problem when you really needed the horn fast.
  15. Whitewalls on a Model A look foolish. It 100% depends on the condition of each of the 3 cars. Which ever one is the best car will be the guy that gets the best deal.
  16. Post some pictures and I'll tell you what the car is. I believe they had a smaller eight but I'm not sure. Wheelbases were all over the place 124 to 152.
  17. 359 Cubic Inch straight eight cast in Nickel Alloy. Rated at 125HP. Manufactured by REO. I know nothing about the cars further down the line up.
  18. I was just driving the divider version of this the other day. Great cars!
  19. Depends. I would generally agree with you but if the frame is rotted and it is a late series II with an automatic it isn't worth as much as you would think.
  20. I have always thought these were cool. So many 400/4 barrells out there that a OHC performance engine is so unique and different.
  21. This. My experience in the Mustang world is that NOS is gold, original is better and replacement parts are junk.
