  1. In the Model A segment of the hobby there have been a myriad of suggestions and uses. I used mineral oil in my Houdaille shocks. In my current Model A I have installed tube shocks.
  2. Most of the good stuff from the Virgil Marple collection was sold off in the last year or two. 25 or so years ago I sold four Studebakers to Virgil, one convert and three parts cars. The convert is long gone but the three parts cars are in the auction.
  3. The last time I mounted clincher tires was last summer.....an 82 F. sunny day which really softened up the tires. I could almost mount them with my hands and knees! I did use very hard plastic tire spoons (for bicycles) and did not scratch the rims but did leave some marks. We have not seen family/friends for two months also.....things are still going backwards here so no end in sight yet. Fortunately we have cyber connections and a never ending list of things to do around home. Looking forward to better times and to see what the new normal is. Take care and be safe!
  4. Bullrun....send me a PM with particulars about Ken Siefert’s auction. I plan on checking it out on May 31. I will not bid on anything (full garage!) but I know Ken’s son Greg and will meet him there for a tour. If anyone else has SERIOUS interest in a particular car I can give you a report also. Send a PM. Jeff P.
  5. There was one F/S in similar condition like this in southern MN last fall asking $ 8,000. I called on the second day of the C/L ad and it was spoken for. A subsequent call Days later confirmed the sale went through.
  6. During my search for a car project/recommission I have noted that asking prices are very soft and sellers are very negotiable. Often I am the only one to inquire about certain cars. Last week I purchased a very nice stalled restoration project for 1/2 of asking price. The asking price was reasonable to begin with but the seller was more interested in moving this out rather that maximizing $$. Strange times.....there are lots of potential bargains out there!
  7. This car was advertised at 8K on FB Marketplace, had a pending sale which came off. Seems like lots of reasonably priced interesting cars popping up f/s now.......
  8. Gil, I have always told my friends you are one of my old car heros, now having shown us the light (the trifecta + 1) you are at the top of the heap! I like to drive my T through a local nature preserve also. There are plenty of “lava-trees” there also.😀😀😀
  9. This YOM plate as received on my 1930 Ford Phaeton was transferred to my 1930 Tudor when I sold the Phaeton.
  10. I received my copy last Monday......I absolutely love the ‘42 Chrysler pictured on the cover.
  11. Here are two pics, first is a demountable wheel, second in non demountable. The third picture is my 1913 Runabout, another green ‘13. I have never seen any evidence of green being the factory color for 1913. I run the demountables on my ‘13 as it is my driver, making any flat tires a quick change.
  12. There ya go Keith.....pick up the radio, install it, turn it up good and loud and those noises you now can hear will certainly go away!😀😀😀!
  13. I had an interesting YOM plate on my 1948 Packard I sold last year.....
  14. Al, this is all I have for my striping: Also a small sample of the stripe I did on my Ford Cabriolet:, Encourage your son.......
  15. Just yesterday I bought/brought home a stalled restoration project that was already licensed YOM in Minnesota.
  16. Yep, my father-in-law got caught up in the cow magnet craze back years ago.....he bought a handful and passed them along to all the kids. I never bought into the theory and just left them in my toolbox. Still there. They do come in handy quite often as I have “sausage fingers” and often drop nuts, washers etc into nooks and crannies on the old cars.
  17. I think red stripe on green is one of the prettiest combinations, yours looks fantastic. I love your green color. Yes, the wheels on my 1913 Ford are from a later car, demountable from the rim. Best for me as I do a lot of driving. Never have had a flat tire though. I do have the original wheels.
  18. OR, do you have some other sort of interesting plate.....let’s see a picture of them! Here are mine, both on Fords......
  19. I admire your skills in pin-striping. It is a real art, one needs the skill, the right touch and feel, and an artists’ eye......none of which I possess! Using just two different brushes I did stripe one car, my 1929 Ford Cabriolet. Pictured below is the product I used. It was OK. I also striped the wheels on my Model T years ago, can’t remember what paint I used. Also pictured below.
  20. I don’t know the production #’s but there can’t be very many with “three on the tree”.
  21. Here is one for sale in our area.......makes me want to turn and run the other way! Beauty is of course in the eye of the beholder.
