  1. Oops, the boys are NOT six feet apart!!
  2. I don’t need a picture, just the number.....send me a pm and let me know where in MN you are.
  3. I used BaT to sell a car and it worked out very well. They know the market well (in my case) and helped me set a realistic reserve which turned out to be within 5% of the final sale price. Their clock reset at the end resulted in a few extra $$ for me.
  4. I have a friend who has the State of MN. License plates issued record book that starts in 1909 goes to 1915-16. If you send me a picture of the plate I can obtain the original data when the plate was issued such as name of person, make of car and city of residence.
  5. Love reading this saga...my first post. Congratulations on taking on this very special project. You are a brave man in addition to your many talents! Were the early cars (say pre-1909) lubrication systems known as “total loss lubrication”?
  6. One can purchase a basically correctly restored ‘57 Bel Air Convert for 60k here in our market....check FB Marketplace. I have seen prices softening on these cars. I agree with Ed that the ‘57 is a pretty good barometer of the condition of the under 100K market. I have seen some decline in the top ‘57 models.
  7. My cars I have to make like a monkey to get at the valves for adjustment. Yours look like a direct shot......
  8. Yes 1946 Dodge D-24 coupe 1979-88. Loved it! Also had a 1951 Ply Concord coupe I drove in college 1974. Good car too!
  9. Video was great! Love that ‘53 also.......next week I am going to look at a ‘49 Windsor f/s near me.
  10. After fighting with the wiring on my ‘48 Packard for a year I “bit the bullitt” and bought a new wiring harness from Rhode Island Wiring.....expensive but it solved all electric issues and I never had an electical issue after that. Good move.....
  11. “Not doing much work these days, trying get my cars out for weekly drives to keep them limbered up. I may start some work on my 34 Chev and will share on my thread. I was thinking about starting a thread here for my 66 Monaco wagon. I already shared my A/C conversion on the Technical forum. If I start a thread here it would be for preservation stuff rather than restoration, would there be any interest?” absolutly YES!!
  12. I have a neighbor who is slowly restoring a ‘30 Hupp. He is replacing wood and aligning doors etc. A tedious job but he enjoys it. Good luck with yours!
  13. Yup, that was my problem too on the above mentioned Packard. I fussed around too much, needed to “pull the trigger” first then worry about the details.........
  14. Yes Dave, that is the one that got away from me and I had my chance.
  15. I installed a new radiator from Brassworks on my 1913 Model T runabout. Kinda like putting a silk bow on a sow.......
  16. I think either option sounds good to me.....details are fun.
  17. I helped my friend Bud pull many a Crosley motor years ago......maybe I should say we lifted them out!
  18. That color looks great.....maybe a double 1/8” and 1/16” pinstripe in red or wheat would really set them off!
  19. I was going to install a new radiator in my Model T. As soon as the hood and old radiator were removed I took one look at the motor and ugh, it needed a painting pretty badly. So, there it is. Now I have to coat the intake/exhaust manifolds with high heat paint and reassemble. Should be on the road Sunday (while I still can!).
  20. This was last Sunday: A most pleasurable task was accomplished today. I woke my Model T up from its’ winter nap and prepared it for the coming driving season. My son stepped right up and offered to take it for a shakedown cruise. I planned on being the copilot until the queen of their household pulled rank on me. Needless to say Grandpa was a pushover! Veronica is looking forward to learning to drive a Model T when she is tall enough.
  21. An excellent post by Ryan Cochrane, Jalopy Journal owner. Although his focus is hot rods, his idea is certainly applicable to any car group. As soon as possible, weather permitting, I want to organize some type of run for the antiques here in Minnesota. Ryan’s column: “I came into this week thinking the rest of the world was going to be forced to live like me for a few days and just stay home. As things have progressed and the reality of Covid-19 has set in, it’s starting to look a lot more like people are gonna be grounded for a month or so… if we are lucky. More likely, this thing will leave us isolated for a few months or more. Last night at the dinner table, Tardel and I were thinking… Man, wouldn’t this be the perfect time for a good old fashion reliability run? Gas is cheap, there’s no traffic, and technically you wouldn’t be breaking any CDC guidelines if you didn’t feature any social stops. I mean, I don’t think it would be socially irresponsible – would it? This isn’t rhetorical – I am honestly curious. This literally could be a once in a lifetime opportunity to do a traditional hot rod reliability run through downtown Austin, Manhattan, Chicago, LA, Houston, etc… The visuals would be nothing short of spectacular. I dunno man… We could be on to something. *** Regardless, it looks like we are all down and out for a pretty good spell and I thought it might be cool to have a group brainstorm session of sorts. What do you plan on doing with your hot rod/custom life for the next few months? How are you gonna enjoy this thing of ours while avoiding that other thing? What could we do together without being together? With isolation comes opportunity… Opportunity that we are likely never to see again in our lifetime (if we are lucky). Why not make an effort to make some lemonade?”

  23. Hi Steve, The 1912 Hudson 33 was/wasn’t/was/wasn’t for sale. I think the family just wanted me to get it running for them. When I figured that out I returned it to them. It will never leave their nest.
  24. Hoping you can update soon with some interesting progress ........love this thread!
