Buick 55 century in Windsor grey color, how?!
Jeff Perkins / Mn replied to Selim's topic in General Discussion
When I was growing up our next door neighbor had a 1956 Buick Century Convert, Gray with a black/white interior. It was very sharp looking. In 1960 they bought a new ‘60 Buick Invicta 4dr. (became my first car in 1969) and the Century was then parked outside as we all had one car garages. Deterioration ensued and it was eventually traded in on a ‘65 Electra. Man, I loved that Century, it was a beautiful car! -
Moved the car show outdoors.....now we are properly situated six feet or more apart: Meanwhile I got things arranged in the “kennel” so proper physical distancing can be practiced:

Neat picture.....looking forward to a driving report!

OK, when I get the plate # from Hertzy I will check on both of them. -
My friends say I spend more time cleaning than working in my shop. Genetics......I got the cleaning gene and my sister got the shopping gene.....she is happy and broke, I am happy and clean.....

Well done video and explanation of the crankcase area! Although I have “been there/done that” it is a good refresher for me to hear this from another perspective. I enjoyed it very much! Although opinions vary widely I too would go 10w30 oil for the driving season.

Oops, the boys are NOT six feet apart!!

1904 Oldsmobile Curved Dash on BAT
Jeff Perkins / Mn replied to Ken_P's topic in Automobiles and Parts - Buy/Sell
I used BaT to sell a car and it worked out very well. They know the market well (in my case) and helped me set a realistic reserve which turned out to be within 5% of the final sale price. Their clock reset at the end resulted in a few extra $$ for me. -

I have a friend who has the State of MN. License plates issued record book that starts in 1909 goes to 1915-16. If you send me a picture of the plate I can obtain the original data when the plate was issued such as name of person, make of car and city of residence. -
1903 Cleveland Roadster project
Jeff Perkins / Mn replied to Sloth's topic in Our Cars & Restoration Projects
Love reading this saga...my first post. Congratulations on taking on this very special project. You are a brave man in addition to your many talents! Were the early cars (say pre-1909) lubrication systems known as “total loss lubrication”? -
One can purchase a basically correctly restored ‘57 Bel Air Convert for 60k here in our market....check FB Marketplace. I have seen prices softening on these cars. I agree with Ed that the ‘57 is a pretty good barometer of the condition of the under 100K market. I have seen some decline in the top ‘57 models.

My cars I have to make like a monkey to get at the valves for adjustment. Yours look like a direct shot......

Yes 1946 Dodge D-24 coupe 1979-88. Loved it! Also had a 1951 Ply Concord coupe I drove in college 1974. Good car too!

1952 Studebaker Commander Starlight Coupe
Jeff Perkins / Mn replied to Eric W's topic in Our Cars & Restoration Projects
After fighting with the wiring on my ‘48 Packard for a year I “bit the bullitt” and bought a new wiring harness from Rhode Island Wiring.....expensive but it solved all electric issues and I never had an electical issue after that. Good move..... -
What are you working on right now?
Jeff Perkins / Mn replied to Jeff Perkins / Mn's topic in Our Cars & Restoration Projects
“Not doing much work these days, trying get my cars out for weekly drives to keep them limbered up. I may start some work on my 34 Chev and will share on my thread. I was thinking about starting a thread here for my 66 Monaco wagon. I already shared my A/C conversion on the Technical forum. If I start a thread here it would be for preservation stuff rather than restoration, would there be any interest?” absolutly YES!! -

I have a neighbor who is slowly restoring a ‘30 Hupp. He is replacing wood and aligning doors etc. A tedious job but he enjoys it. Good luck with yours! -
Tell us about the one that got away........
Jeff Perkins / Mn replied to Jeff Perkins / Mn's topic in General Discussion
Yup, that was my problem too on the above mentioned Packard. I fussed around too much, needed to “pull the trigger” first then worry about the details......... -

Yes Dave, that is the one that got away from me and I had my chance.
