  1. When I hit the big 6-0 I realized that it WAS getting more difficult to have fun with the maintenance side of the hobby. An alarm went off and I made some big changes that now allow me to “make like a monkey” when I work on my cars. Now approaching 67 I find it more fun and easier than ever to work on this stuff. I did run ethanol free gas in my ‘48 Packard and it made a big difference over regular gas. Not so with the old Fords....4-1 compression doesn’t need the good stuff.
  2. Having never adjusted valves on a running motor I would think that would be a messy job? I just adjusted valves on my Model A, pulled the plugs and, using “the rule of 9” I methodically went through the process. Results were like yours, much smoother runner. I would definitely recommend a new radiator for your car.....I eventually do purchase new radiators for all my old cars, especially the Fords. I have had issues with existing radiators when I purchase an oldie so, instead of patching old ones I pop for a new one. Saves a lot of fiddling around and long term grief.
  3. Baudette is about as far North in Minnesota as one can go......quite a ways from everywhere else in this country. Nothing to a citizen of the north (Keith) though. If I got this one I would immediately delve into Keith’s great videos for some guidance.
  4. Having owned and driven a 22nd series Packard I can certainly attest to the quality and drivability of these automobiles. Having sold mine last year I find I do really miss it......
  5. Can’t recall ever having a trike or any kind of bike as young child. I learned how to ride on a neighbor’s bike. My mother bought this one for me when I was 7. First one I called my own.
  6. I would love to have a restored version of this car.......to get this car to that point I would have to go out in the back yard and shake the money tree as hard as possible. Even then I don’t know if I would get enough $$$ to restore this one!
  7. That is a neat picture, good eye! Being retired and an early bird, I find 5-7 ayem to be the best time to drive my older cars. No traffic. Just got in from a 20 mile ride in my Model T.
  8. I enjoy reading other’s postings about cars for sale, I spotted this one in MN on Facebook Marketplace. I have no interest in the sale of this car. Sorry about the pictures but my iPad won’t let me download. Here is the seller’s description: Seller's Description Solid California car have Mn title. Have been collecting parts for seven years. Complete project car have all trim and extra parts. Rare car that doesn’t come up for sale all that often. Contact for more pictures & info. Car has been in heated garage for seven years.
  9. It should be pretty easy to find a good running engine to swap in. There are always several running / driving / very rusty Dodges from these years (46-48) for sale on FB Marketplace or Craigslist for 2K and under. I see there a 5 in my area, all run. I would find the best runner, offer 1/2 or less asking and I bet you could get one for under a grand. You would have a good supply of spare parts too. I had a ‘46 Dodge Club Coupe back in the late 70’s and loved it.
  10. I went to a Model A & T swap meet like that yesterday in Minnesota. First one this year......finally! Picture taken at 7 ayem, 24 vendors in all showed up by 9:00.
  11. I looked at a ‘48 Lincoln at auction for a person on this board. Cadillac conversion. The installer even put a plate on the firewall with his name! Todd, do you have any record of who did the conversion and when it was done?
  12. Back in 2006 I found the first 6 issues of Hot Rod for TWENTY FIVE CENTS apiece at a local garage sale! Those did not get away from me!
  13. I have had this one for years.....repainted it when I got my first car to put it on (1969). I have only seen one other but several people have told me they are quite common. The year is 1931.
  14. I had the same issue after I partially restored my ‘48 Packard. Yup, ran out of gas twice, both times wife was with. One of the most satisfying little jobs I accomplished on that car was correctly repairing the gas gauge. Thanks again for posting another video....excellent as usual!
  15. Harm, your capabilities are endless and I look forward to seeing how you progress on this phase of your project. Best wishes! Do well.
  16. Very nicely done video....as all of yours are. Looking forward to seeing the Plymouth on the road!
  17. I inadvertently marked a forum as read, wish to reverse this action......how?
  18. Ugh.....I had a Horizon for a short time after my Volare, too small. Bought an Aries and it too served me (and my customers) well for six years.
  19. I loved the slant 6 cars.....I have had several over the years, no mechanical problems.
  20. 5 Fender tops rusted out after one year, carpet never would stay in place, always came loose. I finally bought some 3M 77 and that held. Trim outside was loose, I had to glue that. All this the first year. Mechanically it was EXCELLENT, six years and 115 K miles and ZERO motor/trans issues. I actually used it for rural mail delivery.
