  1. Those wheels it has on it makes it look terrible!
  2. Buick Owners of Maryland (BOOM) is having their annual All Buick Show on Sunday September 27, located at Boyle Buick, 3015 Emmorton Rd, Abingdon, MD. Registration is 9:30 to 11:30 am. Peer Judging is noon to 2:00 pm and Awards will be given at 2:30 pm. This is a great show that the BOOM club has been doing for many years and usually has close to 100 Buicks attending. So bring out that Buick and let a lot of Buick enthusiast get a look at it. If you can't bring a Buick come and look at Buicks from prewar to the newer Grand Nationals! For more information about the Buick Owners of Maryland see our website @ www.bcaboom.org
  3. I have seen these clear tops in pictures but never in person. They have been mostly on Fords as I remember and they were one piece and not foldable. They probably were never very practical because the car would be like an oven on a sunny day!
  4. The 53 Studebaker Starliner Hardtop is a beautiful design that I have always appreciated from the time they were new cars. A friend had one in 1961 that I rode in many times and it was fast with the V8. Bob Bourke also used the bullet grille theme on the 49 Fords that he had a big part in designing.
  5. Not a good look without the sweepspears. I hope they come with the car, really makes it look bad without them. It does appear to be a solid car and depending if it runs may be worth the asking price.
  6. It looks like a solid 40 Limited with some incorrect restoration. Wood grain on the dash which should be engine turned panels. The wood graining is way too dark and not very attractive. The seller says the price is negotiable and could be worth close to the asking price in my opinion. It all depends on what the needed mechanical work would consist of.
  7. I had a 65 Skylark that I drove in the late 80's as a daily driver. It was a great car and very dependable. It had the same 300 cu in with a 2 barrel carb. If it runs good and really does have 32k it may be worth $1500 to $2000 max.
  8. g-g-g0, Love your car especially the fact it is a manual transmission. Even if it was a low end Special it was beautiful 2 door hardtop. I like the 3 piece back window too. I have always admired the '57 Buicks from the time they were new and I was a 13 year old car crazy kid!
  9. I would probably prefer the Crown Vic but no really strong feeling either way. I really like the red and white '56 Olds. That's a four door I could live with!
  10. Really great and huge with many interesting cars. A lot of the pictures have the scalloped edges that I remember well. It is well worth looking at and I will go back many times to see it all. There are a lot of old photos of very unusual (some are a little hideous) custom cars of the 40's and 50's too. Most photos are captioned and provide details.
  11. It's up to $787 now, still a good buy for this rare Roadmaster with factory AC. I wonder if most of the windows are down or are they missing?
  12. I have never heard anyone say that the '63 Riviera was done by "ugly stylists". The car won awards for its beautiful styling when it was new. It is also a milestone car. The headlights were intended to be hidden like the '65's but there were problems with the mechanisms and it was not incorporated until 1965. I like the all the 63 to 65 Rivs very much. I prefer the rear end styling of the 63 & 64 over the 65 rear end, but the 65 style is very nice as well.
  13. It is a beauty with classic lines. I am wondering what engine powers it. Is the intermeccania an Italian car?
  14. You are right about that accessory center bumper guard, Michaelmis, that thing is ugly!
  15. That was a interesting video. A few of the cars looked worthy of restoration, especially the 39? Packard which looked solid. The 57 Cadillac convertible looked like a barn find and could have been saved. Thanks for posting this.
  16. Looks like there was a lot of late model GM's there and nothing from the 40's.
  17. It looks like a very nice well kept 53 Special Riviera. It's a 2 door hardtop with a manual transmission too. Its up to $4305.00 now with reserve not met yet.
  18. It would be worth it to get the car running and would sell easier and for more money than a non-running car. If it has been sitting for 8 years the gas in the tank is probably bad and will harm the engine if you attempt to start it with that gas. The tank should be drained and new gas added or it could be rigged up with a small tank of fresh gas connected under the hood. Any competent mechanic could do this if you are not comfortable trying it. Good luck and I hope you find a good home for the car.
  19. Chuck welcome to the forum. The members here are very helpful and know a lot about your car and straight eights in general. They have been a great help to me on problems with my 40 Roadmaster and I know they can help you with any questions that are sure to come up.
  20. I grew up in the 50's and it was a great time to be a kid. I was a total car nut and couldn't wait to be 16 and get my license. In fact I didn't wait for my license and did a little driving anyway. One day my mom took we to the medical office where she worked and a young intern took me for a ride in his Austin Healey and later let me drive it around the big parking lot. What a thrill it was and a great memory from about 1958 when I was 14 years old. Before that my dad took me to a farm and his friend let me drive a tractor, so I had some experience with clutches and shifting gears, which came in handy so I could drive the Healey. Got my license in 1960 and back then drive in restaurants where you parked and called in your order were big hang outs for young drivers. Sometimes you would hear the challenge "You want to run it" and a drag race would be very exciting but illegal fun!
  21. The way they were built is with the muffler attached to the pipes with clamps. I don't think it is necessary to weld the muffler to the head pipe and the tailpipe.
  22. That is a very pretty young lady and her curves complement the beautiful curves of the Buick!
  23. Fabulous car and I have to admit to being jealous!
