  1. I have had very good results from Coker tires. My 51 Ford Country Squire has bias 7.10 x 15 Firestone style WW's. They are about 20 years old and look like new with no visible cracks. My 40 Buick Roadmaster has bias 7.10 x 15 B F Goodrich style WW tires about 10 years old that look like new. Both sets of tires the WW's are still very white. I maintain them using Westleys Bleach white. I know we have discussed this on the forum before, but my taste is changing on white walls. I think my 40 Roadmaster would look more elegant with blackwalls.
  2. I drove my 63 Riv on Friday which was a nice and sunny day. Put in some fresh high test gas and took it for ride. The Riv ran great and got some thumbs up!
  3. I urge you not to "upgrade" your 57 Buick with the changes you are proposing. I have read that the 57 ball joints have more play in their design and you may not need to replace them. Others may chime in with more details. I have a 63 Buick Riviera that has the last Dynaflow and have driven it for the last 20 years with no problems except some leakage. I have found it does not leak very much if driven regularly. The Dynaflow does not shift so it feels different until you get used to it. The advantage of disc brakes is with hard usage, like going down a steep hill (mountain) and repeatedly hitting the brakes hard they resist fading. If you make the changes you are talking about the car will have a more limited appeal when it comes time to sell it.
  4. Incredible video and incredibly lucky people. It is well worth watching!
  5. Dave those pictures are great! As a kid who grew up during the fifties I remember scenes like those very well. Wonderful trip down memory lane.
  6. Nice post Bernie. Time passes very quickly and I just realized that I have had my 63 Riviera for 25 years.
  7. It would be a good idea to avoid ethanol if possible, but could be hard to find gas without it. It should run fine on regular because the compression ratio is not high and does not need high test (93 octane) gas. There has been a lot of posts in the forums about lead additives and most think it is not required except under extreme usage.
  8. Beautiful Buicks! Just curious MrEarl, how do you know the 54 Special is a 3 speed?
  9. It rolls down the road straight as long as you are towing it! It looks too rusty to even be a good parts car. That guy is dreaming if he thinks someone will pay $4500 for that car.
  10. A Flowmaster exhaust system would provide a nice deep sound as well. I had one on my 89 Chevy truck with a 350 V8 and it had a great sound.
  11. Wishing all the DF members a very Merry Christmas and a Buickfull New Year.
  12. The good side of the car looks really nice and makes it tempting. The 74's were down on power from the 71 & 72 engines because of much stricter emission laws which makes it less desirable. With the damage and lien problems, I would avoid it.
  13. Moss Motors would be a good vendor to check for transmission parts.
  14. I have had good results from Michelin tires. The first set were Michelin X that I had on my 67 Austin Healey 3000. Great handling improvement from the original bias ply tires. Since then I have used them on many cars and trucks over the years. Currently I have a set on my 95 Honda Accord, that are pretty old at least ten years old. Not sure how many miles they have gone, but it has to be at least 70,000. They could stand to be replaced but they are not showing any cracks and still have a fair amount of tread on them.
  15. It's $42K and he can't put in a new set of points?
  16. That is what I call a beautiful hood "ornament" on that Buick!
  17. The Silver Arrow is an iconic Buick and it is fitting that it is part of the "Class of 63" exhibit. I have seen pictures of it before and never realized that the top had a subtle chop.
  18. I never saw the white beauty rings on a Buick before. These were always seen on Chrysler products back in those days if my memory is correct.
  19. I have had good service from the Coker tires on my cars with no problems. My 51 Ford Woodie has the Firestone variety and have been on it for over 20 years. It has had very good storage in an insulated garage, but the tires still look like new with no cracks. Probably have only about 5000 miles on them. My 40 Buick Roadmaster has BF Goodrich about 10 years old. I have kept the whitewalls up using Westleys Bleach white and they are still very white.
  20. I like the 55 Century, but it would be best to pick the one with the least amount of rust especially the floor. Check the engines and see which ones will turn and are not locked up.
  21. Since you live in Pennsylvania you should make it a point to go to Hershey this coming week. It is the best show for prewar cars and parts. You probably know the model 96 is the top of the line Buick. Really like the car and the color of it.
  22. The show went great yesterday with a lot of outstanding Buicks. I really liked Chris's 54 with the rare and desirable 3 speed standard trans. This is a car that Mr. Earl would appreciate!
  23. That is a very nice Olds and well worth 4K. If my garage wasn't full, I would be tempted!
