  1. Don't hate me because I'm beautiful!
  2. I went to my first CCCA show on Saturday July 9 at the Turf Valley Country Club located in Baltimore County Maryland. I had a great time and everyone was very friendly. I have seen many true Classic (capital C) cars before, mostly at the fall Hershey show, but it was a real treat to see them all together. I enjoyed talking to an older getleman who had an all original Lincoln Limo (38?), that was a real beauty. He told my wife and I about the car and he was only the second owner! He also told us some great jokes and was very entertaining. Thanks to all who talked to us about their beautiful Classic cars, it made my day.
  3. Barry, The young drivers program is a great thing and it is just what is needed to get younger people into the old car hobby. You must have more patience than me. I would have a hard time teaching that many to drive a manual transmission and my nerves would be shot after a whole day of that! By the way what kind of car is the '33?
  4. Marty, The 34 looks great, very elegant. 1934 was a high point in Buick styling!
  5. The manual was saying That the .023 feeler gauge should go into the gap, but the .028 should not go in. Your .025 setting is correct and right about in the middle between the two.
  6. Matt you have a beautiful Cadillac, that is truly an impressive car. The overdrive is the icing on the cake. Having a full Classic with a capital "C" must be a dream come true for you. I am glad this magnificent car went to a person who will appreciate it and preserve it.
  7. My 40 Roadmaster starts fine with the gas pedal 99% of the time. Once in a while after it has started and been shut off a few minutes, the gas pedal start method does not work. No click or anything just like you are experiencing. The car had a back-up push button already installed when I got the car, and this will start it up just fine when the gas pedal start does not work. I installed a new wiring harness and kept the push button for the few times it won't start the normal way.
  8. You should post this in the Buick Riviera-Riviera Owners Association forum. It is in the Buick forums. Good luck! How about a Price?
  9. It is a 55 Chevy even the interior shots are 55. It is sexy and fun though!
  10. On my 40 Roadmaster it is silver. It is similar to what Ford calls argent.
  11. I use Westleys Bleche White, but I spray it on the tires dry which is what the instructions say. I use a scotch brite sponge to clean the white walls and rinse off rubbing with the sponge side. I use a scrub brush with detergent on the black part and it looks good with black matte finish. I really don't like the look of a shiny black tire with tire dressing. I have wide whites on my 51 Ford that are about 20 years old and look very white still. My cars are garaged in a well insulated garage and this helps keep the tires from deteriorating.
  12. I am listing this for a friend. 1995 Riviera has good body and engine. Maroon interior is very clean and in good condition. Transmission slips and it has an exhaust leak, probably the donut. $2000 or will consider offers. The car is in Owings Mills, Maryland. Contact the owner for more info: Ray 410-812-8477<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

  14. I will take a 48 Buick Roadmaster Convertible with manual transmission. My other pick would be a 57 Thunderbird with overdrive trans. Both of these would be good open road cars.
  15. This weekend I pulled the master cylinder and put in a rebuild kit from Bob's. I honed it lightly and cleaned it up using brake fluid. I didn't see any obvious reason why it was leaking so badly, and the snap ring was still seated properly. I guess it was leaking past the piston seal. Anyway it is back in place and does not leak.
  16. I worked at a Sinclair station in 1961 and it was a dream job for me as a car crazed teenager. I learned a lot of basic mechanics: oil & lube, fixing flats, brake jobs and tune ups. We gave out blow up Dinos and top value stamps. It was a lot of fun! One customer with 55 Plymouth would sometimes come in twice in one day for $2 gas and always a small can of top oil (upper cylinder lube). Each time he came in he always wanted it checked under the hood and check all the tire pressures! Gas was 29.9 reg and 34.9 high test.
  17. Thanks Barney, this may be my problem. the master cylinder was fine with no leak and all of a sudden it developed the problem and leaked out completely in a matter of hours. I will take it apart when I get the kit.
  18. The master cylinder is leaking very badly in my 40 Roadmaster. It is leaking out where the brake pedal linkage goes in the back of the cylinder. If I fill it up it will leak out completely over night. I got a rebuild kit ordered from Bob's and I hope this will correct the problem. Is there a seal where the linkage goes into the cylinder? Thanks for any tips that you can give me.
  19. 100% It was easy for me having grown up in the Fifties and being a car nut!
  20. It is fine to list your request for info on your 1920 Dodge here. It will probably be seen by a lot more than just in the Dodge Brothers forum.
  21. 77% Had the worst scores with the 70's Mopars.
  22. I agree the 61-63 Lincoln Continentals are beautiful cars and the sedans are a real bargain. But what about the 56-57 Continentals, which are one of the cleanest and most elegant designs of the fifties? Even through they bring a fairly high price, I think they are still under priced and somewhat under appreciated.
