  1. I wanted to replace the thermostat on my '40 Buick Roadmaster. Both bolts holding the housing snapped off with hardly any torque. They must have been corroded. They are broken almost flush to the surface where the threads are. I drilled a hole in one of them but can't get it what is left out. Any suggestions will be appreciated.<P>Woody Michel
  2. I use Dextron III in my '63 Riviera which has a Dynaflow trans. It seems to work fine. I have seen Dextron III recommended for Dynaflows in this discussion forum previously.<P>Woody Michel
  3. While I was at the Hershey car corral I spoke to a man with a '41 Buick. I noticed his engine turned dash panels looked very clean and bright. Mine on my '40 were a dark color and not very attractive. He said he had cleaned his with Acetone. It worked very well. Be careful though, Acetone is powerful stuff. Wear rubber gloves, and avoid inhaling.<P>Woody Michel<BR>'40 Roadmaster coupe<BR>'63 Riviera
  4. My 1940 Roadmaster with the 320 cubic inch straight 8 has 141 HP @ 3600 RPM and 269 FT Lbs of torque @ 2000 RPM. The last big straight 8's ('52) were up to 170 HP but I don't know what the torque rating was.
  5. Sorry Clif, I don't have side window glass.<BR>Getting new glass cut is probably the best way to go.<P>Woody Michel
  6. I have a windshield with a single crack at the driver side corner 8" long and a rear window glass that is perfect. If anyone can use these and will pick them up I will be glad to give them to you. I live in Owings Mills, MD. Email: s.l.michel@att.net
  7. Thanks everyone for your help. I just got off the phone with Gene at YnZ's. I ordered the main harness and the taillight harness! They should be here within 8 to 10 weeks. I told him that I found out about him on the Buick Discussion Forum and he was very appreciative about your comments. Thanks again, Woody Michel<P>40 Roadmaster Coupe<BR>63 Riviera
  8. I have a '40 Roadmaster Coupe model 76. It needs a wiring harness badly. I have checked and can't find one already made up for this particular model. Rhode Island Wiring only has Dash, Engine and Headlight harness' for Century's & Limited's. Would these work? They will make one up if you remove yours and send it to them. I don't want to do this. Anyone know of any other sources? Thanks for any help!
  9. We recently visited the Peterson Auto Museum in Los Angeles. It is a first rate car museum well worth the visit. BUT a WARNING! We parked on a side street: Orange Grove, and our car was broken into! We are from Baltimore and all of our luggage was STOLEN! We were left with nothing but the clothes we were wearing. Park ONLY in the museum parking garage!
