They could have just imported the Holden version from Australia before they killed that brand off. It was basically the same car as the SS.

That guy's an idiot. -
Congratulations! I've been addicted to El Caminos since I was in jr. high, around 1998. So much so that my friends started calling me El Camino Billy and it stuck. Health has prevented me from owning one but I still have dreams of someday.

Saw this big old Buick on my lawn this morning....

Last year. 2020 was the final year of it I believe. They didn't seem to sell well. Not sure I've ever seen one driving. If I didn't see one at the New York International Auto Show in 2019 I would not have known they existed. -
I'm all over the map. Lately I've had the Sirius 90s channel on a lot, but I'll go months where I only listen to 50s and 60s, or country, or my own cd collection which has everything from Mozart to the Black Eyed Peas. From Thanksgiving to Christmas it's Christmas music only.

Why not wash in the sun? Never heard that before.

There's always push back on designs that aren't boring. We should really be thankful the 50s styling survived as long as it did. I'll use a very modern example from a field outside of automobiles to prove it: the Vegas Golden Knights hockey team. They introduced a gold chrome plated helmet this year. It's never been done in the sport before, and it's awesome. Yet there has been nothing but whining about it. Much of it for the simple fact that it's new and different. The same is true for cars. They had the most unique and flamboyant designs during the 50s, so they got rid of it and made them all look mostly alike.

Great car! I've loved this era of Hudson ever since I first learned about them. Hope you post more pictures. -
PhotoScape. It does wonders. There's literally nothing I've been unable to accomplish with it. I've been using it for more than a decade now.

Clear convertible top....a trimmer's nightmare, but cool
Billy Kingsley replied to trimacar's topic in General Discussion
That looks cool...I bet has great visibility. But I can't help but think of how it's going to look when it turns yellow and starts cracking after a few years. Also, it reminds me of the clear plastic coating some people used to put on couches. I don't have fond memories of them -
This is Texas Motor Speedway. It's 0° there. It's 40° here in NY, had an ice storm and then it got sunny and warmish all in a matter of two hours.

There have been reports and photos of an orange El Camino being used hard all around the northeast. I bet it's the same one. I saw a photo of it in one of the Facebook el Camino clubs with something big in the bed, I think a ride on lawnmower. Can't really be sure at this point, it was a couple of years ago now.

My old car does not like this cold weather
Billy Kingsley replied to nick8086's topic in General Discussion
27° at the moment, was 5° earlier this week. Haven't seen the negatives yet like so many have. Coldest I've ever seen was -14° two or three years ago. I prefer cold weather so I was fine with that and am comfortable now. Mid 40s is my preferred temperature range -
Who wants to live to see their car turn 100?

My cars are a 1994 and a 2018. Yikes! -
If that's who I think it is, I've seen his website and was not impressed with his wording. Came off like everyone was an adversary. I don't visit often but I do look at the pictures occasionally.

I don't know about a Model A but I know there is a 1980s wagon and an airplane without wings in Lake George. There are people who film scuba diving expeditions and post them on YouTube. In the comments it was suggested the airplane was an artificial reef but I don't know how accurate that is. I remember seeing an Unsolved Mysteries segment on a pickup driving in near the steel pier, but I'm not sure how much of that if any was accurate.

Usually when they find cars in the Hudson River here it's because somebody drove in, and they are usually still in the car.
