  1. Why does that one gray suv look perfectly fine (minus the crushing) and the others don't? That one doesn't look like it's been underwater at all.
  2. There was a Playboy in the Saratoga Automobile Museum for a while. The owner of the car is on the AACA Facebook group, I've talked with him briefly about his car in the past.
  3. I feel that somebody could do the hobby a great favor and make a decent amount of money if they started a chain of specialty shops that catered to keeping older cars on the road. Doing the inspections, minor fixes as described by several in this thread, greasing what needs it, etc. And of course an education program to keep the knowledge alive that would be required as well. Not talking full on restorations but just the stuff that needs to be done. Seeing it as keeping as many cars on the road as possible...nothing new enough to still be under the factory warranty. Alas I have neither the knowledge, the physical ability, nor the financial resources to do it.
  4. Awesome, congratulations on your new addition. These are rare to see around here, I suspect everywhere. I've always liked Hudsons.
  5. I can't imagine ever being presumptuous enough to ask someone to let me drive their car. Even if I could see well enough to drive I wouldn't do it. Luckily, I love being a passenger and photo documenting the journey.
  6. Thank you, finally, now let's be done with this topic. I won't ask for help anymore, unless absolutely necessary.
  7. You had the link shown on the screen with a long string of numbers but it was not clickable due to it being a screencap. I have no idea what subforum each number sequence goes to, and since it was a generic topic about paint, not a brand specific question, it could be in literally any one of the categories. You have now deleted that screencap so I can't even go back and get the proper spelling, or check to see what the number sequence was. You seem more combative towards the members than actually wanting to help them, no one is questioning the time and effort you put in but that's completely irrelevant to the topic at hand. If YOU had not posted the now deleted screenshot I would not have known the thread even existed and thus would not have been looking for it. But, considering it was listed as the thread with the 8th most views, I would like to think other members would have recognized it, since I asked for help, not specifically for your help, but only one member tried to help... unfortunately he only saw the new replaced screencap which has a different thread listed as 8th most popular. Not everyone is complaining about what you are doing, although I'm certainly complaining now, it's because of how I've been treated...
  8. I tried again and it worked this time. I went back to get the proper spelling of the title and that chart is missing. Based on my memory of the thread title "what comes first, primer or sealer" I got zero results. Did the search on "what comes first" term. Not sure why there's such a lack of willingness to help me by just copy and pasting the dang link, or just tell me what section it is is so I can find it myself. It's not like I'm asking for something hard or something that requires any real effort.
  9. I don't have any real knowledge to contribute, but I want to thank all the people who have in this thread. It is one of my favorites I've read in my year on this forum. Fascinating.
  10. Nothing, it just stays on the page. I had to open and close the internet three times to even get the keyboard to appear so I could reply. I should probably just replace it but it still sort of works.
  11. I had no idea this was a known historical journey, very cool. I saved the image off Facebook years ago. Heights are one of the things that "get me". Even using the family two step stepladder is too much for me. Not that I refuse to use it, but I try to avoid it as much as possible.
  12. It doesnt work on my tablet. I've had it a long time, near the end of it's life, it's difficult to even get it to open some of the websites I visit, including my own.
  13. Not sure when, where, or what kind of car it is, but that is not somewhere I would ever want to go. I think this is the most perilous parking spot I've ever seen.
  14. Doesn't appear to be a search feature on my tablet. I see the icon but clicking it does nothing. Anyone actually willing to help me?
  15. Those bar graphs show a lot of growth, very good. How many of those comments are from the "Period Images" and White threads? edit: apparently a lot since the White thread appears three times in that chart. A lot of threads I have not seen there, I mostly stay in General Discussion.
  16. When people are at home they can spend time with their families, work on their projects, mow the lawn, etc. I actually joined the forum proper because of the Facebook group. I enjoyed seeing the cars posted and it led me here.
  17. They look bronze to me, the same composition as cents, with the silvery look being a trick of the light. The green is corrosion, and on collectibles is not fixable. I believe that is what these are... sculpture intended for wall art. I don't believe these are automotive in origin. Some people like the look with the corrosion so you may actually be able to find them a happy home, if that is your intent.
  18. Page views are a fun analytical tool but don't address the lower number of posts. I've noticed that myself, and not just on this forum...they are down all over the internet, on every forum I visit. Some have speculated that because of the virus there are less people sitting around bored at a desk job so they spend less time on message boards, but I don't know if there's any truth to it.
  19. I met Bogi and Faye from All-Girls Garage last year...They are great. I I met Derrike Cope at the New York International Auto Show also last year, who'd expect to find a NASCAR driver in the middle of Manhattan? Dang, just realized I'm wearing the same shirt in both photos. Auto Show was in April and Nationals in September, maybe it's my lucky shirt 😄 Back in 2008 I met Steve Kinser, Terry McCarl, Jac Haudenschild, Joey Saldana and other Sprint car drivers, but no photos. I had Steve Kinser sign a windshield for my scale model of his 1995 Winston Cup car. All these years later and I still have not finished it yet. In the early 1990s I met Andy Brass, Dennis Anderson, Lyle Hancock, lots of other monster truck drivers...from the era when it was still actually motorsports and not just destruction for the sake of destruction. Have pictures, can't find them. (my photo archive, of stuff my family has taken, is over 400,000 images spanning back to the 1800s) Was completely ignored by Boyd Coddington at a Goodguys show. I was just a junior high aged kid then, knew he was "somebody" but didn't know anything else about him. I do now, and I'm not a fan, so not lamenting the missed opportunity. I've seen Richard Petty, Jay Leno, Wayne Carini and Dave Kindig from a distance, but not close enough to talk to. Jay Leno was not at an automotive event, I went to one of his performances at West Point. It's possible that I have crossed paths with others, and just didn't know it. I'm pretty sure I would not recognize most movie stars if they were standing in front of me. And when I do go out, including car shows, I tend to not really talk unless I'm spoken to, so random conversations don't happen all that often. I know most of the big name people in the scale model car hobby. I've even been to Rick Hanmore's house. I know I have been on the same show field with several of the forum members here, but I had not yet joined the forum and didn't know they existed yet. I know I've photographed at least one member's car at a show without knowing it at the time. I sort of met Henry Ford last year as well... at Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum.
  20. Very nice. I have a strong affinity for Ford Wagons since that was what I grew up in, until 1991. In the time between when I was born in 1984 through 91 we had a 1970, 74 and three different 80s examples of unknown year. All were second or third hand and none lasted very long, but the memories last forever. Surprisingly the 1974 model was the last one here.
