  1. Drum brakes are more finicky about being adjusted properly. Also, as suggested, you may need to get the shoes arced. Something I've done in the past is to take a sharpie a draw lines every inch or so across the shoes. Go for a drive and then look at the shoes. You'll see where the pads are contacting and where they aren't. If the pads aren't arced properly, you won't get full engagement. The factory manual has a pretty good procedure for brake adjustment. Maybe have a pro vacuum bleed the system?
  2. Probably Mother Nature stripped it of its floor boards too, depending on how long it's been sitting there. What's the plan? Are you going to approach the landowner about it?
  3. Clean it up and try to get it running. Post your adventures here. You'll get tons of advice, some may even be useful. In the end, you may decide to keep it. A non-running neglected car won't get anyone but lowballers to show up. Personally, I love 2 door sedans. Snobs be damned!!!
  4. That was a good race for 2nd. The video started and I thought it would be the typical deal where they stretch their legs in the straights and then the little cars catch them in the corners. But that guy really held his ow thorough it all.
  5. It seems nobody here wants to admit that at one time, they were "that guy" too. I think every complaint here should be followed by a confession.
  6. The curmudgeon in me says "turn down that racket! Nobody wants to hear your stereo." That would be the cheapest and easiest solution.
  7. Probably at the end of the day it's "6 of one half-dozen of another". You're going to crawl over under and around the car either way. Probably you'll trade one pain for another.
  8. I think the logic behind those hubcaps is that they are supposed to dig in to the metal a little bit. Kind of like a star washer on a screw. If you're preventing that, you're defeating the main holding mechanism for the cap.
  9. It seems like it would be tough without the B pillar offered in a sedan. They had those tall back seats that started in the 80's with the shoulder restraint in a loop. I wouldn't think you would want those seats in your car though. This is what I did, but it's a sedan. Maybe you could put something low on the B-Pillar. It seems like it would want to fall off of your shoulder though. This is what I was describing with the shoulder thing.
  10. I'm looking for top and side radiator bracekts for 1962 Buick full size (LeSabre, Invicta, Electra). The factory AC cars had a fan shroud behind the radiator. The top center radiator bracket held the shoroud in place. There also were two shroud brackets on each side of the radiate (sorry, I don't have pics). At a minimum, I need the top bracket. If you can help, please let me know. I may also be interested in a radiator if you have a decent one. This is the radiator top bracket that I need. It holds the fan shroud in place. This is the non-AC Bracket (I don't need this one)
  11. Nope, he got that wrong too. It's a manual. Stuck in 1st gear as well. He assured me it worked when he parked it
  12. I just looked at your website, you guys do nice work.
  13. So it's missing under load or does it miss even when you rev it at a stop?
  14. If you want it to be preserved how you think it should be preserved, don't sell it. Even then, you have to die eventually and someone else will do whatever they want. It's harsh but true. Everyone has their idea about what's acceptable, even if they promise to take care of it. The former owners of my place of employment complained that the company changed after they sold. I knew a lady who sold her house to someone who promised they'd "take care of it". Well, they did take care of it, they cut down all of the viable lumber, tore down the house and built condos. I've often wondered what became of some of my old vehicles. But in truth, I probably don't want to know. It's like they say, "don't ask a question if you don't want to hear the answer".
  15. I'm curious where the condensed water drains from/to. You could probably get away with one half that size. That one looks about the size of a "boom-box" from the 80's.
  16. I have a no option 62 Lesabre that my Uncle bought new. He could have spent the same money and got a nicer Chevy, but it wouldn't have been a Buick. That's a really nice car that seems to have been well cared for its whole life.
  17. Spelling for that word seems to be all over the map; at least how the owners spell it versus how the factory spelled it. It makes it hard to do a google search.
  18. It seems like the big money would be for the parts that "aren't" there. Which you have no way of knowing upon purchase. I've done this with a few motorcycles, never a car. It's time consuming, expensive and frustrating.
