  1. I've grown quite fond of four doors. I hated them when I was younger and would have never given them a second look. I've found they're pretty handy when you want to toss a couple of kids in the back seat. You also can't tell the difference when you're looking out the front window. I guess I don't feel the need to be "cool" anymore. Which is good because I never really was "cool" anyway.

Engine locked, needs rockers, etc. Car looks very complete but nothing on the car is in especially great shape. An ambitious person probably could get it running and driving. Car was supposedly stored in a barn. He had a Michigan title from 1961. At one time, someone really cared about this car.
  4. I just read about that "why use 4 when 9 will do" mentality in a book called "The Perfectionists" by Simon WInchester. Excellent book. A quality car was an "overbuilt" car.
  5. That came out good. There's a lot of real estate on these old cars. How long did it take? Not everyone has the time, energy or money to do a paint job on an old car (me included). That shouldn't stop you from enjoying it and trying to preserve it as best you can. Good job.
  6. Go with a 3-wire. You get better voltage sensing/management. Just as easy to install.
  7. Got it. My 62 B Body had a firewall painted to match from the factory. I wasn't sure ho that carried out through the years.
  8. Look at the odometer. It shows 28K miles, not 282K miles. Someone doesn't understand what the white colored number means. Probably the younger family member who's listing it. 128K for a slant 6 isn't terrible. I wouldn't consider it a deal breaker.
  9. That ducting is surely for A/C. The way it's aimed, I would hate be in the back seat. Your neck would be a giant icicle. Maybe someone can answer, what are the models that had the three piece rear window? It seems like they show up for all models. I would have thought they would have been for one particular model.

  11. I swapped a 1965 SP400 in to my 1962 Lesabre. It had a Dynaflow as well. I would say overall, it was pretty straightforward. Some things that needed to be sorted out...... -The trans mount had to be modified. I'm not sure if there is some interchange between the different year Rivieras. I ended up cutting a couple of inches out of the middle of my Dynaflow mount and using it for the 400. -You'll need to wire the kickdown and switch pitch to the carb. You can use factory parts for this. -I had to shorten the driveshaft a few inches. I also upgraded to the newer style 400 yoke. The Buicks used the smaller diameter yoke. Not a big deal, but it makes getting bushings and seals much easier. -The cooling line routing is a little different. -Yes the shift quadrant is different. I would skip the 64 transmission and go for the 65-66. I wanted the switch pitch option. Also, the 64 has a different pan and gasket. It's a one year only odd duck. You'll have to deal with the shift quadrant either way. In my case, the shift quadrat was on the dash. I scavenged some parts and made it look pretty good. -You'll also have to sort out the shift linkage. You may get away with a cable setup. Or a later Riviera linkage, not sure. Mostly it was just fiddly stuff that either needed a little creativity or required scavenging some newer (65-66) Buick parts for a retrofit. I've been very happy with my swap.

    I've understood that same. Also use distilled for the radiator.
