  1. Best offer counts sells them on ebay. I bought a set from him recenlty My door spring snapped after 60 years. I think he sells it as a set with hinge bushings.
  2. I would bet that most of those jobs are done by robots now.
  3. Thanks, I didn't realize the pictures were linked to the ad.
  4. I don't see a price or a location. Would you mind sharing that?
  5. That is my concern too. However, from the pictures, they look considerably thicker than stock. That's why I'm asking if someone would be willing to measure them. Nobody who actually owns or sells these seems to want to answer my question about the inner sleeve O.D. I guess my only other recourse is to try to find some kind of Urethanes bushings that will slide in.
  6. What's stopping you from pulling that ring gear and putting it on the flex plate? That would allow you to start it on a run stand.
  7. Would you be willing to measure to O.D. of the inner bushing sleeve? I know the I.D. is 1/2".
  8. Can you blank the plate when you drive through a traffic camera?
  9. My 62 Buick had one speed wipers. 2 speed wipers were an option.
  10. I get exactly what you're saying Turbinator. I'm facing similar issues with some components on my car. I guess what I was talking about was more the guy who thinks he can do better than the designers and engineers. I'll allow that not all design and engineering is good. But for the most part, those people were the "A" players in that world and they knew what they were doing. I just don't think that a lot of the "customizing" that you see is generally better than the original. Most people don't have the training to pull off some of the styling cues that they add to a car. You look at them and it just kind of looks "wrong" for reasons that you maybe can't even explain. The other side of that is you look at these cars as they came from the factory and they just look "right".
  11. I'm considering these for another application. I understand that the bolt size is 1/2". I need the same bushing but with a 5/8" bolt. I'm curious if there's enough "meat" on the inner section to tolerate being bored out to 5/8". Anyone?
  12. Yes, having them flop around defeats the purpose.
  13. I think the big thing is that these companies spend a lot of money hiring people who devote their lives to design and engineering. Then some guy comes a long thinking he can improve on that. I think most of the time it just doesn't turn out that well.
  14. I think that there's a flaw in your logic. Rarity and price don't necessarily go hand in hand. You need a set of buyers with the desire and the means to compete for your car. Rivieras are a hot topic right now. Tastes can change in an instant and nobody will care how original your car is. Markets are fickle and in the toy market, people vote with their hearts, not their heads. Keeping your car stock may increase its rarity, but it doesn't guarantee that its intrinsic value will increase. Probably it will, but it isn't guaranteed.
  15. If you charged going rate for your labor you'd have to charge way than $500K.
  16. If the leak isn't immediately apparent, you can clean the outside of the system and wrap white towels around the hoses, fittings, etc. Anywhere parts don't move obviously. Leaking fluid has a tendency to migrate, especially in windy conditions. This can give a false impression about the origin of a leak. Putting a diaper on there will help to keep the leak localized. Go for a drive and then start checking the diapers.
  17. I think I solved your problem. You're welcome.
  18. I can't remember the last time I saw a 57 Belair during my daily commute to work. Certainly they're readily available, but you don't see them often unless you go out of your way to do it.
  19. I've never found a definitive accessory code list; at least not for 1962. Mine also has I7, I recall that was for the tinted stripe on the windshield.
  20. Great pics. I've been wondering what a white roof might look. It's looks fantastic. I have a set of that stainless window trim in my attic waiting to be installed. Glad you got your car back. I hope you're enjoying it.
  21. Great news!! Post some pictures of the car.
