  1. My 1922 Cadillac was 94 years old when I bought it, and I was 28 My daily driver is a 2013 BMW 125i though which was an ex demo when I bought it
  2. The only thing I’ve found with that stuff is that I’ve got quite spotty coverage on some materials but it’s fine once you go over it with a top coat
  3. Another option you could do is look around for literature from the time and see if anyone manufactured a replacement at the time, you can find period ads for people advertising alternatives to the buick carb
  4. What car? Generally the best carb is going to be the one it was designed for (or at least a direct replacement)
  5. I'm guessing something to do with gas powered lights or something Though, it also seems pretty tacky using the 4th of July for an advertisement like that
  6. Being in Australia it's something that we often have to deal with, I imported my 22 caddy from Missouri so I don't know what y'all problem is
  7. My university was responsible for leading the investigation to the westgate bridge collapse during construction that killed 35 workers, they saved the pieces after the royal commission and placed them around the engineering buildings to remind graduates what the price of failure is.
  8. Sounds similar to all the other spam ones going around, I got one offering a top cover casting for a 22 cad that was generic like that - sure you do buddy .
  9. I'm actually not far off that, asides from the whole 1962 part
  10. I think part of the problem is also the cost of parts, a 20 year old car has reasonably available parts for a decent price. The amount of rusted junk that has been sitting in someones chook shed for 40 years that they still want top dollar for (or sit on fleabay for years)
  11. I had the same today, worked ok on my mobile but not my cable internet (both are Telstra)
  12. From the literature for local cars, it looks like they were treated as a dealer fit so could be anything
  13. Queenslander? Good to see another Australian on here
  14. Interchange book for a 1922 Type 61 Cadillac Type 61 - Parts Manual.pdf
  15. The parts book on GM heritage centre (I think it's mixed up in the 1923 docos) identifies all of the parts that interchange to earlier cars from type 61's
  16. Hey Bill, doesn't sound like there is going to be much left unfortunately. Can you at least do us a favour and encourage the people that picked up the various pieces to join the early Cadillac Yahoo group? or if they're members of the Cadillac Club? There really aren't many of these cars known to be out there, so it would be good to know if there are more out there. Cheers
  17. Given the prices are almost identical, I suspect Egge sources from Olsens for some vehicles - Olsen's are quick and have good service.
  18. Hi Carl thanks for the kind words, yes it was definitely disappointing the issues were not disclosed but I've learned alot and it's nearly ready to start going back together. I've just finished prepping the distributor casing for painting (it had a really flaky paint job on it, that looked terrible as opposed to patina). While there has been a few nasty surprises, it is the only Type 61 5 Passenger Coupe in Australia! I'm aiming to be on the road by September which is when the temperatures start to pick up here in Victoria. I'm definitely interested in the lot (as long as the condition isnt' too bad) and would offer up the stuff I don't need to the rest of the community, I also know there are a few items in there that people may want/need patterns for. If that's not an option, it would be great to try and pick up some of the smaller pieces - some photos' would be great but one of the main things I'm missing is priming cups off my motor and there are a few things that I'd like spares of such as clutch, distributor, carb and some spare push rods. Pictures tell 1000 words so there probably is a bunch of other 'useful' stuff in there that would go well on my car :-)
  19. My car had tyres made in Australia on it when I imported it! They've been out of business for a while... but they actually are in surprisingly good condition. Made a couple of miles from where my brother just moved
  20. I'm going to go with 15 I suspect when I buy tyres for the Cad I'm going to have a similar issue as they're an odd size
  21. I'm curious as to what car it is that you're casting a head for
  22. Another vote for Penrite, they make a good product, I ordered a couple of bottles for when I reassemble the cad and there was a bit of a wait on the gearbox oil.
  23. Insulting younger people getting into the hobby isn't really a great way to grow it.
