  1. CodeBlue, here is a bumper and bumper support listed on ebay for a `34 40 series(should be the same as `35 40 series). Seller states in the bumper ad that he has some left-over parts and to contact him.. 274000407127 bumper re-chromed 274000407100 bumper support(front) Seller states bumper and support fits front or rear(I`m not sure about that).. Also states both items are remanufactured..
  2. Marty, another thing I noticed about your 235.3 is the intake/exhaust manifolds the mounting bolts are staggered, engine trying to ID are in a straight line. JayG, I`m pretty sure you nailed it, with the water tube 4 and 6 inlets and being a 60series, along with the engine number it falls in the `35 year which would make it a 278.1cu.in. 100hp.. Thanks everyone for your input and the education
  3. Marty, do you recall the size of the engine? I also notice the fuel pump and starter are on opposite sides from the engine I`m trying to ID. The engine I`m trying to ID is not mine, it belongs to a friend approx. 300mi from me, reason I`m waiting for a head length to post. I did find a picture of an engine removed from a `35 90 series that looks similar.
  4. I`ll get a measurment and post it. I think `36 Buicks only had a 233 and 320, and I think neither, has the water jacket side cover.
  5. Buick engine #2952326 Possibly 344 cu in?
  6. Another thing is the flywheel could have been put on to the crankshaft wrong, if the 263 is like the 248 there is no alignment pin, so flywheel can be put on in 6 different positions, only one position is right. Pull the valve cover and plugs, bring the #1 piston to TDC compression stroke. Watch the rocker arms, when the intake valve closes, turn the crank 1/2 turn, that will be TDC compression, this is when you set the distributor. Also the flywheel mark should be in the window if it was installed correctly. As Tinindian stated it could be 180 degree out of time, the flywheel mark shows in the window of #1 TDC compression, and TDC exhaust.
  7. Do as Matt said, pull the valve cover check #1 for a broken spring. Some thing is not right for compression being so low. Pull all the plugs, spin the engine and watch rocker arm movement, especially #1 for possible flat cam lobe. Then bring to TDC #1 compression stroke and check distributor rotor position, does it match to correct plug wire to #1, then check firing order in counter-clockwise direction. That`s the first things I would check.
  8. Dang, i`m a year early.. let me correct that..
  9. We`ll need more information on what`s been done and which engine you are referring to. `52 Buicks had more than one size engine, inline 263 or 320? Was the cam and crank timed right on assembly? Give some info about what it does when you try to start, kicking back or backfiring thru the carb? or nothing? Got spark, gas in the carb? Did you or someone else assemble the engine?
  10. Here is a BOP head unit on ebay, not complete, but a start. 123731238907
  11. Possibly Motorola or Zenith, under dash head mount and radio unit mounted on firewall. Here is a picture(found on the net) of a BOP head unit(don`t know the manufacture) that just sold for $275. Says correct for `32-`35 Buick.
  12. Older cars are too complicated for the younger generation. They only want things that are controlled by pushing a button.. They remind me of an old joke about money falling off the trees, "I`ll pick you up tomorrow, I ain`t working my first day"..
  13. Why sue the company that built it? Their foot wasn`t on the throttle, if he sues anyone it should be his buddy driving, or himself for letting his buddy get behind the wheel. What`s with people? It amazes me how things have changed over my life time, and how people want to blame someone else for their own stupidity.
  14. I drove that road many times in my old `47 Chevy hot rod(in the late 60s), can be a dangerous road, speed kills on that one. I think Kevins mistake was letting someone else drive. When I was 19(53yr ago), I let a friend drive my car, he bounced it off a parked car, taught me a lesson. Nobody, but me, drives my cars.
  15. Here`s #5, embossed Dr Pepper Good for Life and the 10-2-4 clock, 6 1/2ozs. On the bottom: BALL 11-6 A-45 3
  16. Here is 4 of 5 bottles I found in a `41 Pontiac coupe, behind the rear interior 1/4 panels. Only way I think they could have got there is thru the trunk over the fender-wells. Delco hydraulic fluid, Coca-Cola bottle, bottling co. Sherman, Tx., Soda Water property of Coca-Cola has a pat. date Nov 27, 1923, and a baby bottle Evenflo 4oz. I`ll also post #5 a Dr. Pepper bottle.
  17. Oh yeah!! You can`t beat Jr Brown and his over under, 6 string on top and steel on bottom, guitar
  18. But officer, I really did see "Bigfoot"..
  19. Not a movie, a TV series I always liked was "Highway Patrol" with Broderick Crawford mid-late 50s. His patrol cars were Oldsmobiles and Buicks and lots of 30s and 40s cars in the background(main reason I watched). "Vanishing Point", was the first movie that I remember that started out at the end (just before the crash) then flashes back to the beginning and everything that happened leading up to that point.
