  1. Hemmings Classic car magazine recently featured the restoration work that went into a 1963 Impala SS convertible that came from the factory with a 6 cyl engine. A lot of praise was given to the owner who chose to keep the car a 6 rather than upgrading it to a v8.
  2. The can says for chassis lubrication so I think it's for the Bijur lube systems installed on luxury autos. Bijur is still making lube systems for industrial applications.
  3. Found this tin can at an antique shop last weekend. Given the low price I paid for it I'm sure the seller did not know it was auto related. It's still full! I have heard of Bijur automobile lube systems but never have seen a can like this in any of my travels. Who knows, maybe the contents are still good! Terry
  4. Be glad to tell you what I know after 40 years of ownership. My current collection is now just two, a 1964 Vespa VNB 125cc scooter and a 1970 Yamaha Enduro 90cc trail bike with just 600 miles on it. My son bought a 1979 Motron moped last fall and has it stored here with mine so the count is three with his. Most of my early days was doing off-road competition on Husqvarna bikes and then later was combo of street and on - off road bikes. They can be a joy to own and ride. Collecting can be cheaper than cars and for sure they take up a whole lot less space! Terry
  5. None that I know of that is as open to all brands. Are you looking for just antique motorcycles? Terry
  6. Sometimes you need the robot to "think" but that option is difficult to implement if there is insufficient data for it to analyize correctly. A human car make these adaptations quickly based on the limited information he may have. Programming takes time and money and usually requires down time to test and implement. Congrats to MB for realizing we still have a brain that functions. Terry
  7. Have you tried Bob's Speedometer Service for help? They are located in Howell MI. Phone 800-592-9673. Web is BobsSpeedometer.com. Terry
  8. I have that kit in my collection, or should I say the car and box. Some of the glue has dried out as it sat around for years in storage but it's all there. They are fine models. I am glad to hear of your good fortune! Terry
  9. Also try ATCA, antique truck club of America. They have a website where you can post questions. Terry
  10. My late father's go to was Marvel mystery oil for rough running engines. He used it like a spring tonic, a little in the carb, some in the crankcase and some in the gas tank. Sometimes it helped. If not, then we dug into the problem deeper. I keep an old can of it in my garage in his memory. Terry
  11. In the 1970s I purchased a new 1973 Chevelle SS with the 350ci eight, auto trans and the cool swivel bucket seats. I was a victim of the poor metal used back then and rusted away way too fast. In 1977 I traded the SS on a new 1977 Chevrolet Nova 2 dr With the Rally option which was stripes, rally wheels, wide tires, and sport suspension. It was a lot better car than the Chevelle. It had a 305 eight and auto trans. That car ran and handled great. The new car bug struck again in 1983 and the Nova was traded for a new 1983 Camaro Z28 equipped with the 5.0 engine and a 5 speed stick this time. After these cars, the ones that followed were dull boring regular drivers. Terry
  12. Nice collection, Terry. I too have several others and they are fun and relatively inexpensive to buy as you mentioned. Antique shops and flea markets are good places to find them. Another good item to collect are old auto related advertising blotters. They too can be purchased without breaking the bank! Terry
  13. Here's an advertising item found at a local estate that should impress "fans" of REO and Franklin marks. It even has the proverbial pretty girl as part of the ad. I would guess this is from the mid 1920's era. Most items like this were used to advertise funeral / furniture stores rather than autos. Enjoy! .
  14. The fact that model railroad doesn't offer much for the beginning hobbyist doesn't do much to help it grow. You don't give $200 engines or $40 boxcars to kids as toys. It's become a specialty market. Kids do like to build Legos and the Lego trains were a nice way to attract kids to the hobby. Terry
  15. At least they were not from China! Mexico can be OK for some things, but China quality is really hit or miss with more emphasis on miss! Terry
  16. There were a lot more 4 barrel carb models on the dealer lots than FI cars when I was shopping for a z28. They were actually hard to find as sales of the z were brisk at the time. There was another buyer waiting to buy the car I wound up getting the day I made the deal. Big selling point was the 5 speed. They were not as common as the auto trans version. Terry
  17. Perhaps more people are bypassing the auction route to buy cars. There are certainly more places to find cars today than just auctions and those sales are not tracked by anyone that I know of. For sure many fine autos have been listed here on this site instead of going to an auction for disposal. The stock market is going though another adjustment phase, maybe the auto auction market is doing the same. Terry
  18. Nice solid touring car at a reasonable price for all the restoration work that went into it. Terry
  19. Wow, you are good! Nice ID on that part.
  20. Brent, Sent you a message about these and other items I have. Terry
  21. Interesting question on the fuel sending unit and the comments on the electric fuel pumps in the tank. I had to replace a failing electrical fuel pump in a 2002 Suzuki motorcycle I owned. I never really thought much about the mechanics of how it operated electrically in the tank or the action of the fuel sender gage that was part of the assembly. Everything was changed out properly and worked fine afterwards. Considering the proximity of the tank with some of my important body parts I guess I should have at least given it a little more thought! I was just just happy my new $600 pump did what it was supposed to do. Terry
  22. I would rather hang out here than be bombarded with the useless advertising that Facebook has on its site. Terry
  23. The license plates that were on President Kennedys limo when he was assassinated in Dallas recenty sold at auction for $100k. Now that's an expensive set of license plates! Terry
  24. Had similar troubles with one of our laptops. Took it back and it worked fine at the store. Tech said to take it home and try doing a restart of our wifi box with the computer on. That fixed it! Might work for your problem too. Note- restart of wifi was simply unplugging power to it, wait about a minute, and reapply power. Terry
