  1. Springs are ok and plate is resurfaced. Sumbuddy !#$ put it together wrong (Plate in backwards for one) and now a finger is bent. also had to do some buildup on the pressure washer that these have on the fingers.
  2. Nash used this exhaust design on the old flatheads too if I remember. I always thought that there was little thought put into this!
  3. I don't think you would have any spark if it wasn't turning. As Pete says. Your problem should be in the cap or rotor. The Carbon brush in the center is a possibility, as is a "crack" (Spark arc line) in the cap to send the spark to the wrong place. A rotor that has an arc through to the shaft could be another idea. Good Luck.
  4. I know Model T discussions can go on forever. It seems to me that the Ford bodied cars had the headlight bar, the bodies made by Wilson didn't. But I'm not an expert.
  5. Can't help with the question but if I lived there I'd be over helping you with it!
  6. 26 or 27 T with wire wheels. likely 27. Wires were optional in 26, standard in 27...I think
  7. The leaks look gnarly. You should pull the head and check it out. You could have a rust out ( bad) or Just the gasket. Definitely standard engine.
  8. I posted this in Stude but no answers coming. Would like info on adjusting the pressure plate fingers and what is Installed height Car is a 33 Dictator. New clutch and recon pressure plate but fingers very uneven.
  9. Does anyone have the specs to set up the pressure plate adjustments on this clutch. notably The installed height of the 3 fingers. Thanks for any insights.
  10. Up here in the frozen north, my McLaughlin had a similar set of winter covers. I still have the rad cover. The hood cover is gone but I remember it being around when I was a kid. It obviously worked as my father never froze the block in the car and it never had anti-freeze
  11. If it's just a felt Olsons gaskets will make any size you like.
  12. Is this the one that drives with the rubber "hose" coupler. If so you would have to get one that would be able to line up with that drive. Looks tricky! I like AKSTRAWS idea
  13. Yes, the 312 cars had a small thunderbird badge on the front fenders.
  14. Yes. The armored cable prevents hot wiring to the coil from the battery. Of course, if you are a real car thief you could just bring another coil.
  15. I'm quite familiar with the 27 setup, perhaps someone can enlighten us on the 30. Not sure if the clutch is the same. is the 30 still multiple disc? The trans has the standard shift pattern on the 30. 27 is the backwards one so I don't know what other changes they made. The engines are very similar. 30 has a fuel pump, 27 was vacuum tank I can't think of any other changes. Anyone working on a 30??
  16. I THINK those will interchange. as far as I know / remember, clutch and flywheel will fit. Transmission is different. You may have to stay with 27 transmission. Check the length between motor mounts but I think it's the same. Also length of transmission.
  17. What size are the heads? 1/2 wrench = 5/16. 7/16 wrench = 1/4 inch... Usually.
  18. No. Chevy is completely different, Nothing fits a Buick not even the standard to the master 6.
  19. Engine is already out. Rear axle can stay.
  20. I doubt it. Yes you can put anything in anything if you have a big enough hammer, but Buicks were built much more substantial than the Chevys and nothing will fit.
  21. Just remove the 4 rearmost bolts. The driveshaft in splined in the universal. It will just slide out. The universal is in the bell part. You will have that off before you are done too.
  22. Is the distributor cam worn? Pull the wire off no 3, preferably with insulated pliers, while it is running and see what there is for spark there when held near a head bolt.
