Guest greg72monte
Mostly partly, with highs in the upper lowers, chances of increasing darkness towards evening, brightness towards morning...........
Shop Rat
One year it is sunscreen and wishing it would cool off for just five minutes. Then next it is eight layers of clothes with the outer layer being a down filled jacket with hood and wishing that you could feel your toes. Then low and behold the next year you have gone hunting for hip-waders and wondering if the mud stains (yes most of the mud is gone but there are still some areas....) will ever come out of your pants legs and tennis shoes. ex98thdrill is correct, bring clothes for all weather conditions. Last year there were nearly gale force winds. Just ask Bookreader, she'll tell you.
novaman
weather almanac says:Oct. 1-7: Sunny, warm Oct. 8-11: Showers, coolGame plan: First day cover orange field to hopefully avoid any mud.
bluetaxi
Whatever the weather, it probably will be warmer than below zero and snow that we will probably be starting into here by then!Greg's forecast seems the most reliable, but novaman's advice is good. novaman
Larry, please turn off your caps lock. All capitals is considered shouting on a discussion forum. What year and model is your Ford? I'll try to make it over there but it seems lately everyone wants to stop and talk to me. At Ashville, I never made it out of the parking lot area I judged in. Saw about 1/3 of the show.
R W Burgess
You're getting real popular David. Maybe you need to run for office or something. Wayne

flaacajunior
you know someone could make alot of money with a physic prediction of rain for the show. When was the last time it didnt rain?
KRK Sr.
flaacajunior, It never rains at Hershey, that is liquid sunshine or HERCO's dust control at work. 2004 was dry. Karl
novaman
My Dad claims that we (AACA) come to Hershey so it will rain and we stir up the next year's supply of Kiss mix. I do miss the unpaved fields. I loved watching people trying to walk in the mud. The best one I saw was a guy that had fallen and was covered in mud on one side. Been long enough that it had dried. While crossing an intersection in front of me slipped, and fell on the other side. Now completely covered.
novaman
Wayne, it's more like I need to run from office or something. Too many irons in the fire. And as for the popular part, what scares the bejeebers out of me is when a national officer walks up to me and says "David, how are you doing" with a big smile. Especially an officer I really don't know. Usally means something like we want you and/or your region to do something.

ex98thdrill
Bring clothes for all weather, comfortable shows (and spares if they get wet), and as much money as you can. Although it isn't actually printed in the rulebook, it is an unwritten rule that no one leaves Hershey without spending money. I'm not talking about food or parking, I'm talking about the swap meet. John_S_in_Penna
I'll give my experiences seriously in case someone reading this is coming from out of the area or for the first time! As someone who lives in the area and who has attended the show for the last 15 years or more, let me assure you (as others did) that southern Pennsylvania's weather in early October can be variable. Unusually nice sunny days might hit the low 70's; but, at the other extreme, a misty overcast day might not get out of the 40's. (That's the Fahrenheit scale for those coming from out of the country.)The typical temperature is more likely to be in the upper half of the range given. Nice days in the 60's aren't uncommon, and the day that hits 70 isn't rare either. On the warmest days a minority of people may wear shorts, but usually a light jacket will suffice. Be prepared with layered clothes or warmer clothes, though: if you're sitting all day beside your car-corral or flea-market space, 45 degrees and drizzle can seem awfully cold! (Barrow, Alaska residents may have a different tolerance!)Weather forecasts here tend not to be reliable if they're more than a few days in advance; so this is my climatic recollection. novaman
forecast for the next 10 days (thru 9/24) shows chance of rain tuesday (19th) & Sunday (24th). Wednesday low of 48°- (pack long johns) otherwise 50's. Highs in the 60's to low 70's.
