Remnant of rodent nest (acorn bits) on top of engine?   More acorns on front floor.   One of the boxiest bodies ever but has a certain charm.  Appears interior was restored incorrectly many years ago.   Front seats look like jump seats out of a 7 passenger sedan but I believe they are original except upholstery.

Is that a transmission lock with the key sticking out of it or is the ignition down on the floor like that?

Yes it is a transmission lock with two keys! Looks like the air freshener needs replacing..

I believe it’s a Super Six Coach.

And that at least the seat frames are original

unless the engine is stuck, with a bit work with the shop vac it looks like it could be a reasonable deal that isn’t that far out of line

This innocuous-looking Hudson two door Coach was one of the seminal models that for the first time gave the car buyers a closed car for parity or lower price than an open touring.  The 7-passenger phaeton was $1,500; the five-passenger Coach was $1,395.  People were sick of riding in the cold and wet, flocked to the Hudson and Essex Coaches in droves!

I knew someone about twenty years ago that had an almost identical car. His was beautifully restored, near show condition (he paid top dollar for it because it was so nice!). It was a great nickel era tour car. I know the upholstery on this one isn't quite right, but what I can see doesn't look too bad (I do wonder what is hiding behind the turned up rear seat cushion?).

I wish I could jump on this one, as long as I didn't find too much serious damage hiding from the photos. But I cannot afford to consider any such thing right now.

Odds are that about a month of clean up and some tinkering on the mechanics would have a marginally usable car. Never know what problems sorting might find. But that is part of the fun. One always has to fix a few things.

I love this car, and reached out to the seller even. He said he wants to get out of dealing with old cars. Judging by the way his Packard was stored, and what I know of the climate in Rhode Island, I wonder if this car suffers from soft body wood in places. Its a long distance to take such a risk for me but it could potentially be a fantastic car for someone and a nice way to get into the hobby. The Hudson/Essex club is some of the most amazing people I have ever encountered of any club, so that is a huge plus for the next owner.

What was his Packard? How was it stored?  Has he sold other cars before?

His Packard is also listed on this page in the same time frame. I am guessing they were stored outside and in a lean to shed. Yes he has sold other hudsons in the past.

There is a long shed/carport in front of the car visible in some of the photos.  I assume that is where it was stored.   I don't recall any Packards being listed in RI recently.

Well, for what it's worth, I have spoken with the owner of the Hudson several times. I expressed that my desire was to purchase it to use for the Red Flag Horseless Carriage Tour of Iowa. After speaking with a friend that is very active in the Hudson Club, I offered $6,000.00. The seller responded that he was "good" and then raised the price to $9,500.00. I asked what he wanted for it, and he told me he would like to trade for a modern truck, 4 wheeler or motorcycle. I wished him best of luck with the sale.

Did you talk to the actual owner or the grandson who posted on FB?  I noticed the price went back up again and was bemused.  He's going the wrong direction.  Seems like whenever someone wants to trade, they are expecting to receive a vehicle more valuable than the one they currently have.

I am not sure. It’s someone young, maybe 30s named Atreiyu. He presented the car to me as if he owned it or inherited it.
