  1. I am also in the Iowa Crossroads region Cadillac/LaSalle Club here in central Iowa. Are you active in the club? I am surprised we have not met at club events. My wife and I are fairly active as the Cadillac club does a lot more long distance touring than the DSM AACA does.
  2. WOW, That looks like a blast. The proportions are really handsome, love the length of the hood!
  3. This must be where the expression "Less is more" comes from. I just prefer symmetry and wood grain (1939 Packard comes to mind) but again to each their own. 😇
  4. I am not sure. It’s someone young, maybe 30s named Atreiyu. He presented the car to me as if he owned it or inherited it.
  5. Well, for what it's worth, I have spoken with the owner of the Hudson several times. I expressed that my desire was to purchase it to use for the Red Flag Horseless Carriage Tour of Iowa. After speaking with a friend that is very active in the Hudson Club, I offered $6,000.00. The seller responded that he was "good" and then raised the price to $9,500.00. I asked what he wanted for it, and he told me he would like to trade for a modern truck, 4 wheeler or motorcycle. I wished him best of luck with the sale.
  6. That is fantastic! I did not know that. This Hudson suddenly got a whole lot more interesting!
  7. His Packard is also listed on this page in the same time frame. I am guessing they were stored outside and in a lean to shed. Yes he has sold other hudsons in the past.
  8. I love this car, and reached out to the seller even. He said he wants to get out of dealing with old cars. Judging by the way his Packard was stored, and what I know of the climate in Rhode Island, I wonder if this car suffers from soft body wood in places. Its a long distance to take such a risk for me but it could potentially be a fantastic car for someone and a nice way to get into the hobby. The Hudson/Essex club is some of the most amazing people I have ever encountered of any club, so that is a huge plus for the next owner.
  9. This gentleman must be a collector of Hudson's, he has sold other Hudson models in years prior. I remember seeing the same house and backdrop in the pictures here on the forum.
  10. I did not either, I was just thinking that most Chrysler products were light years ahead of the competition and was venturing a guess this would be too. Mechanically it seems 30 is the year for all the big changes.
  11. Does a car such as this bring that kind of money? I think the seller is optimistic with the price. I went to check it and see it has since been deleted. If it was sold I guess I stand corrected. In a perfect world this is pry a 40mph car?
  12. This brings up a really interesting point. Some people do not enjoy the hobby by driving their cars. Some people gain satisfaction by having a car that is a static display and take pride in transporting it in covered trailer to and from shows where it competes and people ooooooh and aaaaah over it. I am not one of those people. I want to drive my machines. I do not own anything as rare but have gotten the privilege to ride in some incredibly rare cars. That being said, we have trouble even in our own local AACA chapter. There are those that want to drive their cars on day long excursions (Which are not a lot of us) and those that want to drive their car no more than 20 minutes usually to dinner and then back home. Some people would just rather have a museum piece and display it in their garage.
  13. I love the Torpedo shape of these. This could be a very handsome car. The color reminds me of a color offered in 49 Gala Green?
  14. Wow, this is a shame, this could be a good start to a speedster but honestly it is right on the verge of just being a parts car.
  15. Gosh what a fantastic old Buick. We had a 1928 Buick and it was one heck of a capable car. This is remarkable, if I had the space I would be all over this!
  16. Oh wow! I just bought one of these from this forum, but this makes me think two would be better 😁
  17. A beautiful big touring car, but what scares me away from projects like this is the body wood. Judging by the picture of the driver compartment floor, the wood in the cowl looks... soft at best.
  18. The piece of chrome behind the passenger side tire, along the bottom of the fender, is the strip I need. It is 19" long and has a half round profile. Thank you everyone for trying to help. I really appreciate it.
  19. Thank you for the tip. I’ve been striking out so far. They are symmetrical.
  20. Hello, I am searching for the piece of trim that goes at the bottom of the passenger side fender on the front of my 1949 Packard Super 8. This is the last piece I need to make my car 100% complete. I will attach a picture of the trim from the driver side to show the style and location. Thanks!
  21. Hupmobiles are some of the nicest looking cars in my opinion. The color scheme on this one is not particularly flattering but they do have very nice lines and the way the grill is raked back is reminiscent of the period. Is there body wood in these cars by chance? What is club support like? The front of the car looks good IMHO, but the rear of the car looks chopped off and unfinished. It is very abrupt.
  22. I apologize if this is listed in the wrong area. I am the Antiques class chair for the Des Moines Iowa Concourse d Elegance. I wanted to capitalize on the power the internet to reach out and invite members of the AACA to apply for this years show. My class specialty is 1900-1927 and although the closest I have been to owning a horseless carriage is a model T, I love the evolution that occurs in the early years of motoring. We have traditionally had steam or electric power cars also show in the antiques class and it shows an automotive landscape that is not that much different than today with alternative fuel sources. I would love to get to know members and their cars as well as share information about the Concourse. I am shooting for 10 cars for this year and have 1 tentative and 1 confirmed yes. This is my first year as a class chair for the show, I also am a shop teacher and take a group of high-school students for student judging. I want to build a great show and would appreciate any help in finding or locating cars worthy of showing. I will attach a flyer below. One thing that I have heard numerous times is how hospitable the DSM Concourse is and how exhibitors truly feel appreciated. I want to continue that tradition so Please feel free to pass along this information and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
