1935Packard
I spent two hours out near a park by me this afternoon and noticed a few folks in old cars out for a Sunday drive. Managed to catch photos of a few of them. (Unfortunately I missed a really nice Porsche 356 cabriolet that drove by.) Here's what I was able to catch. Sorry, Ed, nothing pre-war. And sorry that the pictures aren't better, I had to pull out my cell phone and try to get them before they drove around the corner..... There's going to be a local show at this same place tomorrow, maybe I'll add to the thread then. First, a Triumph. What is that, a TR6? This E-type is in spectacular condition, but it was going the other way so I only managed to get the back in the photo. 56 Chevy, sort of hotrodded, unfortunately: Chrysler convertible. Not sure the year. 1966-ish, maybe? Edited September 6, 2021 by 1935Packard Better photo (see edit history)
keiser31
Yes. 1966 Chrysler 300 convertible. Love that Jag from ANY angle. I drew this when I was a kid. It was my favorite car.
1935Packard
Agreed re the XKE. I've seen that blue one up close, as the owner lives near me, and it's a Series 1 with the 4.2L -- a magnificent car.
JFranklin
Ok now you guys opened a wound. My neighbor Norm Fogelstrom passed away a few years back and I was offered his Jaguar and 50s Tbird. I wasn't interested as I had enough cars. I didn't even lift the covers. Well the widow took mid $30sK for both. Later I found out what I had passed up. It is good I don't much care for foreign cars! But this one only had 11000 original miles. https://www.throttlestop.com/vehicles/246/1969-jaguar-e-type-roadster
Steve_Mack_CT
E types are great looking cars. But the little TR 6 is cool as well. Rubber bumper treatment tells me it's a later model, maybe 75 or 76. They didn't mess with the clean design too badly and they fared much better than MG did with the need to meet US regs on a shoestring.
Walt G
My great friend Joe Star had a E- Type couple/fastback in white from new as his everyday car. He also had a Phantom II AJS series R-R town car and a Phantom III town car, the PII in perfect mechanical condition as he was a machinist and liked to work on things mechanical and the PIII was his project. I liked the R-R as I could fit in them in reasonable comfort ( even with the dropping division window) but the E Type was to low to the ground for me . Joe was considerably shorter then I am . I think the styling of the E Type is amazing, but it just doesn't fit a guy with long legs.

Larry Schramm
I took my '13 out to a friends house today. I put probably another 25 miles on. That makes almost 1,100 miles for the year. BUT....while I was out I must have seen at least 20 summer cars out for drives. It was BEAUTIFUL today here in the Detroit area. Low 70's with low humidity and lots of sunshine. I then came home and took the '15 truck out for a short drive. Getting both ready for the Old Car Festival this weekend at Greenfield Village. If you get there look me up. I am sure I will be the only person with a 1915 Buick Truck.
1935Packard
The local show was today, and it was fantastic -- it drew around 80 or 90 cars. Some highlights, broken into a few posts. First, my favorite, a 1946 Alfa Romeo that was at Pebble this year. Magnificent. Next up, same owner, this Lancia is stunning: I love '54 Corvettes, although I know they're slow and only have automatics. Just from a design standpoint, though, the cars pop:
1935Packard
Another Lancia. What's that, a B22 or something? I don't know my Lancias, but what a pretty car both back and front. I brought my '35 Packard, which was the only pre-war car that was not a Ford.

1935Packard
I absolutely loved this Mercury, which looked to be an unrestored original driver. Awesome. Really nice Ford, too. I really like the Volvo 1800 cars, although I like the earlier ones more than the later ones.

Good looking, and solid and reliable too -- just finished 500 mile road trip in mine (to Monterey Car Week and back).

1935Packard
Nice Volvo 1800. I prefer the earlier ones, but still like them all. These Thunderbirds are really attractive, I think. Just a really cool looking car.

1935Packard
Finally, there were lots of super and new-ish sports cars. I don't follow these, but I gather some of them are pretty high-dollar cars. (One not pictured was a new Ford GT40, which I gather is around $500k.) Steve_Mack_CT
Thanks for sharing! At first 80 or 90 cars seems light, but if they are interesting that is all the difference. Missed Lime Rock concours this year as Sunday was an off day, but went antiquing in NE CT and found a ton of smalls, a nice way to salvage the day! Walt G
No Joe never finished the PIII. Barker coach work ( I think ) town car. Minty car with the rear interior cloth needing some slight improvement. Joe got all the parts ( many nos) needed to replace what ever he though needed to be replaced. Did most if not all of the machine work ( except perhaps for the main bearings) got on in years to try to put back a lot of it ( laying on his back no lift in his garage) so sold it off. If ever I could /should have owned a PIII that was the car!
Walt G
Some great cars at that car show , thanks for sharing them with us and taking the time to do so. I agree with A.J. the Packard was the best hands down. I can appreciate the post war European sports cars/boy racers but just like larger cars , mostly pre war but I am starting to enjoy the styling of the postwar cars as well. Yes I am a Luddite. To many years, to many miles riding in cars with running boards, etc. Going out to the garage now and pat my Buick Roadmaster and Packard touring on their hood. Good lads they are.....................

It was amusing listening to the Lambo crowd as they gathered around my car and tried to make sense of it. To them, it was like a horseless carriage. To each their own, I guess. 1
Grimy
Orrin, I missed the Piedmont car show yesterday although I was less than a mile away clearing out a hoarder house. We have to get you in on the Piedmont July 4 parade next year (none in 2020 or 2021 due to COVID concerns) and the post-parade HCCA BBQ.

If you have to have one, Tom Laferriere has the twin to that bullet bird on his site. $29k, not red, black or white. Definately cool!
TAKerry
I was on a couple hour run through York co. yesterday chasing stuff for my wife. Sorry no pics but I saw quite a few old cars out and about. Most were hot rods. A late 30's coupe, a couple of tri five chevys, a mid 60's ranchero and the craziest one, a mid 70's eldorado with a rumble seat in place of the trunk! Also on my way to work today saw a Chevette on the side of the road with a 4 sale sign.
