Nick Dawson
Not sure if boats are allowed, I’ll take down if so. I’m restoring a pair of C.C. Capris for clients. One is a utility and one is a decked runabout. The owner of the utility (which I restored a couple of years ago) wants it as the aft decked configuration, ok.

Tom Boehm
I'm interested. I am restoring a woodie station wagon. While I doubt I will ever get an antique wood boat I enjoy reading about them because of my interest in woodworking. If anything is more maintenance intensive than a woodie car it has to be a wood boat.

Nick Dawson
Ok, posting up. Some progress pics of the aft deck build on the utility. Fortunate to have the Capri version in the shop to go off of. the motor is a 289.

chistech
I spy a 57’ chevy there!😄 Guys complain about wood framing on cars, they’re like a walk in the park compared to boats. This difference with our cars is you have two different mediums to work with, wood and steel and many are only good with one or neither so it becomes very intimidating. Great job and love those CC inboard boats. I made a few Dumas RC models of the CC line from the runabout to the cabin cruiser. Keep them coming. one question: the skins on the rear deck, made out of fiberglass I assume?
alsancle
That is a nice boat. Good luck with the restoration and I admire your energy level. We just shipped this off to charity after it was in the family for 57 years. It is a 20 foot Holiday with the 430 Lincoln.

Yes the inner fin is fibreglass the outer is wood, painted.

Luv2Wrench
No fair using a plumb line down the middle... ya gotta do that by eye. Beautiful boat and even better craftsmanship, thanks for sharing!
Jim Mead
Takes me back to Sodus Point in the early 80’s and our 1941 Chris utility. Hercules Flathead 6 Model K. Thing is, I’m a terrible carpenter but a fair hammer mechanic and blacksmith (5th generation). But I replaced or refastened more than one piece of finished mahogany in that boat. It seemed to go come apart or go together more like a machine than a house….. Jim Mead Owego, NY
