nat
These are perhaps the prettiest post war U.S made cars. Nothing like a front fender that goes all the way to the rear wheel. Whadaya suppose those doors weigh?

The styling feature you are describing is called "Air Foil Styling" This appears on some Buick models from 1942-1948 and unlike "Flow Through Styling" 1948-1954, which all GM divisions shared at one time or another 48-54. "AIR Foil Styling" is Buick only and not shared. Notice it goes through the high line of the front fender and exits at the tail end of the fender skirt. Skirts are essential for the proper representation of the design. Edited November 18, 2023 by Pfeil (see edit history)

Jaguar must have taken notice or been thinking along the same lines, so to speak.

Might have been, but the last year Buick used its Air Foil styling (1948) was the first year for the XK120 and XK140 started in 1954.
Steve_Mack_CT
End of our ride today. Foliage, well it's all down now except for a big oak in the front, but here are some pumpkins we have not put in the woods yet. Got out today for about an hour or so despite some heavy clouds and spitting it was still nice and the SL didn't show any sign of trouble despite sitting most of this year.

Steve, I'm sure you'll want to facilitate her hibernation when the salt is put down, but do you have the hardtop for it? sometimes the snow and ice holds off for a bit and an SL with the hardtop could be enjoyed in some pretty cold weather.... Steve_Mack_CT
Exactly John, I love the look with the hardtop on and try not to dead store my cars if at all possible. Clear roads are the only issue but planning a trip to the CT shore next weekend weather permitting.
pfloro
There are no automobiles in this 9 nine minute video but I hope that you find the autumn imagery a relaxing break from our hobby... This 16mm film was my college senior honors project made in the autumn of 1976. I just completed an extensive restoration... Enjoy...! SuperJonas
About the end of the Fall foliage here in Pennsylvania...had the Airstream out likely for the last time this year. Temperatures in the mid-50s and a cloudless sky...low sun on the horizon showing the 88-year-old paint in a fine light! Just rebuilt the distributor this Summer and got the vacuum advance functioning once again...runs beautifully and I can pull even moderately long, steep hills without issue in 3rd gear!
John348
I took a few photo's just before everything came down from a big storm two weeks ago. I never remembered seeing leaves changing this late and still falling in the first week of December, weird!
