plk
Can anybody point me in the right direction?Condition or completeness do not matter.Willing to consider ANY original Duesenberg body.
trimacar
Have you asked the question on the ACD Club forum, separate from this forum? One would think, with the closed cars that were rebodied to open cars, that there'd be a body sitting in someone's warehouse! I'd also contact the people who track all the Duesenbergs, serial numbers and body switching, they're fairly well known in the ACD Club. Good luck with your search. plk
Hi DavidThank You for that sound advice. I have indeed been talking to the people in the know and so far have come up empty. I have part of the wood for a Murphy conv coupe and have been unable to find the balance of the wood either used or reproduction. As a last resort I could use a sedan body but want to exhaust all leads before going down that road.Keeping my fingers crossed.Pete

trimacar
but I still wonder about those closed car bodies, there have been quite a few D's rebodied to open....did they end up on other chassis?

Bob Scafani
It seems that you have a chassis that no one knows about.
auburnseeker
There has been an original Duesenberg sedan body in Hemmings for sale for some time. I think it's in the 40K range. Probably left over from a rebody.
plk
OK I am not smart enough to add a pic so I give up!!!I am using a reproduction Chassis with just about everything else original.I have heard of a body for sale but my understanding is that it is long wheel base. I have never seen a pic of it.

plk
AJ, not YET but I live in hopes.I did get a set of original J fenders, all be it Rolston scoop fenders. Not to mention the NOS Murphy shift knob at Hershey this past fall: parts are still out there. alsancle
They are still out there but you are the only guy that finds them! Are you leaving the scoops on the fenders?
plk
I really hate to modify them back to conventional J Duesenberg fenders but they are not cute; not 1 of Rolstons better ideas. No rush
K8096
Correct me if I'm wrong, but were there not 4 cars originally bodied by Rollston with the scoop fenders? One was a conv couple, one a conv victoria, and I don't remember the other two.
plk
I do not know how many cars had Rollston scoop fenders but I am led to believe mine came from a conv coupe.
alsancle
Tough call Pete. Maybe after you bolt them on they might not look that bad and you can leave them alone. A tougher call would be if you owned one of the original cars with those fenders!
vintagerodshop
I can't believe Pete is running down my fenders I will also have fronts available in a couple months. Once I have my new fronts finished. They are a later skirted style. You can also expect the same great pricing.Kirk

John_S_in_Penna
Since there are evidently many "after-the-fact" openDuesenbergs--converted from closed cars--it wouldbe nice to see something like a victoria coupe or club sedan.I've seen open Duesies at Hershey, but never closed bodies.Of all the surviving Model J's, how many are open versus closed? It's another case of the "flashy" cars being restored and cherised, while the other body styles, for the time being not in vogue, are forgotten. Pete, I know your car will look great when it's done!
