Have you asked the question on the ACD Club forum, separate from this forum? One would think, with the closed cars that were rebodied to open cars, that there'd be a body sitting in someone's warehouse! I'd also contact the people who track all the Duesenbergs, serial numbers and body switching, they're fairly well known in the ACD Club. Good luck with your search.

Hi David

Thank You for that sound advice. I have indeed been talking to the people in the know and so far have come up empty. I have part of the wood for a Murphy conv coupe and have been unable to find the balance of the wood either used or reproduction. As a last resort I could use a sedan body but want to exhaust all leads before going down that road.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Pete

Randy Emma has original drawings for Duesenbergs/ their parts; does restoration work on them

Go to Auburn Cord Duesenberg club site he is a regular there

Several Restorers can make bodies

Steve Babinski a restorer owns a Lincoln Murphy Phaeton

Platinum Classic Motor Cars has photos of 2 or 3 Murphy bodies they have fabricated, see their web site.

Another is Fran Roxas has done similar work.

Good Luck Ron

Thank you David for the reminder!

JUST POSTED THIS ON THE ACD CLUB FORUMS

WANTED MURPHY CONVERTIBLE COUPE

ORIGINAL BODY IN ANY CONDITION OR WOOD PATTERNS TO COMPLETE THE ORIGINAL WOOD I HAVE.

WOULD ALSO CONSIDER ANOTHER BODY IF ORIGINAL DUESENBERG.

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE HELPED ME IN THE PAST.

OK I am not smart enough to add a pic so I give up!!!

I am using a reproduction Chassis with just about everything else original.

I have heard of a body for sale but my understanding is that it is long wheel base. I have never seen a pic of it.

I can post the photo(s) here for you if you like. Send them to me at keiser31@charter.net

Since there are evidently many "after-the-fact" open

Duesenbergs--converted from closed cars--it would

be nice to see something like a victoria coupe or club sedan.

I've seen open Duesies at Hershey, but never closed bodies.

Of all the surviving Model J's, how many are open versus closed?

It's another case of the "flashy" cars being restored and cherised,

while the other body styles, for the time being not in vogue, are forgotten.

Pete, I know your car will look great when it's done!
