  1. I am going to guess that it is from a car in the twenties that had four wheel mechanical brakes.
  2. Antique Wood Spoked Dodge Brothers Tire Rims - eBay (item 180431092353 end time Nov-20-09 14:06:05 PST) Here is the ebay link. I can not tell what size the wheels are because he did not list the diameter. You could ask him. These wheels are for the front and have the proper hubs on them for the front. I wish you luck. If you want to see closed auctions there have been several sets of tires and rims on recently. My search string is "dodge Brothers" Happy hunting.
  3. Dwight: I have a complete series 40 touring, canadian that I can part out. Are there any differences between the engine. I will sell you the entire car for $500 or part it out. Have a nice day
  4. Go to Meyers or Romar and buy a reproduction service manual which contains serial numbers. What Dave did not say is that you can get Wood Spoke wheels, steel disc wheels or wire wheels for your car. If you are trying to make it original you would have wood wheels and there is a set on Ebay with hubs. Lots of luck. Jan
  5. You seem to have the basics for restoration. Top bows are available from several vendors. You really need to join the Dodge club because all the parts you need are available from club members. Lots of luck.
  6. Chris: I don't think you are being anal about it but I also do not think it will be a problem. I have five cars in my garage and none of them have what you would consider the traditional motor mounts. All bolt directly to the frame. The earliest is my 1916 Model T but I also have a 1923 Moon (Continental engine) 1924 Star (Continental engine) 1923 Dodge and 1922 Dodge. I just worked on a 1908 Maxwell without any springing in the engine. Your exhaust pipe fits into the exhaust manifold in a slip fashion which does give you some flexibility. If you had flexible hangers you will allow the exhaust to swing up and down which will cause you a problem. I guess I am not sure why you feel that an original muffler will impact your driving ability. Have a nice day
  7. I have used towing strap material on several snubbers. Also look at belting material.
  8. They were used on my cars in the 1920's and were real popular in Europe. If you would be interested in sell I would be interested
  9. Did you search on how to upload photos?
  10. Excellent job. I have been changing clincher tires for over fifty years and would have never thought of doing it this way. Who says you can not teach an old dog new tricks.
  11. When I was fifteen I found a Grant in a junk yard and it had a nice brass radiator on it. I pulled it and all the parts out expecting to build a hot rod. A buyer for Bill Harrah heard about it and flew in to pay me a visit. I gave twenty five dollars for the Grant and he paid me $500. They kept in touch with me and when I went to college they offered me a summer job in their research department. I worked my forty hours and then they let me work with the mechanics. I had more fun then you should be allowed to have. I met Bill on several occassions and he was always nice to me. Not many have this opportunity and I have been grateful for it. Have nice day.
  12. There are several other items you should look at. There are two springs that should be replaced and check the flapper at the bottom of the inner tank. Also check the vac. line from the intake manifold to make sure you do not have a leak. Have a great day
  13. I would check the coil (as mentioned) or the condensor. Both can fail due to heat and age.
  14. Found it while searching under "dodge Brothers". I would not park it my driveway.
  15. What a piece of c****. Probably was nice befor this idiot got a hold of it. Dodge : BROTHERS RATROD:eBay Motors (item 270471100836 end time Oct-23-09 08:12:45 PDT)
  16. I think you are doing an excellent job sealing the floor boards. Putting a rubber coat on will not preserve it and may even peel off if you have painted it with pollyurathean. The purpose of the strips is to seal the floor boards from alllowing dust and fumes in. It does not protect the floor boards but does eliminate some squeaks. You are doing an excellent job.
  17. There are two types of plugs. One is a moon shaped plug that you insert and there is the one that has sides on it and the bottem is flush. I am not sure which is correct but I have had freeze out plugs that would not take one style take the other. The moon style fits in the hole and then you hit it with a ball peen hammer which expands the plug in the hole. Just one old mans experience.
  18. Joe: They originally had a ruberized strip between the wood and frame that reduced squeaks. Have a nice day.
  19. You are already playing with an old car but fortunately for you the parts are readily avaliable for your car both body parts and running gear. Try restoring a Moon and looking for parts. What you are proposing will turn into a nightmare. If you put a larger engine in you will have to change out the entire drive train including brakes, radiators, and wheels. Trust me I have built rods out of junk and unless you know what you are doing it is a large and expensive undertaking. Stick with stock and you will have more fun and you will be able to get your money and time back.
  20. Gordon: I do not know why the information is not out there but many parts fit other years. The Dodge club has done several articles on these models and you can get the back issues on a CD. The 1924 is different from the 1923 but similar to the 1925. Tell your friend that I wish him luck and keep the questions coming. There are people on this forum that are more knowledgeable of Dodge issues then I am. I am a generalist because I have worked on old cars for over 45 years. I am also the technical editor for the Durant club and a lot of information is interchangeable. Compare the hood, the slope of the cowl and the rear fender over the grease fitting and you will see what I mean. Have a great day
  21. You need to contact Joe in the prior link in this forum. He miss quoted his body style and has a sedan not a touring. Contact Meyer or Romar as they have a reproduction manual. Nice looking sedan.
