  3. From my research from the internet... and there is a lot of discussion on the same topic....... My 30 Chrysler is/was sanded to the bare metal. The whole car. I wiped it down with a small rag, wet with Ospho. It has sat in an unheated, uncooled garage in North Carolina, for about 8 months now, with NO sign of rust appearing. The many sites/forums on the subject say ... do not use metal etching epoxy primer over Ospho. Even sanded Ospho. Ospho IS the etching agent. So you don't need metal etching primer. It will react with Ospho. DA or sand the Ospho again, when dry or after a day or so, with 80 grit, wipe it clean with paint manufacturers recommended cleaner and degreaser and spray with 2 part epoxy. 2 part epoxy is BAD, B A D, stuff so have a professional spray it for you or buy an air supplied respirator. The 2 part epoxy is supposed to prevent rust from reappearing because when it dries it is as hard as wood pecker lips. You'll have to sand again with 80 grit before the high build primer,.... then block sand. This is the cumulative understanding I have gotten by many, many nights of research and the expert advice from a really great guy named Marty Lum. If I am wrong please correct me. I, and no body else wants to go through a repaint. Like I said..... there is a lot of discussion on the subject. You just have to sort it out and ask the experts. Even they have different methods. I'm NOT an expert but there is no excuse for not asking questions and not being informed. Then the discussion on which is the best epoxy primer............ Bill Harmatuk
  4. I've got a jack just like it, that I've had for about 45 years. It is a great thing to have around the house for construction or anything were a jack is needed. I made my own handle out of flat bar. would love to know what car it originally came with. Bill H

  8. I saw a 67 at a car show one time that someone had really done a great job on restoring / detailing the original 230. Every thing under the hood was stock and as new. It got a lot of attention. Your right. Most of the 230 motors were pulled out and 327-350s were installed. Bill H

  12. I was getting ready to pump up the tires on the car trailer. What a beautiful automobile. I would have been money ahead to sell the Chrysler and buy the Dodge. Wish a CJ-6 had that color scheme. Absolutely beautiful Dodge and a great price. Bill H
  13. Someone found me on Facebook and asked if I ever owned this car. He needed help with the title. It had been through 5 owners and was rescued from the crusher / salvage yard. The Biscayne came from Alaska, (was a military staff car), spent time in Washington state, and made it to New Bern, N.C. I bought it with a blown 6 cylinder in 1992. My favorite tail light. Bill H

  15. I think it had something to do with my Dad throwing the old wash machine out in the back yard for me to take apart and beat to pieces. It might have had something to do with being around a LOT of rotating machinery at a VERY young age. My Dad ran a veneer mill and that was where I spent my summers. I also rode in a Norfolk Southern engine at a young age. Down the street was another veneer mill that was run by a huge steam engine. Then there was Elmer Waters that collected parts and bits and pieces all over Eastern North Carolina and built a GORGEOUS 30 Model A with my help when I was 12. I'm 55 now. I think of Mr. Waters from time to time. Bill H
  16. I wouldn't use the miter saw. Too fast. It may grab the rubber and take your finger and or hand for a ride through the carbide teeth. Too many RPMs and too aggressive of a blade. Use a vertical or horizontal band saw. Just be CAREFUL. Bill H
  17. Checked on 2 Buicks, Friday and Saturday, that were in the woods. Both are completely gone. Disappeared. Scrap metal prices got them. What upset me was, that one of them had a complete nailhead motor and transmission in it. Bill H

  19. Am I dreaming or what.?? Seems to me that I can remember an advertisement in a Car Craft or some other car magazine were someone was making a wheel with wooden spokes and chrome rim. It was about the same time they started making wire spoked mag wheels. About 1977. I think the magazine had an article on the Clenet' in it. The Clenet' looked like a Cord but was made from a MGB body with huge hood and fenders. I remember it had 3 windshield wipers. A guy down the street had one when I was a kid. Gonna have to dig in my tupperware tubs in the garage. Hmmm. Bill H
  20. Leave it alone. Clean her up. Get her mechanically sound and enjoy!! Thats why my '30 CJ Sedan is still "unrestored" after owning it for 35 years. I always wanted a 100 point car and that ain't going to happen. But i'll be close. I'm just now putting her back together after "restoring" an original car that had a lousy repaint. It's a lot easier to take it apart than to put it back together. ( I may even put the original interior back in mine and throw a blanket over the ratty front seat). Clean her up. Put some make up and lipstick on her and ride her around and let people marvel at her natural, unadulterated beauty, in the aging process. If you think about it.....Automobiles are like women. Some of them are just too pretty. If you park your car next to a 100 point car of the same model I'll fall in love with yours. My 2 cents. Bill H
  21. Good luck buddy. Get your money right. I bid on one last year that had been on a 32 Ford and was mint. It went on E-Bay for well over 400.00. Another one sold last week for 306.00 and had chipped wings but was NOS. It was in mint condition except for the chips. Back in 1978 I bought an exact duplicate of original, chrome plated bronze, for 95.00 dollars from Sherwood Callanberg in, North Hollywood, California. I thought that was a lot of money back then. Wish I had of bought 10. Keep watching Ebay and one will turn up. Wish some of these casting companies would start making them. I am sure there is a demand. My next challenge is door handles, inside and out, and window cranks. Would also love to have a perfect radiator shell. I have your e-mail address. If I see anything I'll shoot you an e-mail.
