  2. What a shame. I need a few things but I'm not going to get in the fight. I could be there in 10 hours but....... Bill H
  3. Keep your eye on the Chrysler winged radiator cap, (with chipped wing tips). They go for crazy prices. I guess because the wings get broken so easy. Bill H
  4. Old mechanic's trick. Heat up the area around the spark plug really hot. Take a candle made from real bees wax and soak the threaded area with wax that is melted from the heat of the metal. Do this several times and just gob melted wax all around the plugs in order to get the wax to leach into the threads. Heat melt/gob wax, cool. Do it again. Get your easy out or wrench ready and heat again. They should break loose. What your trying to do is expand and contract the metal so the bees wax will make its way into the threads. Several heat cool cycles may be necessary. Used to work at the paper mill on some really huge nuts, bolts and studs. We had cakes of pure bees wax just for this kind of thing. First time I saw it done I thought it was a miracle. Good luck. Bill H
  5. Umbrella holder. The umbrella is semi open in holder. Easy access from the curb when vehicle is parked. When the "gentleman driver opens the doors for passengers. The outside door lock is on the passenger side because the vehicle passenger side is, or should be, next to the curb/sidewalk, away from traffic and bad streets/roads. My guess. Bill H
  6. A steal. !! I've even got a 4 dog dish hubcaps for a 58,59. Wish I was closer. Bill
  7. Have used concrete blocks, (We called them, cinder blocks) most of my younger years for jack stands. Always use them as if they were being used in a wall....As a brick mason would lay them in a building, the long way with the holes facing UP. This is how concrete blocks were designed to be used for building and supporting weight. (Ever seen the Karate guys break them with their bare hands. They break them with the sides facing up.) ALWAYS use a 2x8, as long as the block, on top of the block to support the weight. ALWAYS support weight in the middle of the block over the webbing with the 2x8 between the load and the stone block. The webbing is the partition, inside the block, in the middle. NEVER use them outside on the dirt/grass for jack stands, unless you double them by staggering them on top of each other. My 2 Cents. An old friends wife came home from work one afternoon to find her husband missing. Thats right. They/she found him under his truck, in the yard. The concrete blocks had shifted in the soft soil, the truck fell, and crushed his chest. Harbor Freight sells GREAT jack stands at great prices. We're not even talking, yet, about the potential damage to your car or your garage when the car falls using concrete blocks. Bill Harmatuk Been there. Done that.
  8. Check out the '30 CJ coupe on E-Bay. Lots of pictures. Not perfect but a great example for sale. Item # 160489946474 Would love to have the carburetor in the box in the trunk. Bill H

  10. The computer says, average economy, 15.7 mpg. It has the standard engine, the 5.3 liter. Not too impressive but we seem to live with it being the size of the car. I drive a Toyota Yaris, 2dr hatchback every day and get 35, 36, every tank except when I run the AC. (around town) Bill H
  11. I had the same exact manual and tried to sell it for 50.00 about a year ago on the For Sale section. Some guy replied that you can buy them brand new for 40.00. I said. "Now I know" I sold it to a guy in California for 20.00 and I payed shipping. Sorry Bill H
  12. When we sold, (traded) our 93 Suburban, it had 212,000 miles on it and was still a strong runner and a great looking family car. Replaced the starter, alternator, and a rear end wheel bearing. All work and maintenance done by me. The day after the trade we had second thoughts about trading it and when I went back to the dealership to buy it back it was gone. Oh well. It would have made a great beat around and tow vehicle. We now have an "07 Tahoe LTX, that is my wife's car and other than being a big wide vehicle we love it. Great vehicle on trips. 77,000 miles and not a problem. Bill H

  14. Don't have one for sale but this/these are pictures of what I have. Wish I could help. Don't ask me how this thing goes together. Haven't gotten that far with my restoration. Bill H
  15. Hey Marty You can stalk me all you want. When I get up to my eye lids with the ole Chrysler, I'm going to aggravate the......#*(( out of you. I still need to pick your brain about 2 part epoxy primer. I think I'm going to spray her a section at a time to make sure the metal is right, when the primer lays down. Its 97% ready and in ospho, right now. Going to sand it again, and inspect with a microscope before I spray. I'm NOT in a hurry. Going back to black paint. Drip rails. The little tabs are, I'm sure, holding the clue to taking the rails apart. Before I go bending 70 year old tabs, twice, I thought I would ask to see if anyone has done this before. It appears that once the tabs are unfolded the center section either slides out, length wise, or it is some kind of snap fit. The nails ARE behind the center section. I'll do surgery the next time my wife is out of town and I have plenty of time and no distractions. Thanks for the in put and I'll take pictures. (Just got back from a 2 day Nikon School.) Thanks again. Bill H
  16. OK you Chrysler, Dodge, Desoto experts. How do you remove the original drip rail from a 30 Chrysler CJ sedan with out completely screwing it up?? I do know it has hidden body nails behind it, that go through the body and into the wooden header. The nail are spaced a foot apart and are hidden by part of the drip rail /rail gutter. I've had a putty knife behind the rain gutter and it has loosened up some but refuses to move very much. It now has about a 1/16 gap started. Any help would be appreciated. There is minor rust behind the drip rail and I would feel much better if I could remove it and clean and sand. I see some cars that have either removed the drip rail or it has been replaced with non original. Thanks Bill Harmatuk
  17. Bhigdog Your reply speaks volumes about yourself. Bill Harmatuk New Bern, N.C.
  18. Kansas Ever been to North Carolina?? 35 miles to the Atlantic. I'd just like you to LOOK at my 30 Chrysler CJ 6. It's 3:15 in the morning, the wife is out of town and I've been working on the CJ. Man, I wish I were rich, (to get you here) and your age again. Wish they had that Craft out there when I was in school. Good luck. Bill H
  19. Not having a whole lot of luck with EBay so I'm going to have to humble myself and post here. Wanted to buy. I need a Carter RT-08, 159SR or a Carter BB-1, 153S, 159S, updraft, with 2 3/8 center to center bolt spacing. Would prefer a working carburetor or a nice rebuildable core for a 1930 CJ-6 Chrysler. 196 cubic inch motor. Send a private E-Mail or E-mail. Thanks
  20. Thats a great surviver. Need to get her inside. I'm working on its brother, a 1930 Chrysler CJ-6. Almost identical. What's the price?? Do you have any extra parts you want to sell?? Like a carburetor?? Bill H
  21. I had a '65 model, 283 that did the same thing. Ran fine, very slight miss, till you accelerated hard. Then it popped back thru the carburetor. Check to see if all your rocker arms are moving up and down correctly or the right amount. You'll have to pull the valve cover and start it up with the valve cover off. Always a mess, but you will be able to observe the action of the valves You may have a lobe worn down or off your cam. Just my 2cts. Bill Harmatuk
  22. PLEEEEESE... Show me a picture. Your gonna make me sell my boat.!! Bill Harmatuk
  23. My Dad and I used to fossil hunt at an old limestone quarry in Eastern N.C. Next to the road going on/into the property was every pickup truck and various cars that once belonged to the mining operation. I was probably 13 years old, Maybe 1968. The cars and trucks were backed into the woods, lining the road, side by side like a car lot. These cars were in great shape and like most cars and trucks back then,... when they quit, they would park it and get another. There were probably 15 of them wrapped up in briers, weeds and saplings next to the driveway. If I remember correctly they were anywhere from 1936 to 1948 Ford cars and Dodge trucks. All had the upright grills, lights on top of the fenders, etc. Company name on doors. We were going to ask the owner about them and you know how that goes. Next time we visited the quarry...... the owner had taken a bulldozer and rolled every one of them up into a big pile. I still have the before and after memory with me today. Bill Harmatuk
  24. Back in 1970ish, I bought a running 50 Ford 2 dr for my 51 Ford 2 dr. When I finished pulling the motor and transmishion I took a 950 wheel loader from the veneer plant next door and took the 50 Ford body to a vacant lot next door and lifted the car as far up as I could get it and dropped it. Then proceeded to play monster truck. Huge wheel loader against automobile. A real sickening story. About the same time, 1970ish, a friend of mine that lived down the street was given, from his older brother, a.. 1963 Galaxie 500XL CONVERTIBLE, 390, 4 SPEED, red with red and white interior, white convertible top, bucket seats.... the whole deal. Running car. Beautiful. But it smoked and it was getting ragged. Well just for fun my buddy and another friend took the car to the woods to see how many trees they could hit and proceeded to destroy the car. They left it wedged between two big pine trees. There was a junk yard in Fort Barnwell NC that had a 40 Ford coup in the back. My Dad said he took his hand and wiped the dust off of the hood and there was the prettiest blue paint under the dust and dirt. This was a running car. I was going to buy it instead of my Model A. We went back about a week later to buy the car for 400.00 and the owner of the junkyard said he was sorry. Sorry what?? He said he walked by the car the other day and a bunch of wasps flew out from under the car and ate him up.... He went and got a can of gasoline and set the car on fire. Just old cars. Bill H
  25. I'll give you 1500 for it if it does'nt have termites too bad. I think its a steal. Especially a 2dr hardtop. Wish I could find a deal like that also. Bill Harmatuk
