  1. I don't mind email, but phone calls sometimes irritate me , as they are always made at the convenience of the caller.
  2. Thanks to all who have contributed ! I have posted a link on the ACD website to this thread.
  3. Wasn't all of the automotive bright work nickle until about 1927 ?
  4. I don't believe there is a Auburn part on the whole car.
  5. Another ghastly and pretentious replica, run away, NOW! I think that is a bit harsh. If Radion likes the car and the price is right , Why not ?
  6. The bolt pattern is 5 1/2 Diameter is 12". 2 inches wide. The drums are cast iron, not known to fit any other car but 34-36 Auburn 8 cylinder.
  7. The drums I am specifically concerned with are 1934 - 1936 Auburns. They must appear authentic . No disk brake conversions. There must be other cars of the era that have this issue.
  8. I dismantled an 1933 American Austin engine that hadn't been run since the early 50's. The amount of wax and sludge build up in the crankcase was so dramatic that only the throws of the rods and crank had a place for oil .
  9. What to do when brake drums have become dangerously thin from turning too many times. I have spoke to Rob at Brake and Equipment Warehouse in Minneapolis. At this time they do not have a viable solution to this problem. What say you?

  15. I have never seen it worse than the yellow field that one year in the 90's when it rained for forty and and forty nights.
  16. That is a great picture John ! The pix above that Graham Man posted looks to be an Auburn head as well.

  18. That is a nice cap, I don't believe it is a jippo from Western Auto or the like. Is there a maker on the underside ? Maybe Stant.............
  19. Wouldn't a Locomobile of that era have nickel plating?
  20. I run Shell Rotilla -T 15-40 in my Auburns and the Dodge Cummins. I had a 98 Dodge 225 K miles that the oil on the dipstick was still clean after 4,000 miles. The I bought it new 2014 Cummins 20K miles is black after 500 miles. This confuses me.
  21. I had a six cylinder 1934 Auburn engine ( Lycoming ) that actually leaked oil thru the porosity of the cast iron.
  22. Try French Lake AP 3531 County Road 3 NW, Annandale, MN 320-286-2560
  23. Too many cars too little storage. Some do not come out unless others are moved. My hobby is building them as accurately as possible, restoring every part to the best of my (and others) ability. Putting on a couple of hundred miles to sort it out , then on to the next one. Everybody's hobby is different.
