  1. I went to the AACA National Meet in Ocala FL and judged.. Great show!
  2. 61polara

    engine paint colour

That looks about right based on what is left on my original engine.
  3. 61polara

    engine paint colour

A blue grey is correct based on my 1921 Maxwell.
  4. My first car was a 1961 Dodge Polara 2HT that my Dad bought new when I was 8 years old. Passed from him to my Mom in '65 and to me in '69. Mom's replacement was a '68 Charger (318). I still have the Polara, but need to have a transmission band replaced so I can get it on the road. I've only personally seen 2 other '61 Polara 2 HTs since it was new. Rare, but not valuable!
  5. In 1974, I was driving my 1970 Challenger Convertible to visit a college friend for the weekend. I took back roads to enjoy the drive. In a small town in NC, I pulled over to check the map for my next turns. As I'm intently looking at the map, an older man came up to the car and asked if I knew the way to Glory. I said no, but I have a map and will help you find it. He said "No, have you been saved"................
  6. It should be one deduction as a non-authentic part taken for all the tint.
  7. Meet and Judges Registration is now open online for the Charlotte Spring Meet. Here are a few photos from the show last year. Dave Bowman Chief Judge AACA Southeastern Spring Meet Photos by Tom Gibson
  8. Price if you put it back original?
  9. I looked at your survey but can't answer, because you haven't specified the wheel. The answers will be different based on its material and style.
  10. Contact Hill Jenkins at Jenkins Interiors in North Wilkesboro, NC. I think his father, Louis used to have a source for new ones. Don't have the phone number, but google it.
  11. I've looked at this car. It's two blocks away from where I work. There's a reason the pictures were taken at night. Fenders, doors and all lower body seams are rusted out. Original interior with the cloth in shreds. Don't know how it runs. It is unmolested but will need a lot of work $2500 for it might not be to bad, but expect to spend a lot. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll check it out for you.
  12. The window tint should be a one point deduction. You are allowed 6 deductions to receive HPOF certification. Only 2 points to receive the HPOF Original certification.
  13. The earliest sealed beam head lights did not have the three adjustment tabs on the face. They started sometime in the 1950s. Your car and all Chrysler products of the 1940's would have used what is known as a "bulls eye" headlight with no adjustment tabs. Post a photo of you other headlight. The one posted is incorrect.
  14. I agree, the ground shipping will be about half of the total cost. You will need to go though a shipping broker. Call one at a port near you.
  15. Check this out from the factory. http://oldcarbrochures.com/static/NA/AMC/1962_AMC/1962_Rambler_Brochure/1962 Rambler-14-15ab.html
  16. I think this is factory. With AMC offering reclining seats it makes since. Who wants the driver going to sleep down the road!
  17. Can you post a photo of what you are looking for? I'm only aware of one Maxwell touring model, but could be wrong. There was a Sports Roadster. Is that what you are looking for?
  18. Jon, Your last photo is a correct standard 1942 steering wheel. I think this wheel was incorrectly painted in restoration. And yes, the vertical emblem is correct for 1942. The wheel posted by c49cr above is the correct optional steering wheel with the cigarette case. Note the vertical emblem also.
  19. Note that the 1942 steering wheel pictured above has a 1946-1948 horn button on it. The 1942 horn button has a vertical logo. The wide center steering wheel pictured above is the one that can have the cigarette dispenser mounted on it. That wheel was also available in 1942.
  20. Steve Moskowitz has just announced that the AACA Library Bookmobile will be unveiled at Charlotte AutoFair this spring. Family members of the Rock Hill Body Company which built the bookmobile body and the donors will be present. The Rock Hill Body Company resulted from the Anderson Motor Company that built the Anderson car from 1916-1925. Dave Bowman Chief Judge AACA Southeastern Spring Meet
  21. I am too! As co-donor of the bookmobile, I'm looking forward to seeing the final product. BTW, Steve has done a great job keeping us posted on the progress and delays and I've seen it during the restoration phases.
  22. Last year the show was moved in front of the Speedway. It was a great location and much needed move. Great backdrops for photos. Come and join us! Dave Bowman Chief Judge AACA Southeastern Spring Meet
  23. I had to replace my plug in a '60 Invicta. A standard freeze plug was all it needed. It must be staked in place.
  24. The '42 steering wheel is the same as '46-'48. Only the horn button is different. What body style do you have. I have a '42 Custom Conv. Please post pictures of your car.
