  1. There is a picture -with rivets and sealant- for 51 Chevy on chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com As best as I can tell, it is in a 49 - 53 Shop Manual.
  2. The Great Smoky Mountains Region operates out of the Hendersonville - Mills River area. Steve Nordt is listed as their president. They list antiquecarclubwnc@gmail.com as their contact. They support the local community college, etc. There are several members in that region who could steer you in the right direction.
  3. In planning the 2016 Sentimental Tour, I found plenty of help from national and others who had done it before. Once we knew what we needed, I asked members from our region, Hornets Nest, and they stepped up to the task. The Visitors Bureau in our host city was extremely helpful and offered significant incentives. Venue managers and local government officials were very helpful. In every step of the way we had a great time doing it! There is still time, but some chapter or region needs to step up and start the planning. ? Phillip Cole 2016 Sentimental Tour Host
  4. Well, it strikes me that their use of the words, "transportation related", were misguided. Vintage campers are certainly related to Transportation. But they use two words in their online information, "automobile" and "vehicle", which leads me to suppose you threw them a curve and they tried to take a bat to you. ? BTW, love those vintage campers... And boats, as well.
  5. And some private collectors do not want the general public to know where their collections are.
  6. TG, In about a week are you going to give us your view? I can't wait! ?
  7. X2 on the WIX filters. We toured their NC factory this Spring. Their quality control was outstanding.
  8. Does the oil level stay high? Assuming you have the correct dipstick, why don't you ask your mechanic how many quarts he puts in for an oil change. If you are using the "house" brand he may be pumping in more than is needed.
  9. The pyrethrin in a bug bomb will kill moths, but it is considered non toxic to humans. However, it will make your lungs burn and take your breath away. So be careful. The two possible active ingredients in moth balls are toxic to humans, especially children. They actually attack your red blood cells. In either case, be careful with use. Air the car out thoroughly.
  10. If you have ever manually assigned HPOF and DPC spaces at a smaller show, which I have, you might understand. It is very time consuming. And then, you have to reorient your parking teams. If the Hershey folks decided to do it, I think it would be great. But let's recognize how much work it is for a group of volunteers.
  11. Everyone on the Sentimental Tour this year enjoyed touring the NC Transportation Museum and our closing banquet in the roundhouse! So, yes, go, if you get anywhere close to Spencer, NC! Thanks for the car picks, including our 40 Buick, of which we managed to not take any pictures today. Randy Stone did an outstanding job as chief judge with humor and grace.
  12. Lots of adults are saying the same thing! ??
  13. Too few cars, too little advertising, too far from most buyers, but some great looking cars. Judging by the last two auctions I've seen, there are a lot of cars not making reserve.
  14. According to the Museum website: a gentleman from Hendersonville, NC.
  15. I've spent the last two days at Autofair (Wednesday was setup), and the worst thing I've seen was a fellow who forgot where he parked his truck. (We did find it for him!) I'll be back tomorrow and Saturday. Come see us...
  16. Look in the Owner's Manual for the page (usually all by itself) stating it meets US Department of Transportation regulations.
  17. Thank you for your service!?
  18. Owners manual, options brochure, sales brochure, assembly manual...
  19. And remember to bring factory documentation with you when you show it...
  20. Your statement, "What goes through the mind of a judge?", answers your criteria question. If there is no predetermined criteria for judging, the results are whatever the "judge" favors. If results are not important, one just goes and enjoys. If results are important, one learns the "rules" and prepares. Then, hopefully, enjoys...
  21. Check with the local tax office to see who actually pays the tax bill. It could be a legal representative, if not family.
  22. Take a look at the Lincoln Highway Association's website. It has a map and state to state information.
  23. With the HP classes there is still plenty to learn for even experienced judges. And team captains sometimes ask questions like that so their team can learn.
  24. October 2 is "Name Your Car Day". So there is still time. ?... ?...
