  1. Thanks for offering them. I'm putting the 89 back in HPOF at Charlotte. When will you arrive?
  2. Nice cars! I'll stop by. I'll be at the AACA Meet Tent each day. The start/finish line is prime property! You should do well. When will you arrive?
  3. James, the sign up forms should go out to HNR members soon. See you there!
  4. Now that we are judging/evaluating cars from the late 80s and early 90s, how is HPOF evaluating cars where the factory gave an extended warranty for prematurely fading and peeling paint? I know GM offered this for dealers to respond to the numerous customer complaints in 1993. In other words are warranty replacements, re-paints full or partial, and/or restorations performed by dealers acceptable?
  5. Okay, Matt and Roger (and anyone else with that sticker), In my defense my team does not handle the Cruise-in, but I did track this issue down this morning. When you registered for the meet there was a line you could check for Cruise-in parking at no cost. (Free parking right at the Speedway entrance and beside the show field , what a bargain!) The cruise-in team assumed that the persons who checked that box would know what it was for. The owners and judges mailings for the Meet, which my team did send last week, did have maps. The Meet map works for the Cruise-in, as well. And you would have received Autofair tickets for the Meet. As Matt observed, the flyer (and my post above) gives you the info. you need. Sorry for the confusion... The Cruise-in sticker is basically a parking sticker for those who requested it. If you have a problem when you get there, tell the Cruise-in team to ask me what's going on! While I'm at it the dark yellow (?) judges stickers are also for parking. That parking is right next to the AACA tent at the show field. On Saturday, another team (we got teams...) will be directing judges parking. Also, the white stickers for AACA Officials is for parking all week next to the Meet tent. Mel and the HNR Board work hard to improve your experience at Autofair, the Meet, the Cruise-in, etc. At the same time we're trying to keep thousands of vendors, 150,000 attendees, and the Speedway happy.
  6. Thanks, Matt. I'll check with the HNR office and see what happened.
  7. The Cruise-in is Thursday and Friday near the AACA Tent at the front of the Speedway (called the Fanfair area by the Speedway next to Speedway front entrance sign). Autofair opens at 8 a.m. The Cruise-in team will be there to show you where to park. Roger, by "card" do you mean a window sticker? Did you get tickets to Autofair and a Cruise-in letter, as well?
  8. The Southeastern National Spring Meet at the Charlotte Motor Speedway will be April 7th. The deadline to show and/or judge has been extended to March 21st. Remember free Charlotte Autofair (April 5-8) tickets will be provided for registered owners/judges
  9. Hey Wayne, Let's fire up the Way Back Machine and find one of those 400 point $15000 cars mentioned in one of the early posts!
  10. The two major components of AACA judging are Authenticity and Condition. Sounds like your MS. tag is fine if, like Matthew advised, it has no condition issues.
  11. Is there a trick to get the back side to line up correctly to the front? What adhesive do you use to attach to windshield?
  12. Look at the seven hotels in the meet brochure. (Meets at AACA.org) They are all within 2 miles of the Speedway and varying price levels.
  13. I agree. Brings tires in "balance" with the rest of the form.
  14. Look at the Reading Terminal Market website before you decide to stay inside the whole time.... ?
  15. Looks to me like the hay, the chassis and the motor are already restored. All you would need is some paint and a cow.
  16. "Mud and Snow". not sure, but... I'll leave the deduction questions to the HPOF judges; but yes, 68 C10s could come equipped with optional equipment "On-Off Road Nylon" tires, "Rear Only". Option #s: R43 on 5.50 rim width, R64 on 5.00 rim width, R81on 5.25 rim width and RQ2 on 6.00 rim width; 7.00-15, 6.50-16, 7.00-17.5, and 8.00-16.5, respectively. What you need is factory documentation. Do a Google search for "1968 Chevrolet Trucks, Series C10" from the GM Heritage Center Archives. Actually, just "1968 Chevrolet Truck PDF" should do it.
  17. You need the Factory Assembly Manual (AIM) for your year, make and (possibly) model.
  18. Take a look at these Hornets Nest Region and Charlotte Autofair websites. Our office doesn't switch over some of the web info to the April event until after the first of the year. But you can still get an idea. Working on the brochure for National right now. http://www.hnr-aaca.org/ http://www.hnr-aaca.org/Charlotte-AutoFair.html http://www.charlotte-autofair.com/
  19. If you go to AACA.org and click on Publications, you will see a tab that says Judges Guidelines. Click on that tab and download the 2017 Guidelines currently. Steve M may tell us differently, but I doubt if you can get a 2018 before Philly in Feb. Let me also recommend that you attend a Judging School. Even if you never judge, it helps to know how the judging process works when restoring and showing.
  20. Renwaltoys, Since this has been your only post and you have not revisited it since Oct. 20, I'm assuming you have moved on. But if you happen to come back on the forum, would you please post a picture of the front bumper area of your 65 Corvette. Also, mainly to satisfy my curiosity, how did you find out you had received this deduction? Thanks in advance. Phillip
  21. Joe, Great story! Having seen your beautiful car run perfectly on tour when others were falling by the wayside, I hope you weren't too put off! I was on the other side of the clip board (actually, iPad)at Pinehurst this year. Three days before the event I was invited to be a guest judge (since a European judge could not make it) and told three possible classes I might judge. I spent most of those three days preparing. Naturally, I wound up being assigned to another class. Fortunately, the AACA Guidelines got me through it... That and having judged a similar class the year before at Hershey. Anyway, you have a beautiful car! Be proud!
  22. Go to aaca.org. Under Publications, click on Judges Guidelines to download it. Look at pages 3-10 and 3-11, HPOF Certification and Original HPOF Certification forms, and decide for yourself.
  23. I thought the remembrances of Herb Oakes was a nice and proper addition.
  24. Very interesting! Thanks for sharing
