  1. Just saw it. Cool.... Been by the old Packard plant many time as I live in the Detroit area.
  2. Interesting article for the Avanti crowd. Designer Raymond Loewy's personal Avanti II heads to auction - Images
  3. Would you post some pictures for those of us that are not familiar with what you have. Thanks
  4. I live in a zip code that I think that happens so I do the repairs myself (except roofing because I do not bounce as well at my age) because of the price.
  5. I try to bring out the old truck as much as I can. If I am at a show I will let the young kids sit up in the truck...with supervision. It is such a joy to see the smiles on their faces.
  6. As Joe Padavano says, there are a number of items that can cause this type of mileage drop off. For a few of the culprits, it might be the engine coolant sensor, dirty air filter, mass air flow sensor or something in the air stream, leaky injector(s), bad spark plug(s), bad spark plug wire, intermittent bad coil, bad fuel pressure regulator on the rail, ambient air temp sensor, and the list goes on. Depending on the severity of the problem, the check engine light might not come on.
  7. Might try saddle soap or neatsfoot oil
  8. One of my college room mates had a Jag and lest we never forget .....The Prince of Darkness
  9. I agree with Steve and John. The state minimums are not enough. Johns number is probably the minimum, but I agree with the other comments to buy as much as you can afford and then some with an umbrella policy.
  10. Here is what a quick google search turned up. https://www.google.com/search?q=garford+truck&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&oe=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=GM2AT5iIA9Cx0QGk5oX5Bw&biw=1440&bih=672&sei=G82AT_HjC4yI0QGI1PT7Bw
  11. I agree that nothing beats you looking at the car you are thinking about buying. That said, I am fortunate that I have a few friends around the country that are highly qualified and I trust to look at a vehicle for me.
  12. Go here and click on JOIN Buick Club of America - BCA - Welcome
  13. I have had experience with both new tires that have failed and older tires. A few years ago I had a high end tire made from that French company fail after only nine months old while driving down the expressway towing a trailer. Tires can fail at any age. I can say that the tire pressure was correct because I had checked it only a couple of days earlier. Other that the occasional tire failure because of stuff happens, IMO, the most important item to tire safety is having the correct tire pressure. Trailer tires are another issue but correct tire pressure is the number one most important item.
  14. My first thought would be a bearing.
  15. Besides my trucks, my current wish list would be a maui blue Reatta convertible with gray interior, 87 Grand National or GNX, and finally an 84 Skylark T Type with the high output v6 with manual transmission, sunroof and all options.
  16. The difference is probably the pressure that they turn on and off.
  17. My guess is a 1918 E-45 Buick because of the fenders.
  18. Guide was a division of GM and did the lighting for the car divisions. I do not know when it was acquired, but probably when Billy Durant was running the show and buying up everything in sight to support the auto manufacturing / assembly operations. Guide I believe sold parts under different names to be able to sell in the aftermarket. Not the same as AC Sparkplug where that division used its name on their products. The other division that was like that was the Dayton Electric Laboratories Company. That is what is otherwise known as DELCO. They supplied as a division of GM a lot of the electrical parts to GM assembly operations and also sold in the aftermarket.
  19. 1910 & 1911 trucks were basically the same.
