  1. I always set them a bit loose for a cold start and re-set them hot after making all other adjustments.. I suggest you split the difference hot/cold for a first start-up situation.
  2. Dave, Excellent photos and descriptions... Great Job! Do you happen to have spare pot metal levers that operate via the hand throttle linkage rod? Mine were broken and I would like to cast some aluminum replacements.
  3. You will eventually need an electric fuel pump to save your battery while cranking to prime the mechanical pump for starting. The electric will also serve to overcome vapor lock on hot days or when driving at higher altitude. Just wire it to run from a separate switch on the ignition circuit for safety.
  4. This is the very first thing to check. If your heat riser liner is perferated, the fight with your Marvel carb will be futile.

  10. This forum in buy/sell section or eBay would be a good start. You can also have new gears made or install an overdrive unit.
  11. Not true. If you keep a minimum of 50# in your tires you will not shear the stems. However, longer metal stems are typically needed for wheels with wood fellows.
  12. Swap the ring and pinion for taller gears and you will be OK at 55 mph.
  13. I don't know of any judging manual that specifies what type is or isn't acceptable.

  15. I have a couple of rim spreaders and you know where I live. I think I have one to sell too! Also, I use aluminum rattle can paint that is easy to touch-up.
  16. Joe, It appears you may not have the convex spring washers needed to allow the manifold to expand and contract. Without those special washers, your manifold will crack again. Example: Belleville Disc Spring Washer 2.000 x 1.010 x .065 Steel ZC | G.L. Huyett
  17. I have this spare available. Note the broken mounting ears are where it mounts to the heat riser. (2nd photo) Most have blanked off that opening because pre-heating the air fuel mixture is not needed for modern fuels.
  18. My 24 Cut-down Pickup is for sale. It wouldn't take much to make it a depot hack.
