  1. I have a right and left pair of metal running boards - just the steel core, no rubber covering - that supposedly came from a Buick dealer attic. One has a legible part number, 669674. Does anyone have a parts book from this era, who could look it up for me, please? I am guessing mid-1930's. Thanks.
  2. Cover your steering column with heavy towels...
  3. Mudbone, you can find exact duplicates of the ballast resister in the try-5 Chevy catalogues.
  4. A pair of 54 posters. Framing makes all the difference, especially with frayed ends...
  5. Can you tell us about the dolly tools underneath, are they part of your "tool box" for this? I've never seen something like that for working stainless. Thanks!
  6. My experience driving '54s is to go through your center link. It has several small springs that can break apart inside. Also, replace your idler arm. Mine go out on my 54 every 10 or 15 thousand miles. It will never have a tight feel at the steering wheel. The car is more herded down the road like sheep, with a little nudge this way or that, then a modern car that you can precisely point and go. But to me that's part of the fun...
  7. Yes, manual adjustment. Tighten them up to where you can hardly turn the wheel, then adjust back to where you get only a slight resistance. Do this every few thousand miles.
  8. I'm not sure on Cadillac nomenclature, so will let you decipher if this is correct for your model. Not NOS but a very nice vacuum advance, number 1116020 and it does hold vacuum. Caddy Daddy offers on for $197. How's $90 shipped in the US?
  9. The slit in the bag is just big enough to remove the instructions sheet.
  10. Greetings all! A pile of parts that came into my hands includes a complete harness for the '54 Skylark - and I would assume Century and Special convertibles - from YnZ. Their products are excellent quality and this one goes for 2800. Does not include antenna or battery cables. Never removed from the YnZ bag, and shipped in the US for 800, please. Happy wrenching, and thanks.
  11. I have an original mesh unit that goes inside the filter housing, if you want to PM me.
  12. If you would like original compressor mounts, I think I have an extra set. PM me. Also good used 54 and later exhaust manifolds and gen mounts.
  13. The hood seems to be in the line of a 55, as does the rear bumper. But the interior trim is for sure a 54 Roadmaster.
  14. Maybe to hold straps for a running board accessory?
  15. Too big for a Ford. The fancy headlights and size of the coachwork suggest something pretty snazzy.
  16. The 54 Century had a 3.4 if it is a Dynaflow car. A manual trans would be a little shorter-legged, 3.9. Are you sure it will interchange back to 1940? I vaguely remember it only going back to 41 or 42. You should be able to confirm by searching these forums. If you can confirm that it will, then the easiest will be to keep all your original rear end and only swap out the pumpkin. Take it to a good shop for a look-over and adjustment if needed before installing. Beware the pin that holds the drive shaft onto the pinion is a lot of work to get out... Get a good punch and a big hammer! And support it with a sturdy jack stand right under the work area.
  17. Nic to see you back, Brad. Folks, this is a great product!
  18. Try tapping it up or down enough to get to a smooth surface where the seal will turn. Then file down any burrs on the edge to protect the seal from any damage.
  19. If you can get me a picture of a correct one - they seem to change every year or so - I may have one to use.
  20. It looks correct for a 54 at least to me...
  21. Put power to the middle tab on the switch, and ground to the ground wire on the wiring harness.
