  1. FYI, water pumps on the Buick 4-cyl cars are all the same from 1922-24.
  2. Absolutely not. Buick 1954 Century or Special only. If you want to fart with trim holes, etc, you can spread the years to 55 Buick.
  3. I have used wrist pins if you need to go that way.
  4. Super or Roadmaster will not fit. Since you had a sedan, maybe try a 4dr sedan? Beyond that, anything can be modified...
  5. I was a grad student in Rome 15 years ago, and found a very cool looking - and still functional - Fiat brand fridge from the 1960s. So go figure. Seems like all the big corps were hoping for some cross pollination in terms of designing, making and selling. And aiming toward cheap and effective auto AC. I have a stock Frgidaire AC system in my 54 Buick. They say the compressor came off the Frigidaire parts shelf, the same unit for meat lockers in butcher shops and rail cars. It was put in before one could be made specificly for auto use. Damn heavy, but it still holds pressure and pumps. A 585 dollar option in 1954.
  6. The power steering pump pully looks like a 53. One indicator...
  7. You will want to clean up those adjuster on the bottom of the brake mechanisms. They get turned to adjust manually as the brakes wear, and that procedure every few thousand miles really helps.
  8. I'm going to look at a 54 Roadmaster in the area that supposedly has factory AC. I don't need much myself, but don't mind looking for others. I'm hoping to go out and look it over on Tuesday evening, so let me know quickly if you have any needs. I can pull for you and ship if it aint the heavy and long stuff. Maybe the other things I can haul with me up to the Buick show next summer. Send me a private message with your name and number, and I will let you know what I find... Doug Cook
  9. There is an NOS one for sale on EBay, but expensive,,,
  10. Nice doors including hardware Center body section - hardware and sheet metal to form the back of the front seat. Radiator mud pan Top Irons Carbs Exhaust manifolds Trans parts Fans Steering columns Send me a private message with a phone number and I'll give you pictures. Parts are located in SoCal.
  11. I just not a fan of tank coatings, especially for CA and all the extra chemicals that go into gas. Leave it alone, find the biggest filter you can, buy multiples to change it out regularly, and run it for now... If the issue is still nagging you, start looking for options to replace it while you can still enjoy your new hobby. A new accel pump should be easy to do on the car without a complete rebuild.
  12. There may be an original fuel filter at the back of the carb where the fuel line attaches. Take that out and clean it as well.
  13. Put a floor jack under the oil pan with a piece of wood to distribute the weight on the pan. Lift gently and them start unbolting the mounts, top and bottom. For the bottom fasteners, I believe there are holes in the bottom of the cross member to get a long socket and extension onto the nut. Lift the engine enough to get the old mounts out of the way. Install the new ones onto the frame first, then use a punch or screwdriver to help you line up your holes on the top.
  14. Beware the distributor cap on the 4cyl Buicks. I saw one for sale at a recent swap meet for over 500! Very hard to find.
  15. The idler arm brace is attached to the frame. Unbolt it there and let it swing down to give you clearance.
  16. Used on the rear edges of the cowl vent screens.
  17. Brian look in the Bugle. A guy in Arizona advertises there and has parts for Skylarks, and may be able help you
  18. Thanks, Pete, never saw that site!
  19. I found a very nice NOS regulator at a swap meet that I can't ID with my Buick books - 1118214. Can anyone identify an application, please?
  20. Keep an eye on eBay, I remember one there years ago, and you might get lucky there. Swapmeets too.
  21. Thanks, Pete, those look a little too rough for re-plating. Those darn pits will get you every time!
  22. This may be tough. There were three different power seat mechanisms - 1-way, 2-way and 3. The same units were used between Super or Roadmaster and should bolt between your seat and floor. Trick will be to find a complete one and take it out of the car yourself...
