  1. "Time waits for no one" I was also a bit suprised that a 1970 El Camino could bring $250,000 while a 1958 Impala convertible brought $84,000. Even the 50's car's are starting to taper off in price, unless they have been "Resto-modded" past the point of sanity.
  2. In Nova Scotia back in the 50's, 60's, and 70's a 5 yr old Ford that was driven all year in all conditions would have far more rust than that showing and likely needed at least the driver's front floor pan replaced. Not just Ford's but pretty much all makes. We had a large number of British and European immigrants who bought Euro cars. They fared even worse.
  3. Chrysler Corp. did not have anywhere near the production capability of GM. Plymouth couldn't build enough cars to meet demand. The sped up assembly lines resulted in very poor quality built cars that came back to bite Chrysler hard.
  4. Having owned several Jaguars I've been cured of the British luxury car influenza. The 1988 Sovereign with the RR type hydraulic suspension was the worst. I was the 2nd owner, took it back to the local Jag dealer at the time and he was very honest. Showed me records and told me the story of my car from the day it was shipped to him new. As soon as I got it home, took pic's and put it up for sale. It was about 4-5 years old.
  5. Just make sure it's solid metal behind the undercoating!
  6. Good choice! These are plentiful and a very nice driving car. Biggest problem is the chassis for rust. These were a "monocoque"' style welded 2 layer design. Make sure you see it underneath before putting out any cash. I love these cars for the style and late 50's luxury. To me they always showed the world how America rolled, and could build a reliable, distinct car. Instead of a fragile European beauty that spent most of it's time parked, leaking fluids, and waiting for parts!
  7. Probably yes. They are more efficient using modern gasoline for higher compression ratio's. Without knowing all your personal preferences maybe a 60's era car with a somewhat modern engine may best be suited for your 1st old car?
  8. These had the GTO/ LeMans dash, rest of interior was very much Chevelle like. Rare then, rarer now
  9. Nice car. My buddy had a 65 GTO coupe 389 4 speed back in High school in the 70's. As they were not widely sold in Canada it was a rare USA import. Convertibles were unheard unless we went across the border. We got the Beaumont SD instead.
  10. Back in 1976 I was in a local yard in Oxford County Ontario looking for tail light lens for my 1961 Meteor when I noticed a tall spoiler. It was a Dodge Charger Daytona, turbine bronze with white tail stripe. Hit very hard at the left front, even the dashboard metal was bent. In London Ontario around the same time there was a 1967 Mustang Shelby GT 500 at Chant's wrecking yard hit in the front. At Corey's in London about 11 years ago a decent, solid 71 Porsche 911 coupe that was dragged out of a barn caught my eye. It needed rust repair, but not too bad. I asked about it, they were taking bids so I offered mine, never heard back and it was gone 2 days later.
  11. One of my newest rides, a 1980 Chrysler Town & Country woody wagon always gets the most attention. From "hey Clark Griswald" to just smiles and " Family Truckster" is the best ice breaker of any car I've got.
  12. I had a 1973 TR6. Was fun to drive but did suffer from rust. The day after it came out of the paint/body shop I traded it for a 1969 Mercury Cyclone 428 CJ. I had to give money difference, but was well worth it!
  13. Nice! Mine has been converted to carb by a dealer recall back in the 80's. Long before my ownership. The 318 runs very good so I'm leaving it alone!
  14. I prefer Ford trucks due to the load capacity, interior and ride quality. I may be wrong on this, but I don't care. Currently I have a 2003 F150 Harley-D supercharged 2WD. But it's a sissy truck compared to my old F350 diesel. Getting my brother's 2016 Ram Limited Eco-Diesel for towing the boat and long distance hauling. It get's fantastic mileage and has air ride so it comes close to a Ford.
  15. Another 1982 Imperial 40th anniv. FS edition
  16. How about the original Eleanor from the original "Gone in 60 Seconds"? It was a yellow 1972 Mach 1 that received a good thrashing and trashing, but should be worth 1 million dollars!
  17. One of the reasons for not posting your phone number in FB ad's is the amount of robocalls from scammers and telemarketers. It sucks!
  18. Looks like Sunnyvale Trailer Park in Nova Scotia! Ricky, Julian, Bubbles and Mr. Lahey wish you a Merry Christmas!!
  19. In 1966 many of the ss Chevelle cars were built with the inline 6, from the factory. From 64 thru at least 72 SS models came with a variety of engine choices, except for 1970. The SS 396 or 454 were the only ones offered. I have a 1970 Chevelle Malibu Sport Coupe that was ordered with all the SS equipment such as buckets, console, disc front brakes, dual exhaust, F40 suspension, Rallye wheels with a 350/300 h.p. engine. So no SS designation, to get around rising insurance premiums on "muscle car" models. It was ordered thru a local Chevrolet performance dealer by a smart salesman and buyer.
  20. Having recently posted my authentic 1972 442 convertible on a few Olds sites and online (kijiji, marketplace) I came to realize the amount of negativity generated by so called experts and keyboard warriors makes for a very depressing experience. After dealing with 6 or so know it alls' without any cash and a lack of real expertise I did sell it for a lot less than I paid for it to a classic car dealer. Why? I needed the space, money and most of all he wasn't a rude a$$hat. Also he showed up with cash, not stories of glory days.
  21. That 74 Eldo in the right side of the pic is painted in "Persian Lime Metallic" Love that! This is my old one posted below.
