  1. This is the proper and very common shifter on this era Chevelle, Nova, Beaumont, etc. If it didn't have the "Muncie" stamping it would be incorrect. M20 code is all they should need to verify. Judging error, not yours.
  2. I traded my 1970 Chevelle Malibu 350 convertible in on a used 1974 ElCamino SS 454. It was loaded, A/C, power windows & locks, tilt, cruise and swivel buckets. It was rusted bad by the spring of 1978 after having one body job already done. Drove it thru the Ontario salty winters.
  3. Yes it hurts too see what some of my old junk would bring now. But I never had the cash or the foresight to buy, store and hold til 2020
  4. As a Canadian I wish to apologize for these morons. Doesn't matter what side of the border you are on we are surrounded by imbeciles. I'm not a Model A fan but even I can understand the value of leaving this one alone!
  5. One of the most difficult post war USA built cars to restore. The Wixom built monocoque style chassis is prone to rust and you need a master welder/bodyman to get them right, or just go buy a mint California original one.
  6. That's what makes the difference. I had a similar 67 GTO 20 years ago, BUT it was rusty underneath. A good original chassis makes the car!
  7. I bought one of these when it was 11 yrs old. Was a well maintained, very impressive to drive, solid as a rock car. Was very expensive to keep on the road. Thirsty on premium fuel, parts were very high priced, and not a very reliable car then. Fast forward from 1998 to now. These don't age as well as french wine. Actually they get more caustic and vinegary to the wallet every year. Still, a very nice ride! Took me almost 8 months of advertising and dropping the price to less than wholesale to sell it. To add insult to injury the night before the new buyer was picking it up it was left outside and some a$$hat broke off the M-B hood emblem. At least the local M-B dealership gave me a new one in a gift box for $25!
  8. They are very nice to drive, but I haven't owned one for over 20 years. Also never drove it in the snow but I doubt it was much good in slippery weather. Extremely expensive to maintain and make sure the suspension is good!
  9. That's far too much IMHO. I've worked in the car biz on and off and been to many dealer only auctions. 50% of regular price is about right. Even then they are still a very hard sell a majority of times. The mileage looks very low, so check the CarFax. I would stay away from it. A 7 year old Chrysler minivan has enough problems on the horizon without a salvage title.
  10. Nice LARGE car. Had a Sedan DeVille and it was a big rig. It was easier on gas than my 1976 Lincoln Town Car by quite a bit in spite of having a 500 c.i. VS the Lincoln's 460. I would put the original hubcaps back on this car as those on it are 77 and later style.
  11. My current wagon. People ask me if it's the Griswalds' car (Family Truckster) all the time!
  12. Getting back to the 300 SL. Does anyone know what happened to the one in Aylmer Ontario? Haven't heard of or seen it for over 30 years. The then elderly gentleman owner had a few Rolls Royce's in his garage along with the 300. A real car sleuth I know spoke with the family about 20 years ago and they didn't let on about the car's whereabouts.
  13. Does having a 1915 cut off date ensure a shrinking membership on an annual basis? Or does it induce a cult like snobbery effect? Both or neither? As my interests are mostly on 70 year old and newer I have no dog in this fight.
  14. Not much love on here for 1976 model year cars that I can detect! Maybe I'm the exception. I have a soft spot for quite a few mid 70's to 80's iron. There's a place for any age car as far as I'm concerned.
  15. I really don't know what they are,but I was told they were from a VW
  16. I'm also a fan of the colour. There were a few of them around in my youth in Black Jade. I bought a red "restored" one with 351 automatic in the late 80's. It wasn't as much of a restoration as a hack job. My all time favorite 69 Mach 1 was a friend in high school who managed to buy a 69 with a 428 CJ Ram Air 4 speed in Acapulco Blue with white interior and all the Drag Pac goodies. That was a scary fast car.
  17. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars/kingston-on/classic-cars/1586437310 Not mine, know nothing about it or Chalmers car's at all! Ad states "7 passenger touring car"
  18. Ok, what are they? The 84 year old dude thought they came from a VW. His uncle bought the car new in 1938. Didn't drive it much during WWII and after 19 46. Always stored inside. They took his licence away in the 1990's and he gave the car to his nephew, who is now 84 and can't drive a stick shift due to leg problems. My 66 yr. old buddy and I went to look at it and he bought it. Came with a huge pile of spares including a transmission, rad, starter, generator and engine. This is a Oshawa Ontario Canada built car. That's the original colour "Oshawa Blue"
