  1. Pretty sure it’s the seal as I can see it coming out drip by the drip at the junction of the two pieces . Appreciate everyone’s help. Will keep you informed . KReed ROA 14549
  2. Thanks everyone - appreciate all the advice . I did clean all the corrosion out of the manifold when I took it apart the first time but there wasn't much, if any, since the engine has only 500 miles on from complete rebuild including new water pump and refurbished timing cover . I'm gonna try the stop leak first before I tear it part again. It's doesnt that much leak but just enough to drive me crazy and make me wonder what's going to blow out when I'm 100 miles from home . Thanks again . KReed ROA 14549
  3. I have a very small leak that is driving me crazy. It is where the crossover manifold fits on to the water pump . Took the manifold out ( PITA ) , put new rubber O ring , used high temp gasket maker inside as I put it back together and still leaks small amount when car is cold - fills up the little recesses on the upper side of the water pump and the drips on the floor . Doesn't leak a drop when the engine is warm but next morning drip, drip ,drip . I can actually see where it coming from with a mirror - tried more gasket maker but to no avail . Any suggestions before I pull it apart again? Maybe next step is drain fluid at that level , let it dry out a few days and try another sealant ?... Don't know if anyone else gas had the problem - all ideas appreciated .Thanks KReed ROA 14549
  4. It was a "local parts " store that specializes in car parts for later model cars . It was not the O'Reilleys Napa type store. I think I have a couple pieces left and will try and dig it out . I may be wrong but believe it might have bee a 3M brand . I know it came in a variety of widths and a roll of 25 ft with self adhesive back which I "supplemented " with glue. I fashiond the ends with a Dremel . So far it's holding but never exposed to rain or seven weather . KReed ROA 14549
  5. Hi Matt - don’t let the Hemmings guys get you down . I follow your beautiful website regularly and am now lusting after that gorgeous 1940 Buick 56C silver gray convertible with red leather . That color combo is my all time favorite as you can see below on my 64 Vette and 72 Riv . Talking “gently “ with the boss (Lori) to convince her I much I need ( believe that is the correct word) another car 😀 -touch and go at the moment ! Would fit right into my garage . One can only hope! KReed ROA 14549
  6. Thanks - Midnight Blue F-29 code 250 HP ☹️! From 455 CI - But get it up to 70 mph ( about 20 seconds 🙄) and it will put you to sleep LOL KReed ROA 14549
  7. Hi Greg it' s all in the eye of the beholder . Personally, I prefer it as I think it breaks up color on a very large car plus it's original for the car . I have seen some modified boattails , however , that look mighty good without it . Do what you like not what someone else might like . Here's a pic of my 72 and 73 with the side trim and I love the look . KReed ROA 14549 PS I had to pay $300'to get a 3 inch piece at the rear for my 72 when the replating/polishing shop lost it and a guy made me buy the whole quarter panel piece to get the small piece ! BTW , your trim pieces can me made to look like new in the rights hands and some $$$ as they charge by the inch.
  8. That’s a gorgeous 67 ! Color combo is killer . Hope it wins . KReed ROA 14549
  9. I am sorting out a bunch of miscellaneous parts and found this pair of brackets that for the life of me cannot figure what they are or where they go . I think they came off a first generation Riviera . Any help would be appreciated . kReed ROA 14549
  10. Yes I do have some nice sets available . PM me and we will talk shipping . Thanks KReed ROA 14549
  11. Hi Bill -I’ll take it . Will fit in my shop perfectly . Let’s talk details tonight . Ken Reed
  12. Good evening all, I am potentially interested in a 1968 Riviera currently listed on EBay that is located in Fishers , IN ( suburb of Indianopils ,IN, ) if anyone is close and could potentially look ago the car for me in the next 3-5 days , I would appreciate a PM to discuss. Thanks much . KReed ROA 14549
  13. It's funny that this topic comes up now as I have a couple deals pending for a one owner 63 Lesabre convertible ( rose mist poly ) and a one owner 1970'Toronado ( regency rose). Not sure either will come to fruition as owners are pretty proud of them. Personally I love the color girlish or not ! I do favor the white top on both rather than black but that 70 Riviera but it is a very striking car . KReed ROA 14549
  14. That is beautiful ! Great job Jan and Bob . KReed ROA 14549
  15. Got multiple pics from the owner of the GS and parts cars above if anybody wants them, drop me an email - kr118@aol.com . LOTS of work and $$$$$ needed to save that one . KReed ROA 14549
  16. The rubber will definitely soften with time. Mine took about a year but door use was relatively infrequent . Let it alone - it will be fine . KReed ROA 14549
  17. Nope - clear packing tape used to wrap them up when I Shipped them back with my car from Houston so they wouldn't rattle around in the haulers trailer . KReed ROA 14549
  18. I was fortunate to run across a small hoard of first generation parts a few months ago and bought 7 sets of the 8 PC rivier rocker panel trim for a 65 Riviera. They are in good shape but need to be cleaned up and painted . They have no major damage , Just dirt and cobwebs from sitting for 39 years in a building .. Offering fIrst to ROA members and then putting on EBay . Price to ROA members is $750 plus shipping . Price on EBay will be $900 plus shipping . Not cheap but As you know these are tough to find in good condition . PM if interested . Will also have a few other thing to list later when I get them sorted out. Thanks Ken KReed ROA 14549
  19. Bernie - the color is a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee color -Velvet Red - which I really liked when I first saw it a couple of years ago . The original Burgundy for 1965 just didn't have the "pop" I wanted . The primer was actually changed to red when I got it to Hardy's shop in Texas and I believe it was the right choice . KReed ROA 14549
  20. And unloading at home .... I have just done my last frame off restoration! Always twice as much as expected and twice as long. Next car I but will be someone else’s restoration at 50 cents on the dollar ! 😀 KReed ROA 14549
  21. Got her back at home safely finally ( and off the payroll- feels like I just got a raise! ) . Re: the two crooks -one said he would do it , took a bunch of my cash to start and then tore the car apart and then nothing for 8 months , second crook states he was working 8 hours/day at $40/hr but in reality was probably working 2 hrs/day . When I questioned him why it took three gallons paint at $125/gallon to paint a chassis , he went nuts on me and told me to get my f...ing car out of his garage today or it would cost me $200/day . I had it out in 4 hours with the help of 5 friends and a Penske truck . That's when the late Hardy Rawls came to my rescue . When he heard the story he said " bring that car down her to me and we will get it done ! " so sad he didn't get to see the final product . His shop did a wonderful job and I will always be grateful to him and Garon Bracewell who did all the work . These pictures are us loading onto the truck to take to Hardy's shop in Montgomery ,TX . KReed ROA 14549
  22. Finally got my 65GS done ! 4 years , two crooks later and my grandchildren’s college savings ! 😀JK . Being shipped back to Des Moines tomorrow along with lots extra parts so let me know if you need anything ! This car started as barn find from Duluth, MN and is numbers matching. I modified the paint color from Verde Green, upgraded the interior from standard to deluxe with power windows and vents and put stainless 2 1/2 “ exhaust system with two mufflers rather than central one . Also put my tach in where the clock was using the same bezel. Painted under the hood body color rather than black and powder coated the wheel wells . Other than that pretty much all stock. Know some purists will disagree but it’s what I wanted . If anyone needs a great restoration guy who is very reasonable and in the Houston area , let me know and I will hook you up KReed ROA 14549
  23. Velvet red pearl 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee
  24. Started out as MN barn find in verde green but I wanted something different . Here's a before and after shot right before it was done to show the color I decided upon . KReed ROA 14549
  25. Firestone F40 - date code 0309 - third week 2009. Saving that triple white for you Tom - better hurry though, it’s crumbling as we speak😀 KReed ROA 14549
