  1. Ran across this October 1962 issue of Mechanix Illustrated which was one of the first reviews of the 63 Riviera by Tom McCahill. Thought the first paragraph was hoot ! Later in the article he stated that manual 4 speed was an option and wished he had tried it . We're any ever produced and / or sold ? KReed ROA 14549
  2. Why would anyone mess up a nice 67 with those crappy wheels - just don't get it ! And that 70 with side pipes !,,, what's the world coming to? 😂🤔 KReed ROA 14549
  3. James Kehr at Bestoffercounts has one listed on EBay right now -$40 . KReed ROA 14549
  4. Jason - I actually have two 66 GS - a "beater " (black one that I got ripped off on an EBay purchase about 3 years ago - lesson learned) that my differential guy just finished with new clutches and now behaves as it should . My other GS (riviera red with 15K miles ) is the one I am currently discussing . He ordered some aftermarket pre load springs and retainers today that he thinks will work and so I will keep you posted . Thanks for all the discussion and help . KReed ROA 14549
  5. Definitely not posi- jacked up rear end . Only one wheel moves at a time when you rotate either . There is a stack of alternating clutches and shims on the right side and ?..a few shims on the left . Haven't pulled it out completely but my friend who is the differential specialist says the clutch springs and retainers are definitely not there and that is definitely NOT a posi at this point . This discussion is quickly getting above my pay grade as I know nothing about these sorts things ( but willing to learn) . As I told him , I would be glad to to show up how to take out a colon cancer if he would show me how to fix a Positraction rearend - the colon resection is much easier !,😃😃) . Will check out Steve's suggestion . Thanks everyone KReed ROA 14549
  6. The way it is set up now it is definitely not a Positraction and I want to put it back to the original way it should be - my OCD I guess . Any suggestions ? Thanks Jason KReed ROA 14549
  7. My 66 Riv GS was originally a Positraction 3.42 ( as they all were) . The original owner got tired of the clatter and " had the clutches removed " according to his detailed notes in 1970 with only 6,000 miles on the car. Had my differential guy look into it today and found that the clutches are there but the clutch springs and retainers are gone ( 2 each ) - know this is like looking for a needle in a haystack but would be interested in them if anyone has set laying around ending a new home . Are there any aftermarket equivalents that would fit - my guy seems to think so but this is the first Riviera 3.42 he has looked into ? Any help would be appreciated . Thanks in advance . KReed ROA 14549
  8. You are correct about the "iffy" . Many issues such as Engine code is MW which is a 66 425 single carb . Good engine but certainly not a 65 LX . KReed ROA 14549
  9. Love the color but that rust is nasty - looks like it's been under water ! KReed ROA 14549
  10. Red Riviera Bob did a nice set for me and they looked great but they take work to keep them looking good if you drive your car like I do. I found a couple of them in a junk yard of Riviera's last month and brought them home to play with . Both of them had quite a bit of road rash on the rims which required filing ,sanding, filing ,sanding, polishing , sanding ,etc.........hours ! Still work to do to get them to RRB level . Patience is the only virtue you must have .
  11. I have a pair ( R&L) of complete tailight assemblies for a 1965 Riviera . I have taken them completely apart and cleaned the lens and bezels , painted and primed the housings . They are driver quality only. One of the red lens has a small chip on the edge which does not show when installed . The backup lens each have small cracks but barely noticeable when the bezel is in place . The bezels both have some pitting on the underside but nothing terrible . Enclosing some pics . Price is $ 150 for the pair and $15 shipping . If you need other pics let me know as download is limited . PM if interested. Thanks KReed ROA 14549
  12. Gorgeous color ! I am glad you chose a color YOU LIKE and not worry about what others think if you stray outside originality . It's kinda like my grandparents did when they put plastic seat covers on their 62 Oldsmobile so they wouldn't stain the covers and they would be In good shape for the next guy . ? KReed ROA 14549
  13. Hagerty will let you set the value yourself on what you think you car is worth . Obviously the higher you set it, the higher the cost. I have several vehicles insured with them and have compared prices with others and no one can beat them . Their service is second to none IMO . I also have the roadside policy which I have used 2 times saving me big $$$. Highly recommend you checking them out to see if they meet your needs . KReed ROA 4549
  14. Diamondback tires -1" whitewall . 225R70. They will make you anything you want . Easy to work with- highly recommend. KReed ROA 14549
  15. Thanks for the compliment Alex - your 65 GS is gorgeous ! I have owned my car for about 4 years and it is in its third and final restoration shop . Previous two were crooks who basically took my car apart , labeled everything (thankfully ) and then did nothing but want more money with little to show for it. Took it to Houston in pieces in a Penske truck to a good friend in September 2017 . The guy doing the restoration is doing a nice job for me . He has couple other projects going at the same time which allows me to be able to afford it fortunately . I originally wanted burgundy mist but didn't feel it "popped" quite enough so found this 2018 Jeep color called velvet red . It is a deep burgundy with a little metallic . Interior will be black deluxe. Hopefully done by early Spring ? Ken Reed ROA 14549
  16. I have a complete 64-66 faux wood steering wheel for sale and am offering to ROA members first . It's a nice wheel that came off a 66 GS that I parted out a couple years ago . It had a couple of cracks in the usual place on each side of the wheel where the braces meet the faux wood and I repaired them. I think they turned out pretty good and are barely noticieable . The horn bar is a new Rick Rawls reproduction as the original was not on the car when I parted it out . There some very minor pitting on the hub . All in all its a nice driver steering wheel. Guaranteed to please or money back. . $ 1100 shipped in the U.S.48. PM if interests and I will send pics .
  17. Really? Why would anyone in their right mind ruin a perfectly good Ford rear end and bed ?. ?? KReed ROA 14549
  18. Thought I would show a couple updates on my 65 GS - starting interior and wiring now KReed ROA 14549
  19. Problem solved - cleaned the junk aftermarket switches and all working ( at least til in the morning ). Got an original pair on the way. Thanks for everyone's help KReed ROA 14549
  20. Ok here's where I am at : 1. Made sure all lights were off - both dash and accessory - doors closed - wiggled them both - interior lights ALL stay on 2. Pulled both door jamb lights out of the body - nothing changes from above 3. Disconnected single wire from both door jamb switches - nothing changes from above 4. Unwrapped tape off both door jamb switches to make sure there wires all connected to jamb wire - they are . Rewrapped three lead in wires Next steps ? To Wolfgang to redo jamb switches ?... Sorry to be such a dumba... on this issue - just puzzling why it was working when I left town , flickered a few times and then they all stay on Ken Reed ROA 14549
  21. Thanks all - will give a try . KReed ROA 14549
  22. I suspect that is the problem since I can definitely hear something " spinning " under the dash at higher speeds . Think I will send it to a repair shop to test for me . Thanks KReed ROA 14549
