  1. That is hilarious - “ grand tourer” and even a “V8 4 stroke engine “ - now we’re talking! KReed ROA 14549

Nothing that $20 K couldn't fix, huh? that would get you to $36,000+ for a $15,000 car. KReed ROA 14549
  3. Those are gorgeous wheels - don’t blame you for trying to make those work. Keep us posted on how it goes . Thanks KReed ROA 14549

Actually loved the color Which is what attracted me to it in the first place though I am not sure what it is and whether it was an original color since I didn’t see data plate info . The overspray in the trunk and bubbles in the trunk paint didn’t work for me personally but that’s fixable or just leave it alone and drive it! My OCD won’t let me do that though. KReed ROA 14549

    1972 GS ID

No, decided to pass after getting your info And looking at pictures more closely - never talked to the dealer . Just too many things didnt add up - had GS badging , motor rebuilt , paint /rust suspect and interior needs redone Perhaps a good project for someone . They have had it for a while since snow was on the ground when photographed. I don’t need any major projects at this stage of life! Appreciate everyone’s help though- definitely learned something https://classiccars.com/listings/view/1306943/1972-buick-riviera-for-sale-in-ham-lake-minnesota-55304 KReed ROA 14549

    1972 GS ID

I am a little confused about ID'ing a real 72 GS . This is the quote from the ID a gran sport section by D. Falk.... " The GS option in these two years were very similar in that an modified engine was part of the package, which offered an additional 10-15 hp over the standard engine. Once again the chromed air cleaner lid was included. Beginning with the '72 model the vin# included the letter "W" to indicate that the car was equipped with the optional Stage 1 engine. As in '70 there was no additional Stage 1 decals or emblems on the car. The GS option included the engine a well as the ride and handling package and posi rear axle with a 3.42 ratio. ". 1. Was the stage 1 truly an option in 72 as stated or were all 72 GS " stage one "? If they weren't , is there a way to ID the additional 10-15 HP stated above by the engine code WA . What then was the engine code for the standard 455 non- GS 72's ? I am am sure there is simple answer to this but wanted to know for sure as I am possibly going to look at "72 GS " tommorow and wanted to have my facts straight . Thanks in advance . KReed ROA 14549
  9. Possibly interested in this car but can’t find a phone number in the ad . Does anyone know this car? Or have a contact for seller. Thanks KReed ROA 14549
  10. Yeh I much prefer the big block nailheads to the small block nailheads which btw are very very rare .😆😂 KReed ROA 14549
  11. Success ! Finally got to back in and working like a charm . Thanks for all the support . KReed ROA 14549
  12. Thanks Paul - appreciate the help. I do have a couple of 1x2 ‘s that I am using to prop things up . There are 6 bolts that hold the regulator / motor in place that I just can’t get to line up after getting the rollers in place on their respective tracks which is due to the resistance in the main spring of the regulator . Have been powering up the motor to try and do it but finding that you probably need an extra set of hands to really do it right . My liver has recovered somewhat and BP down so will give it another shot later today . You are absolutely right about using gloves - real grease pit in that door ! Thanks KReed ROA 14549
  13. Got the regulator with motor attached out of the door easily after removing the glass . The motor gears were for some unknown reason binding on the sprocket on the regulator . I was able to remove the motor w/o too much difficulty and it worked fine . Cleaned everything up and reinstalled the motor on the regulator and all worked perfectly......now the problem begins ....getting the whole mechanism back in the door and three rollers back on appropriate tracks and motor secured to door frame proved to be a royal PITA..... gave up after two hours of cussing and trying various variations on a theme . As of now the mechanism is inside the door and the rollers are in their tracks but not secured to the door..... letting my BP come back down with help of Dr. Jack Daniels ..... try again tomorrow with a positive attitude and then hopefully not break the glass putting in back on the regulator . If anyone has secrets on installation steps , would be appreciated by my wife and my liver . 😎 KReed ROA 14549
  14. I am sure I can get it out but you’re gonna need to come to Des Moines to put in back in for me ! Already tried your Door frame ground trick hoping it was that simple but NO luck . Motor doesn’t make a sound when checked with power probe . Got good heat to the lead as well so it definitely is the motor. I’ll pull it out and let you know. Never tore into one of those so it will be a learning experience! Hope EmTee is right on the brushes . Thanks KReed ROA 14549
  15. My passenger side window motor on my 67 Riviera went out today . Fortunately I have a good one to replace but have questions , particularly knowing fingers and hands can be seriously injured so my question is: 1. Is it always mandatory to remove the entire regulator mechanism in order to replace the motor ? There are three bolts that hold the motor on the regulator gear of which one is reasonably accessible but the other two are very difficult to even see much less remove. Looking at the service manual , it is recommended that the entire mechanics be removed and a hole be drilled in the regulator with a bolt placed to control the gear since it is under major tension. I suspect I can get it out as one piece but getting in back looks like a PIA . Before I tackle it , want to make sure that there are no safe and simpler ways to do this . Thanks as always KReed ROA 14549
  16. Looking really good David - keep us updated on the faux wood repair . KReed ROA 14549

  22. This post is not specific to Rivieras but hope members don’t mind me asking what is the best USA made drill bit set in their experience. I am tired of trying to use “made in China” junk . Looking for a good 10-14 piece set . Know their not cheap but would like to buy a set that I can count on and sharpen as needed . Thanks KReed ROA 14549
  23. Well how about this ? I like the metallic grays myself
